Pretty much this.  Fandom comes up with so many things that shoot straight past the Despair Event Horizon.  So the only way Solavellan could really destroy me is if the ball gets dropped on storytelling.  And I trust Patrick Weekes' ability to hold onto a writing ball.

I'm probably waaay overthinking this. I mean, it's COMPLETELY possible that the only reason these re different is because a different stock image was used... but the moon from Hissing Wastes is different from the one in Frostback Basin.

And I do mean different. Even taking into consideration the shadow and lighting placed, these two simply don't overlap.

Sooo... either Thedas' moon isn't tidally locked (like in case of ours, hence we only see one side of it), or this isn't the same moon

 

In fact Hissing Wastes moon appears to be much bigger than the Frostback Basin one (though that can be explained by the moon having a stretched elliptical orbit).

 

Like I said... probably overthinking it. I mean, the JoH moon has lighting that suggests that the sun should be visible on the sky (unless it's illuminated by Fade sun, LOL) - and that's aside from the fact that moon this big should probably be visible on the sky at a day too (plus, I know that DAO moon had a different texture as well).

Yeah, which makes me wonder if it's the same moon or is it in fact the mysterious second moon... I man, in JOH they couldn't make it look more... mysterious and important for some reason.

I am out of likes. It is almost certainly his fault. Too much Fade? Solas did it. Not enough Fade? Solas did it. Too many moons? You bet your ass it was Solas.

If my brain was working better I would have some sound scientific theory as to why only one is seen at a time, but the best I can come up with is, Satina is hiding in the shadow of the larger moon and is only seen during rare events that happen once every thousand years or so.

 

Or each moon takes two days to obit the world and we see a different moon every other night.

Considering that the eclipse is either responsible for him stirring or downright waking up, at least according to the Emergent Compendium (http://dragonage.wik...gent_Compendium) he definitely has something to do with the moon.

 

I wonder... maybe we don't see the second moon or its nature eludes us more because it's somehow um... behind the Veil? Or in the Fade?

 

I mean, if you look at the Hissing Wastes moon, you can see that its dark side still covers the stars behind it, as it should - while the moon in JoH looks like.. um... a ghost moon? Like, we only see the illuminated side, but there's NO dark side - we can see the stars that logically should be behind moon's shadowed part.

You deserve a like for the phrase 'ghost moon', but I'm all out.

This is the spirit of a moon long dead and forgotten, the lingering memories projected from the Fade the only evidence of its existence.

oh god I loved so much of it. I loved the characters first of all - I think the moment I decided I was absolutely in love with the game was when I realised I could ask a skeleton on a date. The thing really kicks off during Snowdin - Sans & Papyrus are a combination for life, but it just gets better and better. I absolutely love have a small crush on Undyne, she is incredible. I like how so many of the levels are set up as horror/suspense - the approach to Snowdin Forest, the shadowy spear-throwing sections in Waterfall - and then the characters behind them turn out to be such goofballs. Also Alphys is adorable . I think Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys are my favourites - especially Papyrus & Undyne's phone calls, those are absolute gems, I love how they're just great friends more than anything.
 
But I also really came to love the gameplay too. I like how each level is quite unique and you never feel that you're treading over the same old ground, or that you're never grinding. The puzzles are all different - and as someone who is bad at puzzles I appreciated how simple they were. I also think the level design is so pretty and I like how the colour palette for each is so strikingly different. It's a really fun game to play and it never feels like it's dragging. Also the True Labs really did spook me out, it was past midnight when I was finishing that up so eeeek.
 
Also, it sucked me in with feels. I never expected to care much, Undertale seemed like a cute, quirky game with a few really cool characters, but on the pacifist ending I was like NO FLOWEY YOU CAN'T DO THIS I LOVE THESE PEOPLE. I cried during the Asriel fight. By that point I had thoroughly spoiled myself because I didn't expect to be so invested... still cried, though.
 
In terms of playthroughs, I did a neutral playthrough where I killed a bunch of monsters during the ruins, spared Toriel (I refused to kill her, cheated and googled how), and then got chided by Flowey for killing a bunch of monsters with families. I felt so guilty that I played the rest of the game as a pacifist, at a grand total of level 3. Made the Hotlabs really quite difficult, although it meant replaying the pacifist run was a walk in the park.

I think I might do what you recommend with the no mercy/genocide run. I expect it to have more horror elements than usual, and I can't stomach horror games. I find films/books totally fine, but there's something about the interactive element, and usually the fact that I play alone, that really spooks me. Also, it'll screw up a pacifist ending, so it's probably one of the few games I genuinely don't ever want to 100%.

They are such goofballs, and it's so hard to choose a favorite because they're all so nice. *Sigh*

 

But the genocide run.. I'm not sure I'd call it horror. I'd call it more unsettling than actually horrifying. The game goes out of it's way to make you feel bad for your actions, and god does it succeed. That's the biggest problem for me outside of the difficulty - the game gives you so many chances to do better, and you find such great moments when you do. All of those dumb jerkwads keep chipping away at my resolution to murder them.

 

But, you might find it leaning more towards horror. While there's only one moment that I'd say is outright scary, the whole of it is definitely disturbing. The only issue with watching is there are so many little details that change on a genocide run, and watching a shorter runthrough might leave a lot of them out, but the thorough ones go for hours. :|

 

Uh, here's the shortest one I know of that doesn't leave any major stuff out.
