It's so beautiful
Neverland's banter made me remember: How come spirit!Leliana had no idea who Solas was and did not think there was something off about him?
Because spirit!Leliana wasn't aware she was a spirit.
Is that possible?
Cole didn't know he was a spirit.
This is a really interesting topic. I've never really thought about it before since Leliana is alive in all my play throughs, but it does make me wonder. Did she really not know she was a spirit? Cole didn't know he was one but unless I'm mistaken (because I never read the book) he thought he was a ghost. Did she eat and sleep like regular people (aka not Cole)? I guess people would have noticed if she didn't which means she probably had more of a person body than Cole does. It's weird she just up and dissipated then. I mean more spirit Cole is able to, but he accepts himself as a spirit using a human body. If Leliana spirit thought she was just Leliana then how did she come to the conclusion that she was a spirit and leave the waking world? Something had to make her realize she was a spirit unless she knew all along in which case we're back to Drosophila's question. Divine intervention perhaps? I think it's kind of sad to think that she thought she was alive only to realize she wasn't... maybe she knew all along she was a spirit but never said anything about Solas because it wasn't the *Maker's will? And she could of kept quite for the same reason Cole did... which is?
*Coughs* the devs will to reveal that yet
Good morning, I found a pic of us all.
This looks like heaven. I want to be the third one from right to left that looks so lazy and blissful.
I realize that a lot of indies can do so much because they're working with so little, so changing something doesn't cost very much. (I went on a whole tangent about that before realizing it's unnecessary and cutting it.) But that's also precisely my point. Did we really need two voice actors for both genders? Did we really need the Hissing Wastes, the Forbidden Oasis, the Emerald Graves? Did BioWare really have to invest time and resources into luxuries like that, when they could've better refined what's already there? As you said, these games are so reactive because they have low graphics, or no voice acting. Some people qualify that as a negative, but it makes me ask - why have voice acting? Why have high-fidelity graphics? Would a stylized route work better? Would a voiceless protagonist work better? Are the things we obsess over, like graphics fidelity or open-world exploration, really needed to make an enjoyable experience for the player? Why constrain yourself like that, when you have so many resources and so much manpower, when you could make something incredible if you just stepped back and re-assessed what a game needs to be good?
I could play a Baldur's Gate or PS:T style game and be perfectly happy with limited VA and graphics. But that stuff doesn't exist just because it's pretty. It's there to boost immersion, which is also important in an RPG. Maybe it's not as important to some players as it is to others. I mean, I'm fine with a grid, some plastic miniatures, and some friends ![]()
But IMO it's important to remember that the folks on this forum, while we are BioWare's most consistent demographic, are not representative of most of their players. BioWare is part of a triple-A studio now, and there are certain things that gamers expect of triple-A studios, that they need to sell their games and keep their jobs. Like VA, animation, or graphics. (Remember the hulabaloo over Witcher 3's PC graphics?) Those things, at least in terms of RPGs, tend to fall more on the side of immersion and less on the side of responsiveness. Is that a good thing? IMO it's a wash, and the answer depends on what you as a player value in your RPGs. Immersion certainly has its place; not gonna lie, the wooden animations and expressions for the Warden back in DA:O certainly jolt me out of the game.

Can I be the calico sitting on top of everyone else with the face that says "I don't give a sh*t"?
This looks like heaven. I want to be the third one from right to left that looks so lazy and blissful.
I think I'm the one on the far right who's awake and displeased with being awake.

Can I be the "Soon"-gray one behind the calico?

I think I'm the one farthest to the left (or well, the head that is farthest to the left... it's hard to tell where one body ends and the other begin!), sleeping soundly.

That one is also me. Though I suppose I could have just skipped having coffee and reading the boards, and gone back to sleep.
For some reason reading about people being pissed off about my favorite character is really entertaining.
Hehe, just thought I'd pay the thread a little visit.
I kinda miss you guys...
*hugs*
Yep, we're catching you and keeping you in the blanket fort. You can have your pick of our cookie selection.

Foolish creature, you think you can defeat me? Your attempts against me are futile, as is your very existence.

She looks comfy and peaceful and I need a hug right now.

And I nominate the calico one sitting on top of everyone to be threadad. ![]()

Eh, I've had discussions with some of those people in other threads, so I know that while on some topics the debates can be dynamic and interesting, when it comes to others (for example, Solas and his motivations) I may as well shouting at a wall...
I want make a cheesy comment about it being sunnier in the Blanketfort now... oops just did!
Welcome back!
