I wonder if it is a side effect of uthenera? They both spent extended time in it. Or maybe it's some kind of ancient elvhen cultural thing that hasn't been touched upon yet, like Buddhist monks? Abelas is in service to Mythal, and so was (implied?) Solas. Maybe Abelas just takes it a step further, and shaves his eyebrows too? I'm just speculating.

off-topic really but ah well; I've been doing a lot of Mass Effect reminiscing in recent days (I miss Garrus SOOOO much) and as I considered the dlc for 3 I recalled a thing which made me chuckle-
idk if anyone remembers the launch trailer for the 3 Omega dlc but at around :48 when Nyreen and Aria are like "Aria" "Nyreen".. my SO and I at the time watched the trailer together shortly after it went up, and as soon as I saw that exchange I turned to him and said "OHHHHHHH They are definitely ex girlfriends". He didn't believe me (lol) and then after he got to the part in his playthrough of the dlc when it dropped that it was explained to be a thing, he was annoyed at me for spoiling him (!LOL) and it was like 'omg no lol there aren't mined datafiles where I read this or something I have no insider information I didn't KNOW spoilers, it's just that sometimes I have a knack for KNOWING THINGS apparently with these games you know this!!11' and.. grumpy SO 'ok well you still spoiled it for me' '!!' wahaha
[or maybe it was just hella obvious from the trailer tho to many others in which case cool! yass extra fuel for my side still in that silly debate (tho it was 2 years ago now haha) that it wasn't me who spoiled him since it was all there for all to see anyway.]
