Would you prefer AI and cybernetic limbs or man-made viruses?
11 hours again today and Abelas' armor is now 2/3rds done.

Written something I wouldn't mind some feedback on. Is here or the writing group the best place to post it?
Depends
the writing group cab probably discuss it more detailed than here since it is dedicated to it and wont rail it offtopic, if you are worried. But surely it is fine to post it here too.
Would you prefer AI and cybernetic limbs or man-made viruses?
.... The viruses don't necessarily have to be man-made (maybe Martian-made or something xD)
Oh we made it past 5,700 pages
Yay!
Eight days until the year anniversary of Dragon Age Inquisition's release (in America at least. I'm not sure about the rest of the world
)! We should celebrate by sharing stories of our reactions to finding out who Solas really was, him leaving our party, or how we took the break up scene!
I'll just leave these here.

Oh man, that is beautiful and sad. Is there a fic behind it? I recognize the name geeky-jez from one of the modern AUs.
Oh goodness, it's almost been a year?!
*glares at hellspiral* You are a mighty persistent set of feels. Like an extra-feelsy parasite.
Haha
yeah, it's crazy!
I can't believe I've been talking to all of you for so long too! It seems like only yesterday that I made a BioWare account and shyly posted my first question posts
Next thing I know I'm a full blown gremlin (*shudders* childhood nightmares) of the Blanketfort writing fanfic and over long emotional posts about Solas! November 18 (and other release dates!) will celebrate a year of awesome fan art, fanfiction, fan theories and videos! Lots and lots of off topic discussions and incoherent ramblings about our favorite hobo not-god apostate elf!
All of you are amazing ![]()
IMO Cass totally ships Solavellan. At least, before it hits an iceberg of solid angst.
Lol. You know she's still rooting for them ![]()
I always imagine that the Inner Circle thinks Lavellan is a little too optimistic about being able to change Solas's mind.
Lavellan with a forced smile: We will find a way to change our friend's mind! He must listen to reason. Even if he did not hear me before... he will change his mind... he must.
Leliana: Yes, of course. I will need to make sure the agents being sent to Tevinter have time to research more final measures for dealing with Solas without the Inquisitor knowing.
Josephine: We will find a way to sto-- change Solas's mind! Oh, this is going to end horribly. I mustn't let my pessimism show! Just keep smiling. Solas will most certainly not destroy the world and we will be able to stop hi-- change his mind!
Harding: Sometimes sharp objects can help with changing people's minds! I wonder if that will work the same for a god... maybe something bigger...
*Lavellan no longer smiling and the room gets quiet*
Cassandra: Perhaps... perhaps we should bring up the possibility that we may not be able to change Solas's mind. We will not, but you will Lavellan by speaking to his heart! Do not give up on him my friend, love shall prevail! In the midst of all this chaos your feelings shall be a beacon bringing Solas out of the storm!
Edit: I wrote beckon instead of beacon... whoops!

Yet another reason I love Cassandra. I could see her saying and thinking just that. No sugar coating what might happen, because Cassandra, but also secretly rooting for them anyway because it's a great tragic love story. It's perfect.

Cass is totally still pulling for The Power of Love, and IMO softened!Leliana would too. Hardened!Leliana would be more cynical about their chances at redemption, and she would make very sure to have a contingency plan ![]()
If Solas were more like, say, Bishop from NWN2, I'd say the more cynical elements of the Inner Circle are right. Bishop never wanted to change; he acknowledged that something was very wrong with himself, but he'd given up years before the PC even met him. But Solas's situation is IMO different. He's stubborn and proud, but he outright admits that he'd like to be proven wrong. Some part of him is open to change, and IMO that means friend/romance quizzy stands a decent chance of saving him.
In my HC, Nirwen is very close with Leliana (softened) and that's one of two reasons I made the decision at the end of Trespasser that I did. I didn't like any of the options, but chose not to disband and to be peacekeepers under the Divine. Since everyone is drifting to their corners again afterward, Leliana is the only one who remains in close enough proximity to actually see one another, and in having an established professional, peacekeeper role under the Divine would give them additional reason/cover to do so.
I see her as also close to Cassandra, who will be around but also traveling and council business, as far as the end slides tell. But yes, I can totally see both of them being practical and realistic but also totally shipping it under all of that and believing it possible for love to be a key to redemption. ![]()

I totally read all of this in their respective voices!

I agree that the friendship and romance Inquisitor's stand a chance of changing Solas's mind! I think... although Solas made friends within the Inner Circle-- Cole, Cassandra, Bull, and Varric, with the exception of Cole I don't see them putting much faith into changing Solas's mind. At least not like the Inquisitor does. I have no doubt they hope to, but they weren't there to hear Solas and how he sounded like he really wanted a better option (for friendship) or how broken he sounded about the whole thing (for romance). They only have the Inquisitor giving their best rendition of what had happened and trying to explain "Yes, Solas wants to destroy Thedas as we know it, but he sounded really upset about it and I think he wants us to find him a better way!" I also think the Inquisitor and Solas's friendship is special, so it would stand that the Inquisitor is more willing to go out on a limb for him. ![]()
But since you made me think of it, who do you think would be the most forgiving of Solas's actions and plans out of the Inner Circle and the least? I think,
Cole as the most forgiving!
Varric... and then I'm not really sure. Bull, maybe?
As for least I'm definitely saying Vivienne and then Sera... maybe even Cullen. It isn't like he knows Solas well, so he's pretty much only judging him by his actions.

I think a lot would depend of how much they've known him themselves and how much they believe he either loved or respected the Inquisitor - as well as how much they love and respect the Inquisitor. I mean, he/she already manage to prove himself/herself (or... well... not) as Inquisitor and as a friend to them, so depending on their personal bonds I don't think they'd dismiss Inquisitor wanting to redeem Solas as, say, crazy talk.
Then there's of course the question of what we'll found out during DA4 - if it turns out that there's another threat that Solas could help with if he was convinced to change his plans, than there would be an objective reason for Inner Circle members to try and pull him on their side.

Cole is definitely the most forgiving. Even human!Cole has trouble separating intention from consequence. Solas is well-intentioned, "not that kind of wolf." So Cole thinks well of him, despite the potential consequences of his actions.
Least forgiving...I'd say Cullen. Sera and Vivienne never liked Solas to begin with, so while they'd still IMO have low opinions of him, I don't their opinions would change as much as Cullen's. They didn't interact much in DA:I, but according to WoT 2, Cullen at least had respect for Solas.
Cullen is not a paranoid man, but he is quick to turn against perceived betrayal. Just listen to the anger and disdain in his voice when he talks about Thom Rainier. And he's seen firsthand how quickly good intentions pave the road to hell.

It seems it's gonna be the feels corner for me today.

Yes, there was anger and disdain in Cullen's words, but then he actually turns around and admits that he helped Inquisition and owns up his past the moment he seemingly can shake it off. inky can even say that he's impressed by that, if I remember it right.
IMO I think the one most against Solas may be Vivienne - his plans threaten the established world and her own position in it; not just in a sense that he wants to destroy it, but, well... he created the Veil. And he knows many secrets of ancient past that may still turn the world on its head ideologically.
As for Sera - I think a lot would depend on relationship with Inky and if he/she helped them grow. She'd probably still be kinda 'eh' about him (I mean, the whole 'elfy' thing may annoy him, but at least it's not a 'fancy dress', like in case of other 'elfy elves'), but I think she may at least understand what he's trying to do, to a degree at least.
It seems it's gonna be the feels corner for me today.
I don't think I leave the feels corner anymore, one way or another.
At least there's company.
I mean, there could be fewer flies....
It's okay! We were only discussing it a page ago, actually, I wrote a response:
Though I hadn't considered the idea that it was Mythal's orb that was stolen, and presented as his own here, in which case there would be little evidence indicating that he was an Evanuris. He does mention in Trespasser, in one of the dialogue options:
Inquisitor: How were you able to control the anchor?
Solas: The mark you beat was bestowed upon you by the Orb of Fen'Harel. My Orb.
There is really not much reason for him to lie here, I think? I'm not sure what he'd lose by telling Inky that it was Mythal's orb, so I think there's some truth to what he says here. Unless Mythal's orb was left to him after her death - it became his orb naturally, because he was her second, perhaps?
He's very smart and he doesn't lie... But he conceal the truth, by not telling you everything you might want to know. He probably does not see the need to, at the same time he can't through the game because then it would be game over. "I'm revealed. Hi Iam Fen'harel!" So yes he made the orb therefore it's he's/his. In my opinion he he is like a mage Albert Einstein sort of...
Ps: I am not good with writing long posts.
I think a lot would depend of how much they've known him themselves and how much they believe he either loved or respected the Inquisitor - as well as how much they love and respect the Inquisitor. Of course
the very fact that they're all seemingly on board for this redemption thing goes to show how much they respect the Inquisitor and that they don't think Solas is completely beyond saving!
That's what I'm hoping for! Hopefully whatever it is it isn't completely Solas's fault (like he accidentally released the Evanuris)! I'm rooting for the Well drinker releasing the Evanuris because of a compulsion from Mythal or something catastrophic with the Titans!
Cole is definitely the most forgiving. Even human!Cole has trouble separating intention from consequence. Solas is well-intentioned, "not that kind of wolf." So Cole thinks well of him, despite the potential consequences of his actions.

Yeah, and even though Cullen is a lot more open-minded now I still don't think the ex-Templar faithful Andrastian will be to happy with Solas being a not-god super mage who wants to tear down the Veil.

This will be my Lavellan's propaganda. Who will take the Dread Wolf seriously when she has these posted on every bare wall across Thedas? As he comes out to see all the supporters he has amassed only Merrill and Dagna will standing in his wake asking for autographs!
It was strange how little Lavellan responded to insults against her elfiness. I wanted to play a super abrasive, team Elgar'nan, screw all you shems, type Lavellan. Instead I was forced to be respectful of everybody's religions while they laughed at mine. Sure, the Dalish beliefs are wrong, but so are the Chantry beliefs. I didn't even get the chance to laugh in their faces because the blight predates the magisters, why am I being forced into playing as a nice guy??
What gives Bioware? Where's my racist renegade Lavellan?
I know what you mean. I also wanted to play that sort of Elf even in Dao and it kind of the same feeling there...
I was listening to some music files the other day, and I realised that this song kinda sorta fits Solas in Trespasser:
Yes, "The Man Who Sold the World"! I've had that song stuck in my head lately while I've been working on my Solas as Scrooge thing. The problem is it's one of those songs that I don't know all the words to, so it's just a riff and a couple lines on loop. GAH!
Recently "As the World Falls Down" from Labyrinth popped up on my ancient MP3 player, and it gave me major post Trespasser feels. I recommend giving it a listen if it's been a while.
And, speaking of Solasesque Bowie songs...try this one. It's a perfect sad, wandering fade nerd Solas song.
