Speaking of Solas's fear, what do you think he sees when he is fighting the fearlings? According to Solas when I brought him into the fade, fearlings are suppose to take the form you find most unnerving. The Quizz and Hake saw spiders, Cassandra saw maggots, what did he see?

Its not the spiders, they're just in one section of the Deep Roads. Its the gigantic mass of darkspawn that are clustered in one area and dogpile you to death. Oh, and ogres. Fighting two orges at once and shrikes.
I've yet to finish a nightmare run of Origins, but I tend to find the Deep Roads okay if I clear each darkspawn from the area first, make sure I bring along a mage who can crowd control (freeze spells, paralyse spells, stunning spells, hexes, etc.) and someone who can deal loads of damage. I managed to complete the deep roads on hard recently without a tank - just sten, leliana, morrigan, and my (admittedly, overpowered) cunning rogue tabris. Ogres are actually pretty easy to paralyse/freeze/temporarily get out of the way.
I remembering seeing one person post on tumbler that they believe it means he's afraid of being abandoned as he's dying because everyone thinks he's a monster. But I think your interpretation is more likely.
If I were to guess, I think Solas fears becoming a monster more because its consequences - i.e. he's massacre a lot of people - and cares less about what people think of him (exception: the inquisitor, especially if romanced, and any other close friends if he has any). I think he really, really, really does not like the idea though, and that's why he brings it up in conversation.

Oh, I actually think he thinks of himself... well, maybe not necessarily a monster at this point in story, but someone who is likely beyond redemption and on a road to become either a monster or someone to be feared as such. Heck, I think this is also why he tells Lavellan in Trespasser that while he wishes their love had survived all this, he doesn't believe it will. I think he expects that even Lavellan who loves him and didn't give up on him despite all that was revealed - even if she survives all this - will eventually hate him and abandon him like everyone else would (and, probably, according to him: should).

The spider thing was a joke, but as someone who is really arachnophobic, it's partly the spiders for me.
Give me darkspawn the whole way.
I was so so happy The Descent had minimal spiders.

I am sad that I missed most of the plot generator party, because I've been preparing for party stuff tomorrow. And also building my stupid legos, because I have an addiction (and Mr. Weekes posting the Elves legos sets on twitter sure as hell didn't help). Can't make a Solas elf because their ears are stuck to the hair instead of the head.

The best part is the game pretty much holding my hand and saying 'you need two mages to do this'.
And then pulling off the combo on my own (sometimes I'd use Morrigan to assist but generally I was a one mage party with two rogues and a warrior).

so I found out today that Dragon Age is one of the most popular video game fandoms on tumblr? I had no idea. I always thought that the volume of fanfiction produced by DA fans was actually pretty incredible - there seems to be loooads of us, I always thought it wasn't too popular (contrasting how many views my chaptered DA fanfic has gotten to my Life is Strange oneshot is actually pretty depressing).

Yes, DA is insanely popular (almost 30,000 fics on AO3), but there are lots of divisions inside the fandom especially on tumblr, so depending on what pairing or character you are writing for, you may not get as much attention. Life is Strange is kind of a new fandom(about 800 fics on AO3), so if it has more views, it might be because people are more hungry for new, exciting writing in that fandom.

I never have to deal with actually dangerous spiders, so for me it would be... cockroaches.
Creepy, large bugs that move really fast? No thanks. It's even worse when those demons start flying all over the place.

Every single time I see people complaining about how the friendship path should include the vallaslin scence I just get quite annoyed. Petty, I know, but we get one thing. One thing that is 100% unique to the romance path.
Please let the Solasmancers keep that one thing.

Oh, Dragon Age is absolutely one of the most popular (active) fandoms - although, I'm excluding things like Pokemon which has a lot more fans, but proportionally a lot less content and fanwork production. As for why you might be getting more views from a smaller fandom - I've noticed weird things tend to shape what does and does not get noticed. Like, pairings that are just popular enough to have a community, but not so popular that they're really considered major - a one-shot with such a pairing might get more views than a one-shot of a more popular pairing, because they have less content to choose from. It's not impossible that the same thing applies to fandoms as a whole - a piece for a smaller fandom will get more attention than a one-shot for a larger one, simply because the former's water in the desert and the latter's a raindrop in a flood. It's supply and demand, I guess.
I think a better way to gauge popularity is to look at how much content is being made, not how much attention it's getting.

I... don't know, actually. What would Solas see? Although, maybe he seems something mundane like ants or something. Cassandra sees maggots, but she's hardly defined by a fear of them after all.
I wonder what I'd see...

LOL, it's not like they're going to change it now
Besides, the lead writer already explained that Solas removing the vallaslin was kinda... well, he got flustered and all, and it was all kinda an afterthought. I suppose people could still be grumpy about him being ready to offer the truth to his lover and not his friend, no matter how dear the friend is... but come on - she is his lover ![]()

Well, maybe to stir things up... I'm in Hissing Wasters, finding dwarven tombs - and the inscription on one made me somewhat intrigued.
"After many years Fairel, greatest of Paragons, couldn't bear life's burden, and with the burden growing, he called his sons to his bedside. He bade each son swear he would take care of his brother, and the brothers swore and mourned when their father returned to the Stone."
This may be considered grasping at straws, but I find the way things were phrased interesting. It's kinda implied that instead of getting old, Fairel got weary of living. Like - either the guy was depressed, or the weight of everything became unbearable... Does this mean that dwarves were like Tolkien elves once? They were immortal, but could die out of sadness???

Maybe. I mean.......if you don't need to eat or sleep because of Titan support.......no telling how long dwarves used to live.
