I agree. My Mass Effect hellspiral lasted 3 months. My Solas and Solavellan hellspiral lasted a full year and is still going on strong. (It'll probably last until the release of DA4 maybe?)

Yes, this is definitely going to be one for the books. I've been fannish about a lot of things, but DA:I has completely blown the rest of them out of the water.

I wanted to put in a thought about why Solas disapproves of the modest "I'm normal" answer on the balcony: it's false humility. You are obviously special, and not just because of the mark on your hand. You quickly build up possibly the most powerful force in Thedas, people follow your lead and others consider you personally to be a threat, you have great success at pretty much everything you touch and while at the beginning you can claim that you don't know what's going on and all this stuff is happening to you by pure chance, by the time you get to the balcony scene you are irrevocably The Leader. Regardless of how you obtained your position, you become different by taking on that mantle, and it diminishes your respect for your own institution and your role in it to modestly shrug and claim that anyone could do it. Anyone can't do it, because you became something more by accepting the title of Inquisitor; I think some might think taking ownership of your power is arrogant, but it's really not, you have a responsibility to your people, you are a leader for them, not for yourself, recognizing that you are powerful and different from other people by virtue of who you become is not arrogance, it's simple truth. And we know Solas loves blunt honesty and detached rationale.

 

Plus, after Trespasser I'm pretty sure that the darling Dread Wolf has juuuuuust a touch of hubris himself - his stance, his voice, everything radiates the self-confidence of an ancient, powerful rebel leader that's almost a little too absolute (*drool*) - so I think that he respects a Lavellan who he not only can see as an equal, but who sees herself as an equal to him (granted, without knowing the extent of his power at the time), who - as I said - takes ownership of her power rather than expressing discomfort with it. Ostensibly this is because when he stops hiding and publicly takes ownership of his identity as Fen'Harel, he wants to know that you will be on as equal a footing as you can be with freaking Fen'Harel of all people. I think this is equated with self-respect in his eyes, because if you are just a toady or "just anyone" then you can never be his equal and he can never see you as one. (Plus... I think a little bit of that hubris plays a part: after all, you are his lover, you can't be just a simple girl, you have to live up to and earn your status as someone he chose.)

 

At least, this morning that's what I thought while I was reading today's posts.

Thanks!  I even changed my profile pic because at some point around the same period Lord Woolsley became a topic for discussion and someone found and posted that pic.  It's one of my favorite side quests in DAI.  Lord Woolsley.  I accidentally killed him the first time because I didn't know he was part of a side quest.  He was not harming anyone so I made sure to bring him back to his owner the next time.

Does anyone know why every time I download a complexion, it never works with the BE? As in, I can't enter the BE at all, it just freezes.
Happened in the past with Yennefer's complexion so had to discard it. Now I found a complexion that looks nice and the face is totally clean (no moles, no scars, no freckles etc) which I would like to use, but alas that one breaks the BE as well...

How am I supposed to try these on if I can never reach the mirror? :s

Am I missing something, or.. does anyone know of a complexion that works with the BE?

Mods don't work in BE, you have to use them in your original CC, or load them up blind and hope they look alright. I know you can change hair and outfits and that doesn't make BE crash(though they won't show up there), but like some of the eyelash or eyebrow mods definitely do.

@Renmiri will probably be better at answering that, but this is pretty much the case with all complexion mods. Most mod designers are good at mentioning that, on their nexus site, tumblr, or in simple text instructions included in the download. The best way to handle this is to use the emporium first, for whatever you are wanting to alter, then apply the mod. If you need to go back and redo, uncheck the mod in the manager, and reapply after BE use. I would also suggest taking a look at the DAI tools forum:

Almost all the complextion mods replaces the third complextion (the rest of the complextions are used by NPCs but that one is just used by the Inquisitor and the elf who wakes you up in Haven).  So you should just be able to remerge your patch and it'll already be on your character.  If not the only way to do it is make a blank patch (untick all mods and merge), go into the BE, change to the complextion it replaces, leave and then replace your blank patch with your proper patch.

Awesome.  What mod did you pick? (I'm using a version of Calpernia's skin and it looks lovely, although the freckles are a bit hard to see with her dark skin.)
