Thank you Capricorn! In fact your art posts are part of the encouragement that made me want to start. I remember when I first joined this thread and your art posts were one of my favorite parts .

As frustrated as I get with Solas, I still think he's very much worth trying to save. I still think he's a character with a good heart. Or I would have erased him from my headcanon ages ago instead of spending all this time angsting over his motives. 

 

I don't know how it's going to turn out and I've sort of given up on the romance, but I still intend to try and save that egg. That's still going be my #1 reason for playing the next game.

 

And also he's hot.

Vivienne was always in my team with Solas. And it's funny cause the characters I least liked in the beginning became my favourites: Vivienne, Cole, Dorian and Sera.

 

I remember hearing Dorian drop the F bomb on his dad and I was like "woah woah woah woah, settle".

I remember not being able to understand what Sera was even saying.

I remember thinking Cole was strange.

I remember I couldn't relate to Vivienne.

 

I've changed so much and now I love them all.

I admire her toughness and ambition, how she does not give a damn and perseveres towards her goals. She's unapologetic and she plays the Game, but she's strangely honest about it. Plus, her snark is delicious.

The way she talks is so much like my Aunty it makes me feel at home with her. I think that's what drew me to her. My Lavellan had fun learning the game from her, even though they disagreed at every turn about the Dalish and mages. It was an interesting relationship! I also enjoy her dresses. I always kept her in the flowy one, and she was the only other character I really liked to run around with. Her.. posterior mesmerized me.

What in the epilogue made her stop growing on you?

 

Her Divine ending has her declaring war on the Collage and only sparing the leaders out of respect to the Inquisitor.  In her non-Divine ending she goes off in a sulk because Cass wont listen to her, or because Leliana is being too radical.  She reforms the Circle but she holds the power, not the mages.  She proves that for all her talk she only cares about her own position and power.

Iron Bull would've been called Shokrakar (okay, maybe not but a girl can dream).

 

I've seen fanart of fem!Dorian.  She is... wow.  Probably wouldn't be hellspirialing in here if Dorian were a woman.  For a start I wouldn't have romanced Fem'Harel since that would've involved rolling a male character.  Would've been annoyed that, once again, the mysterious plot important female mage was male only.

 

Fem!Dorian/Shokrakar would've been much better received than Adoriabull, I think.

Oh, she's very attractive and I love her character in general   But when it comes to F/F romances, I like to play the knight in shining armor courting the Disney princess.

Edit: Also, if you've seen Fate Zero, I couldn't ship Saber/Irisviel any harder.

Hm that Dorian post just gave me a thought. Imagine if all the characters - since they're all of a binary gender, to my knowledge - swapped to a different gender, but their sexuality stays the same. e.g. Solas becomes a straight girl, Cass becomes a straight guy, Dorian becomes a gay lady, Josephine becomes a bisexual man etc.

How happy would you be with that set of options? Who would you romance?

I'd be intrigued to see how gender-swapped Solas would work because a lot of his traits - the quiet scholar who believes in reason - are depicted as overwhelmingly male ones 99% of the time (that's not a criticism, just an observation), and I'd be really interested to see how that would fare - how it would be put together, and how it would be received - with a woman. I think political figures, particularly impassioned radicals, are shown as male most of the time as well. I'd actually be really excited by the idea (but saddened at the lack of bisexuality, I feel for all you m!Lavellans still).

... the more I think about lady!Solas the more I love it, actually. The Dread Wolf defies all expectations and regulations - including gender ones.

 

I think my characters' romances would be like:

 

Surana - Morrigan (she is fascinating, although I did find the way she gave approval and disapproval at times to be a bit... disturbing)

Hawke - Aveline! But I guess I have to pick Isabella (I do like Merrill, but I found her at times to be too childlike to be able to romance her)

Lavellan - Cassandra (that woman is just amazing! )

FemAlistair's heterosexuality would be my bane but I can't see her romance working the same way with a female character anyway.  The Warden would have to be the Knight to her Lady rather than the other way around, or I can't see her being a popular LI with male players.  She'd be very popular with f!players if she was FemAlistair with the same romance but also a lesbian.

 

Male Morrigan.  Yes please.  Shirtless swampostate with a hidden agenda who is tall, dark and snarky?  Wooooooooh.  But his romance wouldn't go over well with female players since it would pretty much require their character to become pregnant.

I do like that they don't feel the need to give Saber a romance or to make her number one goal or regret about a romance. Saber is easily one of my favorite female anime characters, but I loved Lancer so naturally I'm inclined to fanciful daydreams *.*
