Solas Thread - NOW OFFICIALLY MOVED to Cyonan's BSN (link in OP)

There's a reason this thread changed its name to the Blanket Fort
*gives many hugs*
Yeah, I have to hand it to the theory-crafters on this thread - I was not really surprised at all by the revelations made in Trespasser, only really by the extremity of Solas' plans, and that's because of their well-thought out, well-reasoned arguments and theories.
Oh, I had no idea the mages were from Kirkwall! Do you have a source for that?
It's in the scene itself before you save/fight the demon. The one mage says he was the foremost expert in demons and that he came from the Kirkwall circle. The Bastard! I head cannon that the Herald knows what Cullen would do to the man and Solas is free to do as he pleases.

I don't know if you've played the game with a vashoth inquisitor yet, but if you manage to get to the balcony scene, he makes a remark where he's surprised - he calls qunari brutal and/or savage, I forget which, but he at least implies that's his opinion of the whole race - and says that you're not like the rest of them.
It's meant to be a comment of respect but it's really derogatory at the same time, implying your race is inherently inferior and congratulating you on being not like them? Like, what a back-handed, ignorant compliment. I know my vashoth rogue was just internally like 'ok... no', nodded politely, and just passive-aggressively avoided Solas for the rest of the game, and he is the calmest, most easy-going character I ever played. I'm afraid what'll happen when my vashoth mage gets to that stage, she values her friendship with Solas much more, I reckon if the option existed she'd kick him off the balcony at that point.
I think that's the only really racist thing Solas has said, and I'd almost be willing to argue that it's out of sync with some of his other views on the qun and the qunari, there was a discussion not that long ago about a banter where he argues, conversely, that the qunari are not inherently savage monsters, it's just the qun that teaches them to think of themselves that way. That's at odds with the dialogue on the balcony.
Yeah...that's the dialogue where my Vashoth mage was like, "Solas, we're bros but you suck at friendship. Lemme teach you how to friend." ![]()
That dialogue, plus a few comments from Bull and Kieran, really makes me wonder if there is something peculiar about the qunari beyond the Qun. If there is actually dragon blood in their genetics, and they are susceptible to a kind of blood rage, like the krogan.

Mini art break.
Artist's headcanon: No matter what happens, Solas & Lavellan will always find their way back to each other again.
And her interesting AU: What if - They had been born in a alternate reality, around the same time, but the ancient
elves still considered themselves above the dalish ones(forget logic for a moment). The dalish usually hunt & sell
food or crafted items.. but remain otherwise like gypsies, where as the pure blooded ones, remain in the cities and
spend their time focusing on studies / politics / ect Rarely do the two groups mingle, unless its business/trading.
Some Solas sketches.
Pencil sketch of Solas and the Dread Wolf.

Well, now that the new Deus Ex has been pushed back six months, some of you will just have to stick around in the Solavellan hellspiral a bit longer. ![]()

If that means more grad AU, i guess we'll take it. ![]()
But on the bright side, once that actually does come out and you finish and spiral there, then we will be that much closer to a new DA game. ![]()

Hello Solas thread! Been a long time!
I have just finished Trespasser last night. The ending was so great and bittersweet.
I can't imagine how Solas can still believe in his own plans, after all the backlash he got from all his previous attempts. Crazy elf. I love this character, but he'll really need my Lavellan to put some sense into him. Genocide is not a good idea.
My Dalish is quite torn apart right now...
Blanket fort, I'm in!

Further evidence for my theory: Thedas needs Krogan. The Qunari are stressing out about bringing order to natural chaos until Wrex and Grunt arrive on Thedas, and teach the Qunari that rage and chaos are not to be feared or reorganized, they are to be embraced! Alternatively, they arrive and just blow **** up and nobody learns anything except not to mess with Krogan.
DA4: Krogan Age. It comes, my children, mark my words.

Wrex hunting dragons with Iron bull. Head butting Florianne because that's his sort of dancing, assassin. Corypheus staring at him at Haven, and thinking 'I have no idea where to go with this.' Wrex punching things with Cassandra! They'd be such good mates!
The Nightmare trying to taunt him about the Reapers or the Genophage and Wrex just smiles and reloads his shogun...
I'll be back with some nonsense textbarfing.

Wrex and Bull dragon hunting together would be literally my favourite thing. Almost as good as Wrex and Bull trying to take down a Thresher Maw together.

Yeah... every time he gets all pompous and says, "I was the foremost expert on demons in the Kirkwall Circle," I wanted to say, "Yeah, and Kirkwall is notorious for having gotten overrun by rogue demons and abominations, which started this whole Mage/Templar War. Clearly you guys don't know what you're doing."
I headcanon that while they were taken back to Skyhold, now everyone knows of their incompetence, and they are not allowed to live it down. All the sensible rebel mages and Cullen have them under constant scrutiny, they're not allowed to so much as look at a magic book without supervision, and everyone constantly throws their idiot mistakes back in their faces.

I headcanon that I got to put them on trial. The Inquisition is for all after all. I didn't say 'the Inquisition is for everyone that meets the Chantry's approved level of existence.'
