I've been looking at art references/poses and every time I see a naked bald sample drawing...

Well, That's why I'm here. I need help.

But you're all enablers.  :P

This one in particular made me think of Solas... *falls over*

(Nothing is showing and it's just art reference but NSFW warning just in case.)

So Feynite has someone moderating her comments and deleting all of the rude commenter's posts. And this person decided to make a post this morning picking apart random lines in ch 15. I mean, c'mon! You already had a night of sleep. Just leave it alone! I know I'm beating dead horse at this point and I'm not going to bother responding to her new post. I wanted to complain on here. Argh.

I normally don't get involved in stuff like that, comment or anything, but I am really peeved that that person keeps going and can't be blocked.

If you're searching for a specific pose or you just want to study the body download Daz3D, you get a few models and few pre-defined poses (all for free) and you can move the camera around, scale, rotate and move things to create unique poses.

I know nothing about that commenter, but honestly they are coming off as someone who spends all their time tearing apart other peoples' stuff while remaining creatively constipated themselves and in a state of rage about it. Also clever, but not enough to stop shooting themselves in the foot.

I think Feynite will be OK. She's got lots of support online and seemingly IRL too. :)

Hm that Dorian post just gave me a thought. Imagine if all the characters - since they're all of a binary gender, to my knowledge - swapped to a different gender, but their sexuality stays the same. e.g. Solas becomes a straight girl, Cass becomes a straight guy, Dorian becomes a gay lady, Josephine becomes a bisexual man etc.

How happy would you be with that set of options? Who would you romance?

I'd be intrigued to see how gender-swapped Solas would work because a lot of his traits - the quiet scholar who believes in reason - are depicted as overwhelmingly male ones 99% of the time (that's not a criticism, just an observation), and I'd be really interested to see how that would fare - how it would be put together, and how it would be received - with a woman. I think political figures, particularly impassioned radicals, are shown as male most of the time as well. I'd actually be really excited by the idea (but saddened at the lack of bisexuality, I feel for all you m!Lavellans still).

... the more I think about lady!Solas the more I love it, actually. The Dread Wolf defies all expectations and regulations - including gender ones.

I would romance Dorian or Cass in a heartbeat.

Probably be drawn more to Dorian because a lot of the traits I like in Cass come from her being a warrior woman.  Josie I would probably find quite dull as a man.  Bull... I get the feeling that Bull would be the most popular romance in the game.  Can you imagine how a lot of male gamers would react to an f!Qunari dominatrix?  Sera I would likely find unbearable.  I find her traits to be a lot more appealing in a woman.  I would 100% roll an m!Inquisitor to romance the adorkable KISA Cullen.  Solas I would still like and, like Morrigan, I'd be frustrated that she was locked into an m/f romance.

I get the feeling that if Dorian was a woman then the backlash against Bioware having a Gay Agenda would be even greater.  I mean, sexy, sassy, smart Tevinter mage and she's locked into f/f?  Yeah.  Dudebro gamers would freak out.

Okay, first... Boy this thread moves fast.

Second, quickly on Jack. Cee, you're absolutely right about Jack. So much of her character was gated behind the romance, and I wish that wasn't the case. She's probably one of the sweeter romances in any Bioware game, which floored me. And correct me if I'm wrong but prior to the Suicide Mission Jack comes into Shepard's quarters and they snuggle, not have sex.

Third, okay, Looking Glass? I've picked up it's a fic, and I'm going to assume from the reaction here, that is very worth it, but if I may ask what it's about. I know there's a blurb at the site, but sometimes that doesn't quite catch everything, if you take my meaning.

Fourth, sometimes I just hate humanity. I know there are trolls on the net, but for the love of God, what does a person get out of such stupidity? What happened to Feynite makes me long for the old listservs. Easier to smack idiots that way. Sorry, this is really a button. Any type of criticism, be it on a game, or fan work etc should always be constructive. There's absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out things that may be problematic etc, but one does so politely and with respect.

Five: Dorian is nice. Very nice. Facial expression, everything is fantastic and spot on. I actually did a double take.

Six: I've given up on trying to argue why Solas should be redeemed, because it feels like yelling at the rain, and that it's a black and white issue, when it isn't. I just distilled all my arguments into one quote and put it in my sig line. Because bless it all, it's true, especially in real life. Not easy sometimes, mind you, but true.

Seven: the art pieces are amazing. CapricornSun, thanks for finding them and sharing them here. I'd have missed a lot of them otherwise.

The blurb doesn't actually say much about the fic, it just gives the opening paragraphs from the fic, which tells you near nothing about it (it hooked me in though). Anyway, it's a time-travel fix-it fic. It's great if that's your cup-of-tea, but maybe not if otherwise. Feynite's praised for her depiction of Lavellan (who's intentionally been left ambiguous in terms of physical description so you can still insert your own Lavellan, while simultaneously having her own character who's a joy to read), and her original characters feel fleshed out and believable. Give it a try. :)

In regards to the commentor, it seemed to be that the person was trying to be exactly as you say; constructive in their critiscism and even padding it out with praise on what they did like. But as people started commenting on their criticism, things seemed to escalate and the reviewer is just lashing out now. If what they said about them receiving hate mail is true, I can't say I entirely blame them for descending into spitefulness. I just wish they didn't decide to take it out completely on Feynite by deconstructing her fic. Her response to the initial criticism was reasonable.

Suddenly I'm thinking Peter David's STNG novel Imzadi, and that's not a bad thing.

Ugh, that's even worse. The whole point of a comment section is to communicate with the author not to play wack-a-mole with fellow readers.

What a mess. I'm glad that it sounds like Feynite isn't letting this put her off. And holiday season's a good time to take a break anyway.

The way my reading list is expanding, I have to wonder if I'll ever write again, though. :)

I think it depends on how butch they'd make Bull. In the game, his expressions and general demeanour is quite masculine - legs often apart, takes up plenty of space with confidence, drinks lots of booze, hits things when angry. If they stick close to that outline, then it'd be interesting to see how they approach Bull as a woman.

In terms of myself - I always prefer a female PC, so female Solas would probably be 'the second morrigan' for me - the attractive, mysterious apostate who I am immediately drawn to but immediately frustrated with because she sadly isn't into women (Morrigan would have totally been my first bioware romance experience and probably my canon if she were into girls too), except probably ten times worse.

I think I would definitely be ok with Cassandra though. Dorian as well - I like Dorian, but not as much as a lot of people. Sera would be great if they managed to capture that childish aspect of her well enough.

I would definitely roll a male character just to chase Cullen and Solas tbh. Both should have been bisexual options if they had the time and resources imo.

I agree with you, but I worry about what people might have thought if Solas was bi. Lot's of people think my community is a bunch of confused *ssholes already. As much as I would've loved the representation, I would have really been bothered by all the Solas hate more, and how so many people would have pinned the problems they have with his character onto his sexuality, even if subconsciously.

Right when I heard about that "bisexual villain" trope (something like that), my heart sunk. It is exactly what a lot of the extreme Solas haters would do, or even just ignorant people who don't like him, and don't understand bisexuality.

If that trope didn't exist, however, and Solas was bisexual, that would have made me extremely happy. He's my favorite character from anything ever, and it would have been so special to me, as well as a lot of other people, probably.

That trope comes from the negative stereotypes of bisexuals, which does make me sad. If only not so many people thought we were confused and bad people :(

Yes, but Feynite did not ask for criticism, constructive or otherwise, and has publicly stated that she would prefer not to get those kinds of comments on the fic because it freezes her up as a writer.

I realize that when an author puts something out there, people have a right to express their feelings, but they could at least respect them enough to do so in a space where it is not going to be abusive to the person they're giving criticism to. Like here, for example. We discuss and debate and criticize their work and it's a good venue for it - it's not up in her face, going directly to her inbox.

I like Cassandra mostly for her personality and character traits, so I would probably also really like a straight guy version too. I'm not particularly tied to warrior women or anything but Cassandra to me hits about 90% of the right notes with just how...earnest and caring, and open-minded she can be, how dedicated, how she gets adorably taken aback if you flirt with her. She's even religious and it's important to her but she isn't pushy about it. I'm not religious and I found that aspect endearing. She'll suggest because her faith has done a lot of good for her, in her view, but she won't push you.

I mean, I think Cassandra is really, really attractive and I spent a lot of time looking at her face when playing (and also she has really nice hips and butt too ). Thanking the Maker for the DAI animation team, mocap, + Frostbite 3. :D

Having thought about this more, I love the Dorian BFF arc so very much that I think it might make me hesitate slightly, but lady Dorian would also be wonderful.

I think most of us having this discussion are bi, but yes, I found it very thoughtful when after Trespasser, Weekes could finally confirm that they didn't have Solas as a bi romance option because they wanted to avoid coming near that trope.

Dorian as a best friend is absolutely my favorite for him. Not that I don't have plans to pair him with my Bash Trevelyan, but the friendship story they wrote with him was really wonderfully done and gave me all sorts of warm and fuzzy feelings. I will admit I contemplated putting in a bi mod for about 2 minutes. After thinking about it though, it just didn't sit well with me. Why do any of the characters have to alter their sexuality for the players. They are written in a specific way for a reason. I no more want to see Dorian as Bi than I would want to see it with Sera, Cullen or Cassandra. It's not who they are and for anyone to say they should be otherwise diminishes the importance of being able to chose and express our own sexuality.
