Hi there. I'll just put this here. The first chapter of "A First Day Chant" is ready for readers. If you like A Christmas Carol give it a go...If that doesn't float your boat..well there's Solas...and Cillian...and sort of Felassan, so it can't be all that bad. ;)

Meanwhile, my fic idea wants to basically drip with wheels of Ferelden cheese. If there was a way to send you some fluff capacity....

This reminds me of an odd bug I've experienced. I closed a rift in the Hinterlands, but something strange happened. The rift is still there; I can't interact with it at all. A large cheese wheel is just sitting on the ground right below the unsealable rift.

There is something that I don't understand. Some players didn't like DAI because it was too grand and world changing. They want something like DA2 in which the story is much smaller. My issue with the DA series isn't that the games are too large scaled. The problem is making the stories and the PC powerful but also making it so that they basically worked to restore things back to normal and nothing really changed in the end. I don't agree with Solas' plans, but it would probably be more fun to play him next game instead of the regular PC. At least he's actually trying to change the world.

Alistair and Sheogorath fail to see anything wrong with this.

Conversation just now.

I did something. It ain't great or perfect, but... it's mine. Since it was this thread which made me go back to try drawing and writing, I dedicate it to the blanketfort too. The devil is in details.

WOOO - Ok you can skip 1 and 2(unless you really want to play) 3 is where it's at and you don't need the other two for anything other than basic background. I never played either game beyond like an hour and never felt like I was out of the loop.   The game is beautiful and the story is wonderful and you can run around with Geralt's shirt off and have him in long flowing hair. HE'S PERFECT. Also there's Roche. Also Eredin!! Also Avallach(WEEEEP HUSBANDO). AND UNICORN SEX!!! AND GWENT!!!  The DLC was fantastic and this guy was in it and super beautiful. And his story was incredibly sad.  It's massive and well worth the money.  I love it so much.

Spoiler

Is talking about the Witcher basically lighting the Kissiebear signal?  Just curious (nice to see you back, by the way).

So I did upload the pic at some point.

This will forever cement my goat legacy.

Spoiler

Mini baby Cee!  So. Cute.

Sera gave her a look over though. :D

Woof.

It's the eyebrows.  Solas manages to disapprove extra-hard.  It's his minor superpower.  Vivienne's too

My favourite Viv moment is how she doesn't disapprove of recuiting the mages until you speak to her.  She has to hold back her disapproval until she gets the chance to disapprove to your face.

Sheogorath would probably like Alistair's cheese obession well enough that he wouldn't drive him insane!

How embarrassing...I guess I promoted my holiday fic a bit too early. I caught another 2 oopsies and one necessary word due to a content cut. Ugh, I'm not doing my editing professor proud. Here have some Solas as apology.

When I realized I had uploaded that, since I can't seem to live down the goat association, I figured hey, there's proof of this being my destiny, I guess. There were so many baby goats at the neighbors'. We used to play.

So between the goats and the fact my hand is on the butt, I figured it fit here. :D

I just read this, extremely well done, but I want to give a better critique than that so I'm going to go over it a couple more times once the rugrats are in bed.

But damn, you got the feel of the original story down. My husband and I watch the Patrick Steward version, every year. And as weird as it sounds Patrick Steward as a much graver Solas kind of works.

I love when this word is used to describe my daughter. because her name is Adara. So everything is does is Adarable.

She's going to hate me when she's older, I know it.

Yeah, I've had him on mute for a while, and it's too bad since if you excise him, it's been a pretty good conversation.

I still think we need an idiot detector on BSN, but I've been thinking that since DA2.

I will debate Solas in here only, and the writers thread because I feel like those involved are going to handle disagreements in a respectful manner. I haven't seen enough of that outside of this thread. So nearly 95% of my posts are in this thread. with a handful in the Alastair thread when I first signed up with the BSN.

Thanks. I'll appreciate the input. I've seen several versions on film over the years, and read the novella once in middle school. Oddly enough, I was mostly exposed to the Disney version with Scrooge McDuck!  :D

I haven't seen the Patrick Stewart version yet, and...I don't know if I like the seed you've planted in my impressionable brain. Captain Picard and Solas?! I'm afraid I can't unsee that.

Writing when I shouldn't be always produces such great results. Who knew Varric and Loki made such great ****-stirring pals? Now I have a game of 'who can invent the most outrageous bullshit' to write.

The Patrick Steward version is probably the best of all of them, including the George C. Scott version which is considered the classic. It was on TNT, and was based on the one man show Steward did on Broadway. If you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it.

I'll do one better: Professor X and Solas... Though actually I can kind of see him fitting more with Ian McKellen as Magneto in that sense. Not a one to one but it kind of works.

And you're welcome. I find giving feedback and critique makes me a better writer, because it makes me think about what I'm doing as well, and it exposes me to different ways the characters can be seen. It's a blessing.

I miss the old trolls.  Like the guy who used to talk about how terrible DA was and how much better ME was but he'd never played any DA.

It's only in its infancy right now, still on chapter one but I have so many plans: http://archiveofouro...pters/11778419

I hear you. I used to lurk FF.net in the dead of night leaving insanely long anonymous critiques of Mass Effect and Fable fics (always accompanied by praise, mind you). The longer my review, the more I loved the work and thought it deserving of my time. Reading period is good for writing, but taking note of what others do well in addition to where they slip up is invaluable. I just enjoy helping others to give their precious ideas the care they are due. Unfortunately, line editing is pretty much impossible when relegated to the comment box. Why don't I beta again?
