Which particular parallels stick out to you the most? I wonder if it's just an archetype/tropey thing, because droso was comparing Solas' arc to Lelouch's from Code Geass, and the marked similarities she saw.

 

Definitely the "betrayal" or 'returning to original course' at the end of season 2 - Zuko has already made quite a journey in season 2 and most (of the audience at least) thought that he's already crossed the side, towards the protagonists' camp. Well, it turned out that the state was very tentative and after a push from his sister, he was back on his original route again (though changed enough to realize eventually that it wasn't the way to go).

 

Of course, we don't really know if and how much Solas either gave up on his plans to destroy the world for a time being or at least tried to find a new solution, but as much as he was on 'our side' both the loss of the orb and visit to Temple Of Mythal prior to that seems to have shaken any belief that anything other than his original solution would work. So we're back to square one - only with some serious character growth done, which may yet sway him back on our side again.

Well the S2 version of "pulling a Zuko" is end if DAI/Trespasser for me We'll see how much of S3 arc similarities is there in DA4...

 

As for Solas sending an assasin that will later try to kill him and us.... well, who knows? I have to admit, as hilarious or endearing or fairy-tale'ish those scenarios in post-Trespasser fanfictions and predictions are, with Fen'Harel's agents trying NOT to kill Inquisition's agents and him saving Lavellan/Inky or her saving him on occasion and so on, playing more of a charade than trying to realize/disrupt the plan to destroy the world... I don't really think Solas would pull that many punches.

 

Like, he may actively try and avoid killing Inky & friends, or perhaps - in his own way - he may throw some hints or clues (I'm pretty convinced that him allowing IQ to explore as much of areas locked behind eluvians, many of which are intimately tied to him, was as much to stop the Qunari as it was to throw some light on his story - after all, he may have as well just activated eluvians that led to Daarvarad and deal with the lyrium mining or Vir Dirthara/Sanctuary invasion himself) , but otherwise I bet he may be pretty cold and tactical, ruthless even, especially if we make all the wrong decisions.

(I'm not up for different poses yet. Probably just portraits.) I'm doing a secret santa this month so I want to concentrate on that for now, but you can PM me if you want me to do a sketch or something..

Well, turns out I was so nervous and upset while talking to Solas I managed to skip half of his dialogue somehow. So I went back, replayed the scene properly ouch my heart, and while I did, I caught something. Namely, Maker! The iamb is strong with this one! Have you noticed how Solas practically breaks into verse a few times? Like, here

I broke the chains of all who wished to join me.
The false gods called me Fen'Harel,
and when they finally went too far,
I formed the Veil and banished them forever.

I woke still weak a year before I joined you.
My people fell for what I did
to strike the Evanuris down,
but still some hope remains for restoration.

Even his epilogue sliders are affected!

I've expressed my grumbles over how they fail to use brown eyes and when they have them, it's not really very well done. Grumble.
