Yes, but Feynite did not ask for criticism, constructive or otherwise, and has publicly stated that she would prefer not to get those kinds of comments on the fic because it freezes her up as a writer.
I realize that when an author puts something out there, people have a right to express their feelings, but they could at least respect them enough to do so in a space where it is not going to be abusive to the person they're giving criticism to. Like here, for example. We discuss and debate and criticize their work and it's a good venue for it - it's not up in her face, going directly to her inbox.
It wouldn't be half-bad if it was actually legit criticism, but what happened was in the first comment the person who's made a fuss basically passively-aggressively threatened to stop reading her fanfiction unless Feynite caves to her whims and doesn't end the chapters with cliffhangers... Which is both arrogant, entitled and as childish as people threatening to say, unsubscribe from YT channels of a relatively popular Youtuber, if they either won't produce content they want or stop producing what they don't want... As if their patronage was essential to that person or something :/ I'm not any popular Internet person, but it's definitely a behavior that irks me to no end when I see it and if it happened to me I'd only say "good riddance - and don't let the door hit you on the way out
!"
Seriously... If someone is so bothered by cliffhanger in a freely available fanfiction that we get to see a new chapter of every few days, they probably should just stop reading it until the series is either done or almost done. Problem solved.
