I don't have too many friends that play the same video games I do, and the ones that have played DAI haven't fallen into the Hellspiral. . My mom is addicted to Sims and Facebook games. I have no siblings. My ex is the one that got me into Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but since I don't talk to that lying POS anymore...I don't have anyone to talk to except you people. *sniffles and grouphug* ![]()

Out of interest, how many of you have friends you can talk to about DA in real life? A few of you mention family/sibling/parent/child reactions to Solas at times, whereas literally nobody in my family even knows I still play video games, we usually just bond over sport or gossip. My brother played a few things in his teens, still plays COD time to time, but has no interest in RPGs.
I know a few people who played the Witcher 3, and I have a few school friends who I no longer talk to who play similar things - one os a big ME fan in particular, loves anything with sci fi or zombies, another I know is big into Lara Croft and old platformers. But I'm mostly on my own here really when it comes to games. All of my IRL friends are much more into indie films or theatre, really.
I have kids that play, but even they get tired of hearing me talk about the game. Neither one have finished it, so I have to be careful about too many spoilers. The oldest wants to talk about it, but annoys me when he brings ups a theory that has already been proven/disproven in the game that he hasn't finished. (Same with DA:O and DA:II) So I come here to save them from my obsession.
With regards to playing RPGs: This conversation just recently happened between me and 2 other people.
Person 1: I'm obsessed with TV. I think I follow about 20 TV shows. I arrange my schedule around them, so that I can watch the new episode as soon as it comes out.
Me and Person 2: *nod affirmatively*
Me: It's OK to relax sometimes.
P2: Do you watch any TV?
Me: No, but I play this one video game a lot.
P1 and P2: *fervently shaking their heads in disapproval* Oh, I don't do anything like that!
Seriously this, this is annoying. So they prefer to sit like mindless drones watching shows. Personally I like the interaction of the game far more than watching a show I have no control over. I enjoy the thought process that goes into it the first time you make a decision, the tactical control and strategy to take on your adversary. Please, TV is for babies!

This was the rationale for my bestie's Trevelyan trying to redeem Solas. Their arc was more like rivalry, because she took huge approval hits with Solas early (allied Templars, saved Wardens), which she made up later on.
She was never as close to Solas as she was to the rest of the Inner Circle, but by the end they had a lot of respect for each other. So she figured it was a better idea to save the Dread Wolf rather than going all-out against him on his terms. I mean, we're talking about someone who can turn enemies to stone and create/rend the Veil.
Yes, but I don't just mean in terms of suggestions in the game itself, but outside of it as well, more towards the player rather than character of Inquisitor - I mean... "Lost Elf"?... as a title for a slow, somber version of Dread Wolf Dark Solas theme?
And then there's stuff like this:
... with the world "honourable" plastered right next to his face.
I wouldn't categorize stuff like these as subtle *wink wink, nudge nudge* moments ![]()

I have a quizzy who wants to redeem Solas and a quizzy who wants to smash his egghead into a pulp. Ideally, both stories would be equally good, but I have a feeling that's not going to be the case. I think the redemption arc will probably be more interesting, because villains are IMO more compelling when they have more shades of grey to them.

It's not the TV itself, it's the widespread misconception that video games are an unproductive timesuck and anyone who gives in to it is lazy. Sadly it's the kind of culture I was conditioned by. But somehow TV is OK?

Word.
I can't say I give 0 f**s, because tbh I crave approval, but I'm willing to do my part to change the culture. We'll make those gremlins understand.

I figure if they don't understand, it's not my problem. They'll never know the agony and ecstasy of the Solas hellspiral ![]()

I share some of Solas' desire to shape society to my liking.
While I'm definitely more the Varric. He's a much better writer, though. I can only aspire to the glorious heights of Swords and Shields ![]()

Now we just need a warrior for a full party.
Does someone feel like they resemble Cassandra? Or Iron Bull?
