I seriously promise I will put it off him once I can craft somethimg better :D It's just a start of hard mode playthrough with most trials on. I tried wearing it on Lavellan but she's the tank and it kinda hurted. ;)

Oh, don't mind us, it's your PT. Do what you like!

You have no idea how much his shoulders and navel disturb me in that.   I have certain HC aboabout him and as much it's not a stick figure, it wasn't that rippling 8 pack either... not that I mind. Just.

The navel.

I know right? Sometimes there are things in the game that are really powerful, but just do not work for me aesthetically. I remember when we didn't have the tinting table, and I'd get that one mage armor with the plaideweave on it and Solas would have to suffer for a level or two until I figured out how to make him something better.

My brother has similar abs without sculpting, he's scrawny like Solas. But. His work is carpentry and roof building.

I assume that's not what Solas does in his free time.

Given how many skills Solas has, I wouldn't put it past him.

Yep, you're all giving me ideas but I lack confidence in my ability to write something so goofy and light/funny.

Just imagine, the first thing Solas does when he brings down the Veil so he can manipulate the Fade in the real world and make dreams reality, is to give himself awesome abs. The Dread Wolf does not need to do crunches.

Ditching exercise is reason enough to tear down the Veil. I'd tear down the Veil of it means I don't have to go to the gym.

Also somehow my phone knows to automatically capitalize Veil.

You can always develop an allergy like me. :P

My phone, when I type so- always suggests Solas, no matter what. And sometimes when I just type "s".

From wherever he is, I'm sure you can hear Solas disapproving of this.

I absolutely love it! You've done a beautiful job on it! Thank you so very, very much!

That armor is one of the worst, imho. The anatomy is godawful and pretty clearly doesn't reflect the actual bodies or lifestyles (seriously, why would Solas go about sculpting his abs like he's some sort of eighteen-year-old baller? And Cole is supposed to look like he was literally starved to death) of the characters.

Every time I see that skin I just laugh my ass off.

The anatomy of bodies looks awful in that armour, the shoulders always look off to me, and so I just can't help but imagine some bored, bored bioware employee stuck in a cubicle, taking some rejected armour designs/shapes and "improving" them by slapping an MS paint-shopped picture of abs on them, and presenting it to the lead concept designer. Who thinks it's brilliant.

I think it may be more a matter of lack of bored designers (who probably at that point were either mostly let go or assigned to different projects) - the armor was likely designed on one, fixed model and the only thing a designer designated to the stressful job to try and roughly resize this model to dimensions of, say, an elf or a dwarf. It's very apparent in Qunari (hence the abs, since they're all ripped) as well as Calpernia's armor, especially the mostly bare arm - put it on guys and you can clearly see that this is a female model, squished or stretched in places to vaguely look like male body :P

Maybe some high and mighty executive at EA wanted the characters to be more scantily clad, so Bioware designed the ridiculous manly abs display armour just to tick him off.

I'm just going to say that no matter how wrong this is for the character and for actual protection, I can't say anything bad about the qunari armor on Cassandra.

It also looks so good on Sera (and even Vivienne).

At least it looks good on the women.

So maybe it was meant to be equal opportunity fanservice, but failed because whoever did the male armor used a bad reference?

Cass and Sera both look gorgeous in it, though I heartily prefer Cass in heavy plate armor.

I do too, and she's not my Divine but when I saw her in The Divine armor....well...

Minus the silly hat.

*now has goal for Cass to be Divine in at least one playthrough to have her in that gold armor....but not the one where I'm romancing her*

So, Solas Thread.  Around the end of year 2014, Patrick Weekes gave an interview that lead to more Solas fan tears.  He gave some insight into why Solas a late addition romance and gave some closure to those wondering if Solas really did love Lavellan.  Team Optimists vs Team Pessimists/Realists vs Team Moving On.  Not a lot of takers on the last one despite the heartbreak that Solas will definitely bring us.

I thought this was a nice new year's gift despite the fan tears.  haha.  PW just confirmed my opinion of Solas as a character.  And I do congratulate him and ever thankful for creating this complex character.  Solas will do things that he thinks is necessary for the greater good of The People.  Solas and I are on the same wavelength here when it comes to priorities.

Honestly, I always respect characters like Solas more when they make the hard decisions.  I hate that trope of choosing your one true love vs the many.  In this case, Solas is choosing magic and elves vs his one true love and the rest of the people in Thedas.  Extreme, I know.  I make exception because Thedas right now is a shithole.  I do not agree with maintaining the status quo.

That's the thing though. Even in the real world, some might express similar sentiments, think things were better before ________, but others, like Varric, talk about people building lives for themselves in an imperfect world. Varric himself has been spending time repairing the damage war did to Kirkwall. Varric has experienced some pretty terrible things. But he cares, he sees a world that others might call broken or not real, not worth anything, and see possibility.

It's in the banters between Varric and Solas about the man on the island. Solas' attitude is stubborn, 'all or nothing' and Varric's attitude is 'make do with what you have, build a life, even if it's meager'.

Most people would rather see the world improved than destroyed. Most people try to find what hope, joy, and opportunity they can in the world. And then there are those who'd toss it all out in drastic measures.

Honestly? I've been thinking about it and I'm not really sure this is really what's about it. In fact I'm still trying to make sense out of it. Mostly because Solas' perspective wasn't about "restoring what once was" or anything like it - he literally tells Varric that the guy on the island "could have struck out on his own to find a new land, new people."

... So Solas is not opposed to moving on, in fact he seems to be entirely about it. About being proactive - and probably mostly about sharing their life and experience with others, so all they were and knowledge they have wouldn't die forgotten. The issue wasn't that "it's all or nothing", it was that he viewed this guy's life choices as a defeat - and in a sense... wasn't it?

I suppose wasn't in a sense that Varric explained it - the guy still made a life; he didn't just lie on a ground and died. But it was still a life of a guy who accepted everything that came to him and didn't try to change much and went into a routiene he's comfortable with. I'm not sure I agree with that, nor with Varric's perspective. I also don't think that neither Solas, nor Inquisitor (nor Varric) would just accept that the world would come to an end (I mean, they don't - they go after Solas, don't they?). We do know that Thedas likely has to change to survive whatever is coming next.

This may be the silliest thing ever written, based on a joke I've made before, as well as inspired by recent fics and discussion about Solas' abs and more by many of you.

That was lovely Sable. It's easy to say 'and then she didn't see him for two years', without feeling the full impact of the 730 days that means. Lavellan is a trooper.

Just so we're clear, I do not approve of extremism in real life.  I know, no one is accusing me of that yet.  Just saying.

Now back to Thedas.  I want to see Thedas improved.  And Solas is not going to "destroy" Thedas IMO.  He will just bring it back to its natural state.  The natural state of Thedas is one that does not have the Veil.  Lots of people will die while people are trying to adjust to this.  But some would still survive to rebuild anew and hopefully on equal ground this time. The long-term effect would benefit not just elves.  I would be more conflicted about supporting Solas in tearing down the veil if we are 100% sure that the Forgotten Ones and Evanuris would be free to wreak havoc.

Varric and Solas has a different definition of what "fighting back" means.  For Varric, waking up everyday and living simply is fighting back.  I agree with this but not in all situations.  With Solas, he is always thinking about The People so "fighting back" for him is very different because the elves have been "fighting back" Varric's way for thousands of years now since Tevinter enslaved the elves.  That has not improved the lives of elves.  In fact, they are in decline and possibly soon to be extinct.

What I enjoy about Solas is he respects you even if you have very different opinions and he is open to new ideas.  He may or may not change is mind but he will definitely think about what you said.  Just like his banter with Varric.  This means that he does not make any decision lightly and fully aware of the consequences.  He does not rejoice in them so he is not mustache twirling bad.
