Really? I thought we were all down with the egg thread euphemisms: hallahole, jackhalla, mother halla...  :P

Nope, guess I learned something today!

Sorry, gonna hijack this to get in my rant for the day:

WTF is up with that questioner? Being feelsy, or sensitive, or upset, or in ANY way emotional about Solas's breakup does not make Lavellan weak.  It does not make her players weak.  That kind of wording stems from this utterly asinine idea that we've been spoonfed from childhood: you have to always be happy.  And if you're sad, you can't show it.  You have to hide it behind a facade of manliness if you're gendered male, or cheeriness if you're gendered female.

This attitude of sadness = weakness is absolute horses***.  And more than that, it's self-destructive horses***.

Pixar figured it out.  We need the full spectrum of emotional experience to be functional people, and painting pain (physical or emotional) as weakness doesn't do anybody any favors.

Exactly, and ****** off to anyone that says otherwise. I grew up in a household where to show vulnerability was capitalized on by my siblings and one parent. As a young adult I struggled to deal with my own emotions and any situations that caused, hurt, or angst I released as anger instead of the appropriate emotions. I refused to cry instead I raged, and slammed doors, screamed and cussed. It took years of therapy to realize how damaging it was to live like that. Now I cry  or at least tear up at the dumbest feelsy commercials, and kids movies. I embrace it, and am a much happier person because of it. I just need tissues nearby for any occasion. :P

Yeah, I expect a hellspiral of pain when this is over.

It occured to me while reading the posts about the Tresspasser tiles that Solas' personal mission in the game might parallel on a smaller scale the choices you can make as a player about Solas' character.

Just like with his friend, maybe you'll have to kill Solas as a Pride demon or alternatively help him revert back to his true nature as a spirit of Wisdom.

And we all know what happened to Wisdom at the end of the quest :(

I have plans to make this better.

But I realized my plans will make Solas look really bad.

Like really bad.

>_>

Poor Wisdom. Poor June.

That sounds very familiar.  *le sigh*

I still sometimes have the emotional range of a teaspoon, but now when that teaspoon is dipping into the sad feels, I let it do its thing

Been out of the loop for a bit... just saw this tweet from Patrick Weekes, and WTF? Did I miss something? Former lead writer?

Patrick uses Former Lead Writer Guilt on @SherylChee! Its level of effectiveness is TBD!

Maybe he was talking about David Gaider?

I'm certainly hoping so, else this doesn't bode well for a new Dragon Age game.

Do you think he'd answer? Really? One of us crazy, paranoid eggheads?

I think he would.  You're asking him to clarify his job due to an ambigous tweet, not get inside information on Solas.

I have no clue what that might mean.

If Sheryl Chee works in a different team (MEA perhaps?) then he'd be indeed former lead writer for her.

I was all OMG they fired him! So, yes, I'm probably slightly paranoid. I'm also too shy to ask :(

He also said Solas was a totally ordinary apostate, nothing to see here, move along citizen. You can't fool me, Weekes! You deliver great characters at the expense of my delicate little heart!

Dang it, I should have just romanced Josephine. Do you see her trying to burn down the world, Solas? No, no you don't, because that would be a totally unreasonable thing to do.

Yes... but there is a difference between tongue-in-cheek necessity before the game ships and trying to offer some comfort of a sort to people that romanced Solas. :P  Seriously, the moment I read the part about Solas being a normal elf apostate I knew we were in for it. Just not how. I can see how people might not have caught the jest in that, but...

And I did romanced Josephine with another character. Sort of. Broken hearts all around!

Abso-f*cking-lutely. I still can't cry or be honest about things that upset me with an audience. I come across as an unsympathetic hardass because I can't bring myself to be emotional in front of anyone. Frankly that's probably why I love games packed full of feels, I get to vicariously vent my emotions.

Seriously guys, emotions are just the best. Lets not pretend we don't have them.

I just imagined him sighing, perturbed by the imaginings of obsessed Bioware fans, and saying to himself, "Nope. I' think I'll just let them worry about this one."

I started a new thing. Eventually it's supposed to have magic and science. So far it has lots of cheese.

(Sorry if you were looking for coherent feedback.  My love of magi-tek dystopia is getting the better of me)

I really liked this bit:

“It’s a human name.”

Human. The word sounds familiar but it takes him a moment to recall its meaning. “Aren’t they all dead?”

“Yes,” she replies, her voice bizzarely hollow. “But their names are not.”

Bookmarked for future installments!

You guys are starting to make me feel guilty for neglecting my actual fic project.  Instead of just barfing AU fluff all over the thread every few days :P
