That Solas picture always makes me laugh for some reason. It's like he's making funny faces or is confused.
I always imagine that someone farted shortly beforehand.

Can we play as an eight month pregnant Inquisitor? Instant multiclass into slow moving tank.
Ok, sorry, I'm done.
I'm happy for you, girls. I really am.
My dalish mage -I'm struggling to name her- I see as being proud of who she is but I'm taking inspiration from the conversation you can have with Velanna in DAO:A about the dalish living too much in the past and creating new stories in how she'll interact with the world.
The Masked Empire spoilers
I want to try and keep her as a product of her environment but open to new ideas.
Inclusive and love for everyone is something I'm saving for my human rogue.
I agree that playing a strict dalish would not be fun. In origins I think I only completed one dalish pt and she was quite happy with her life, but changed and grew away from that on joining GWs. In fact, although she romanced Zevran, she had a better relationship with the human companions than my CEs did. I found it impossible to have my CEs (all female) not have their opinion of humans be very colored by their Mother's fate and the events at the castle, there's no way any of them would romance a human (they also ended up with Zev
)

His nose looks really flat in that picture, I think. It's just a terrible angle for him, I think, since I like his profile and other front-facing screens.

It does look that way ![]()
Am I the only one who likes playing shem-hating Dalish?
I mean, Braeth isn't going to be as bad as my Dalish Warden (oh, grumpy Ceyrion, I adore your shem-hating and grouchy ways) but she's definitely going to have a lot of pro-elf thoughts, and probably some anti-City Elf thoughts. It'll be neat to see how interacting with the Inquisition opens her mind to other ideas. And it'll be fun to see how Solas responds to someone who is close-minded, but deep down mostly fearful, of cultures that aren't her own.
If Solas had been male only, I already had a male elf concept I would have gone with. My "canon" would still be a female elf that would likely have remained alone, but the game is as much about the story as who you can drag off to your bunk.
And the fact there are options all around does make me happy, even if some groups will end up with one less. Sorry for that, guys... but at least it's better than one or none, for whatever consolation that can be. I wouldn't have been too happy romance-wise if my only choice had been Iron Bull or Cullen, so I do understand.
So... that said, elf rogue with Solas, Qunari mage with Josephine, and human warrior for Cassandra. I'm happy I get to play each race and class I want with a potential romance I am looking forward to. And I'm really curious what the story reason will be for elf-only with Solas. Maybe humans slaughtered his village. Trope-y, but whatever. We'll see.

For me its not so much about the shem hating but more the dalish culture that seems to be quite regimented with rules and rites of passage etc. I'm happy for my dalish to have at the very least a deep distrust of shem, but less comfortable with a dislike of CEs. I hope for the opportunity for elven pcs to assert their feelings of other races (especially shem) either maintaining distrust or moving on to be good friends.
Ispan, I loooooove that head canon
I might have to steal it and see if I can adapt it to an elf mage (either that or an ultra tough tomboy sword and shield warrior, haha).
Do eeeeet
I'm going with a warrior (not sure if 2-handed or sword and board yet), but a mage would have further incentive to stick around because she doesn't have another safe place to learn about magic. Human mage was my original plan but she'll have to creep on Cullen (edit: or another of the amazing LIs, such choice much wow) some time down the road because I adore the mage boy/tough girl duo and want Solas to have a bad ass warrior girlfriend ![]()

Hehe, a shem-hating Dalish could be fun to roleplay! My issue is that my first playthrough is almost always a sort of self insert because I think it's fun to see how the choices I'd personally make would fit into the fantasy universe
I'll explore other ideas in future playthroughs, I'm sure.

Personally, I'm way more fond of playing the city elf who both hates shems and hates the Dalish.

The only time I ever really got the impression that city elves were outright disliked was with the clan in TME. The Warden's clan in DA:O took in a city elf, Zevran joined up with Dalish for the time, and then there's Feynriel's mother returning after that whole thing was sorted out, wasn't there? Or am I remembering wrong? Either way, I'm sure some clans are less open to the idea of city elves, but I'm not going to believe all of them are that way unless it's clearly stated so. Given the choice my elf will see them as elves and would welcome them, because who has time for petty issues of where you grew up when there's bigger things going on? Or if your race is slowly dying? Seems like it would be shooting yourself in the foot.

That's a character I could get behind! ...Oh man, this gives me a great idea. One of my planned DAO runs was the stereotypical 'Dwarf Noble picking all the evil options', but now... I'll just make my CE character side with the werewolves! Oh man, that's brilliant. And the Dwarf Noble can kill the Spirit, like my Grumpy Ceyrion did. Awesome, where's my notebook?

I just can't ever bring myself to side with the werewolves, and have great difficulty siding with the clan too...and doing evil stuff in general. I'm so glad we've got The Keep, that's where all my dastardly deeds are going to take place
.
There's been a lot of talk about babies being Solas' reasoning for elf-only, but if it turns out he really is an immortal elf, that would make anyone who isn't elven hazardous to his health where longterm relationships are concerned. That was actually one of the first things that came to mind when we got the news about the restriction. (He isn't Dalish, so I don't think he would have those beliefs otherwise.)

I like to playthrough my characters--helps give them life in my head. But the Keep will be useful for getting some choices. Like selling Fenris.

Figured out how to quote on my phone!
OMG I'm in such a conundrum now (and it's actually a GOOD conundrum, I think this elf only business might be broadening my horizons, lmao). I too love the mage dude/badass girlfriend combo so sword and board may ultimately be what I go for (especially since warrior looks way more fun this time round). But then your idea about a mage sticking around because it's the safest place for her to learn is ALSO awesome... Now I'm starting to picture my little elven First as making all these plans to modernise her clan when she becomes Keeper, and then the Fade s**** hits the fan and all her plans go awry, lol. But she gets a boyfriend out of it so it's not all bad, lmao.
Oh, I really like the idea of your elf wanting to modernize her clan! It's cool because she doesn't want to just bail on her clan and, even though she's unhappy, she'll stick around and try to make a difference.
I definitely have to thank my friend for coming up with these ideas, she's so darned creative ![]()
Would Anriel work as an elf name?
Oh I do like the idea of duel wielding badass girlfriend for Solas, if the romance is good I'm definitely rolling another elf.
Would Anriel work as an elf name?
Well, it sounds elfy, lol. I'm generally a fan of just choosing whatever you like as a name. Though I noticed the writers like using obscure angel names for elves, so that's how I ended up choosing my Inquisitor's name.
