So he's a self taught elven apostate with an interest in exploring ancient ruins and history and communing with spirits. Sounds like to a Dalish he'd be considered the equivalent of a long lost relative that became a crazy mountain man and was raised by bears or something.

Solas sounds like such a nice, even-keeled, intellectual, and selfless companion. He sounds like just the type of BFF for my erudite qunari warrior. I'm really looking forward to learning more about him. He sounds great.
And yes this, it's refreshing and awesome.

Although I've been intrigued by him since he was first revealed the fact that he's written by Patrick Weekes has just shot him way up in the 'list of companions I'm looking foward to meeting'.

My Qunari Warrior wouldn't hate him to much i think, since we live outside of the Qun for our Quiz

[DA]: What makes the Fade so interesting?
[PW]: Okay, so, the Fade—bear with me, this gets a little weird—the Fade is the spirit side of the Dragon Age universe. It’s this incredible place full of dreams and memories, imprints left behind by powerful emotions or events in our world. Solas has trained himself to do something a lot like lucid-dreaming. He goes to ancient ruins where the Veil is thin, goes to sleep, and actually experiences the history of places no one else has seen in centuries.
[DA]: Is that sort of vision accurate?
[PW]: Absolutely not. It’s based off people’s memories, right? Ask ten different witnesses at a crime scene to describe what happened, and you’ll get all kinds of conflicting information. Solas knows that everything he sees in the Fade is subjective and imperfect. It’s like a gigantic Wikipedia entry full of “[citation needed]” notes, but still, Solas has found some amazing things.
---
[DA]: In addition to dealing with the world’s perception of mages, he’s also elven. How does he deal with that much adversity?
[PW]: Honestly, Solas hates people who look at him and just see an elf. He considers that kind of attitude part of the black-and-white dichotomy that has led to so much tragedy in the Dragon Age world. Templars versus mages, demons versus spirits, elves versus humans… it’s more complicated than that. Come to think of it, “It’s more complicated than that,” may actually be Solas’s battle cry.
Sooo.
I won't lie: I never really formulated much of an opinion on Solas before, mostly because I barely knew anything about him. "Dreamer", yeah; "bald elf non-Circle mage", yeah. Other than that, nothing. So I didn't really ever think about him. One time, a friend and I were discussing the DA:I companions at a bar, and we could only remember eight of them. I had to grab a napkin and write them down before realizing that we'd left out Solas. My bad.
But this interview? Awesome. Especially the bolded stuff. Solas' approach to history and memory is wonderful; it's, uh, very familiar to me as a graduate student in history. This is probably a bit of a reach, but I don't care: he's a posthistoricist academic, right down to the scungy clothes and low-maintenance (lack of) hair. Hell, I know some people in the department who might be dead ringers for him. I think it'll be great to have somebody like that around - both for the positives (he can see ALL THE SHADES OF GRAY) and negatives (he might mistake darkness for noon). Not a character type you see in video games too often.
Now I'm officially excited about every single companion in this game. I'll be useless for months. Thanks,

Hi everyone! I don't know if it is a new "leak" but i saw at IMDB that Solas voice actor is Allen Leech, here is a source: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3763912/
That would be freaking amazing! Man, if IMDB is dicking us around... ![]()
I swear they're spying on us, didn't someone suggest that his title was going to be "The Mind" too? It's almost as if we've created his whole personality in this thread because it almost fits completely
I thought that too! They got his title wrong though, the correct title is "The Thighs" ![]()
YES ! Bioware, he needs to be a Bisexual romance. I mean he is open minded...
I hope so! I want to romance him every which way lol!

Ohhhh that reminds me of Roy Batty's ending speech in Blade Runner. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe..." I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing...
He'd better not disappear like tears in the rain!

Considering there is nothing I like more then an character with self taught views, rather then implemented ones, I think Solas is going to be one of my favourites.

maybe if he grew up in the wilderness he knows a lot about herbs, maybe it's his hobby, maybe he'll let the inquisitor come with him to pick dem herbs, maybe he wouldn't mind the inquisitor watching his thighs while he's at it

100 pages coming up, it's already reached almost 60 and it's not even 3 in the afternoonXDD
I don't like his nose but IB suffers from the same nose, other than that, I really really hope we have 2 bi Li's for this dragon age, PLEASE BIOWARE PLEASE!
(also i suspect he was last because it probably took longer to make him but i also wonder if perhaps bioware decided to delay as a last minute choice to make him an LI (holding onto positive straws) I'm at the point that having either IB or Solas as a romance will make me happyXD

I suggest you check out Ispan's art then, she drew a scene exactly like that a while ago, it's brilliant ![]()
