Though it could just be remains from a massive structure.
Stone abilities make sense for Solas because his will is unyielding like stone.
....Not sure if it's really that unyielding if he declares to befriended Inquisitor that he'll treasure a chance to be wrong again or can't help himself to seek out his lover in the Fade only to assault her with the saddest of puppy eyes from the distance
In any case, it makes no sense to make it such a relatively crude metaphor - besides, HE'd have to be like a stone and not turn people to stone for it to work.

Trying to explain the allure of solas to someone who has never played dragon age like ok so he's bald, and welsh, and an elf....
Never mind people who never played the game. I was talking to my cousin today.
Me: Did you play DAI?

When my husband FINALLY started playing DAI, I tried to prod and poke him to find out his impressions about Solas (by being very vague and asking after all the characters and saying that I recommend taking Solas with him on quests), his reaction: "You mean that bald guy? Yeah... he's kind of weird. Interesting, but weird." and proceeded to tell me that he can't take Solas because that would mean two mages are in the party.
...Sigh.
Cullenmancing elf mage. It seems so wrong to me.
My husband definitely warmed to Solas halfway though, to the point where he was practically always taking control of Solas. Can't say I understand that, I always play my own character...
I hope they won't ruin Solas once he officially takes his place as main antagonist in DA4.

Far be it from me to jump the gun, but Weekes' tweet seems pretty encouraging in that regard, that maybe we might have options to steer him in different directions.
What I want to know is will they break the tradition of having a new hero each game or pull a Hawke (just so I can get a happy ending)?
My husband definitely warmed to Solas halfway though, to the point where he was practically always taking control of Solas. Can't say I understand that, I always play my own character...
I wonder how I would react to that. I'd expect it would be kind of like two distinct worlds crashing together... My husband is uncomfortably perceptive about these things as it is, he spent weeks being really jealous of Yaevinn when I was playing The Witcher. I didn't even blush or anything, he just played it and got jealous out of the blue. Maybe because at the time they kind of looked alike, I dunno. He tends to dislike my virtual love interests without even consciously realizing it, and since I really, really want him to like Solas I'm being extra vigilant in acting disinterestedly. (I think I blew it months ago.)

Yeah, I guess we can rest assured as long as Weekes keeps a tight grip on this.
That said, my fear isn't that Solas would act like Corypheus, but that they would turn him into, (gasp) Anders!
My greatest fear is lack of choice. But as I said... I am somewhat reassured by that tweet. I wouldn't mind even an Anders approach as long as I had actual power to influence him, change his path, or even join him.
We could watch the world burn together... #.#

It is a little weird, and I don't get too emotional over it in front of him, primarily for tact reasons. Of course, Solas is a fictional character, so I don't feel too bad about it.

I do like it that he likes Solas though, it's nice to see non-Solasmancers who appreciate him.
My current dagger rogue. A remake of Mia Trevelyan for my Cullenmance play through. I already wish she was an elf and could flirt with Solas! Then again I can't have two characters jealous in the story, one is enough right now.
I'm stuck at the Mages in the Witchwood. The cave where they are all hiding. It's on hard and damn there are too many of them! It took me five tries to kill them with two mages, Varric and Cassandra. It's no going nearly as well with two melee fighters instead of just one.

It's even weirder when my husband casually asks who I like and we talk about romance options. When it's just a general discussion then it's alright, but when it becomes about my fangirl preferences I always look at him sideways and wonder what he is. I don't feel bad about it either, but sometimes I feel as though I should, so I react accordingly. This is why I love poetry! I can express everything and then be able to act completely normally around him.

I spent 15 minutes just sitting and not playing to wait for everyone to go to bed so I could agonize without being interrupted, and then he interrupted anyway - I can't readily tell him to go away now because I'm having an "experience" and he's drawing my attention away, so I threw all my manipulation talents in to put him off. I feel like such a terrible person sometimes.

I got sidetracked by the shiny again. She is very pretty I like her features, and her eyes are very pretty. Maybe the chin is a bit narrow, but it doesn't look bad. I have some tragic looking characters, my first Mia I could never get right, not even after dozens of trips to the BE! So I've scrapped her for the new one.
Hmmmm, I think I'm rather happy I don't have to worry about making someone jealous of my pixel obsession.
Well I'm unfortunately the type who needs both. I mean, an IRL relationship and pixel relationships. The IRL ones just have to take me as I am, with all my insanity. That doesn't make me particularly comfortable with this arrangement myself, however.

But if he has a full group then at least 2 of the people will have the same class cause there's only 3 different classes so why would it matter if there were 2 mages as opposed to 2 rogues or 2 warriors. =p

Hah, it seems we had pretty much the same idea for our Trevelyans' eyes Mine is a mage KE from done playthrough, though I do plan to replay larger portion of it to change some choices someday.
But if he has a full group then at least 2 of the people will have the same class cause there's only 3 different classes so why would it matter if there were 2 mages as opposed to 2 rogues or 2 warriors. =p
You see why I palmfaced. I don't get it either. I told him that he should just ignore that and do it anyway because it's totally worth it. I hope I didn't let too much on. Bad enough that my BFF was spoiled before he even started playing DAI, I was so looking forward to his reaction... 
I just don't get people and spoilers, I loathe spoilers.
