I am surrounded by screaming toddlers right now.
Frankly I take an undue amount of satisfaction that in Inquisiton there are only adults, bizarrely tall teenagers, and Kieran. And NO ONE ELSE.

Who? Us?
Fly'harel strikes again?
Only since everyone else did it. I'll keep it to the smut thread, I promise.
Oh, I thought he found Sera puzzling. In their first few banters he tries really hard to make Sera understand what it means to be elven. I think he gets exasperated and gives up after some time, but his banters with Sera were some of the few times where I thought he could have just stopped.
Though perhaps that wasn't what you meant by him being dumbfounded...
That's an interesting way to see it, but I think that's more of an example of something major he knows but doesn't understand about elves today.
I mean something more akin to this: What if Lavellan gives him a hickie? And his body pre-veil would never get one. So now he's freaking out, looking at the hickie and thinking, "WTF is this? What's happening to me?"

Yeah, which I why I dropped my philosophical rant on the thread and didn't come back. Then real life went to pot too
Sigh, I need cookies. Or hard cider. Or both.

Who? Us?
Hahaha no, I work at a daycare.
There's way too much smut on this thread for any of us to be toddlers. We are, at best, giggling pre-teens.
In DA: O, it was said that the Wardens could go up to thirty years before the Calling really started to take hold, but there was no guarantee that it would not start much sooner. I think people want their Warden to live forever, but I kind of think of the taint like cancer - sometimes it takes you right away, just like that, sometimes you linger for years.
As long as the devs want to keep writing in little side things for people who have Wardens that are still kicking, I think that's cool, but don't pretend that they can't go at any time. It kind of takes away from the horrific nature of what was done to them to become a Warden.
To be honest, I'd guess Solas would have got way more love if he was female, and Sera probably more hate too.
I love how in Skyrim the dog sized spiders are called 'spiders' and it's only when they get bigger that they get the lable 'giant spiders' which implies that is the base size of spiders in Tamariel and by 'love' I mean 'hate'.
And on the subject of things I love: whatever mod added in the random chance of tiny fast spiders whenever I search a websack because that's great. Really great.
I have to mod out the spiders in Skyrim otherwise I would be probably having panic attacks. Or simply be unable to play.
Speaking of, I kind of just avert my eyes and do some very crappy wild avoidance as much as possible in ESO so if you I can ever match up timewise with those ESO players here, you will have to handle a larger share of spider duty. I....will be somewhere in the back.
Male cockney accents don't grate on my ears as much as female ones (and I can say that because I have a pack of gossiping aunts who all sound like her), so yes, I probably would have preferred Sera male.
And Flemeth was a lying ancient elvhen god in disguise, sort of, and everybody freaking loves her.
I doubt it would make a difference at all tbh.
What song is your hellspiral song?
Also, Geralt's job is to stop hellspirals isn't it? I coulda sworn Vessimir included that in the lectures somewhere...

Fair point, if Sera was voiced by Michael Caine I would definitely hate her less.

Indeed. That simply is feminist nonsense.
For instance, I think both Gaspard and Celene are horrible people. See? Their intimate parts don't matter.
Selfish, power hungry murderers are equally despicable no matter their gender. Yay equality!
Hellspiral song:
As for Geralt, I wouldn't know. I'm not that far into the first game. But if I'm hellspiralling over the Witcher, I get a temporary reprieve from the Solas hellspiral
Here is my Hellspiral song I love it so much it hurts! ![]()
So, RL problem here.
I was looking at Zevran stuff( I know, I know).....and came across a post on tumblr featuring this guy.

And I was all, OMF that looks like a RL Zevran with black hair@.@
So then I find out this is from a show called The Musketeers and I'm all like "Waaaah? I love period dramas!! I'ma watch this!" And making time to watch a show is a big deal for me since most of the time I'm watching MLP, Pingu and Clifford.
But now I feel bad cause my husband has been begging me for months to watch the Walking Dead. But I haven't because I'm not into zombies.
.............

Sera wasn't cockney, though.

You say 'feminist' like it's a bad thing.
Sera wasn't cockney, though.
I'm not sure what to call it, that regional accent in particular gets on my nerves. I still get over it and recruit her because I like to have a full pack of companions.

And with that said, he turned his back to her. She blinked but, after a moment, a mischievous glint lit her eyes. She crept up behind him and Solas, still thoroughly (obliviously) engrossed in his studies, could do nothing but give a startled yelp when he felt the slender hand grab his backside. He turned widened eyes over his shoulder only to be met with a grin and a giggle.
I accidentally misread that as "She blacked out after a moment...."
and thought, well, uh, that's an intense scene.
It's actually a bit of a smutty scene so it's supposed to be part of a series of actions so it's probably fine just to say it and leave it in simple terms, which is what I have right now.
Actually, I think if Solas was a woman, some people might be inclined to disregard the threat he poses. I've read this sad (hilariously ironic, but sad nonetheless) about a study that found out that hurricanes with female names kill more people.... because we fear them less.

(also, what's with me and articles/studies today? XD I'm in a 'sciency' mood I think)
Awww yiss, muthafuckin' equality!
Thing is... you can't judge people that fast. If we have two villains who are greatly similar as characters and yet they get opposite reactions from the fandom, then sure. It could be a little suspicious.
Other than that, the assumption that opinions are motivated by gender tends to be baseless.
PS: I absolutely love Sera.
Perhaps for some gender may have been a factor. Personally, I found Sera juvenile but not in a cute way. Honestly she reminded me of the wacky talking animal side kick that jrpgs are so fond of, and they're almost never female, so well done, Bioware, for branching out, I guess?
Comparing her with Solas though is silly because they're such drastically different characters. He's a grumpy old chap who pities your ignorance. That's going to irritate some people no matter the gender.

I'm not sure using Gaspard and Celene works, but for the reason we don't spend the vast majority of the game with access to them.
I happen to like both characters. I tend not to take Sera along because well... Varric and Bianca would kill me. My trusty dwarf
.
That being said, a lot of the dislike of Sera I've seen comes from people who are upset they can't sleep with her and don't play female characters. This is just what I've seen however, and I might be off base.
Solas, I don't know if it would have mattered in a gender swap, except for the fact that the Dread Wolf turns out to be a woman. But i'm not sure it would have made much of a difference.
Yeah, there's a reason why my Warden turned into a Knight in Sour Armor. She glossed over the Calling back in Origins; who cares if you're gonna die within 30 years if you stand a good chance of dying tomorrow? But as she got older, the reality of her situation sank in with a vengeance. She's basically Grumpy Cat: The Mage by DA:I
Yep, my Surana played every angle to stay alive, but the Calling is hanging over her like a greataxe on a frazzled thread.
I think it's a combination of him being really smart, the Fade reflecting the physical world, and him just being withdrawn and trying not to attract attention.
I think he's been conscious in the Fade for a long time and has prepared himself for waking up. He knows how to dress, how to speak, how to carry himself, the big things that everyone ought to notice.
But no matter how hard he tries, there are little things he'll miss and will have him dumbfounded.
However, most of the time everyone's too busy chasing Cory and all that to pay attention to him. Plus, it can always be explained by him being this weirdo who spent most of his life in the woods.
Yep, he's a tourist from another age, but because he's in a group of people from such disparate backgrounds, he blends in easily, and it's allowable for him to ask things like how Iron Bull gets shirts that have no buttons, on.
