Ignore me if this has already been mentioned but: Solas thresd Secret santa anyone?
Don't believe I've heard that being mentioned. Sounds like a neat idea though ![]()

I saw people doing this for a few years now on other webpages or communities... but what exactly IS Secret Santa?
Secret Santa is when a group of people get gifts for each other. Each person is assigned another person to get a gift for, and each person getting a gift doesn't know who got it for them.
If there is a DAI Secret Santa going on, I'd be happy to join in. Most I can do is draw something.

EDIT: Also, regarding the Solas Thread Secret Santa, I already signed up for 2 other Secret Santas on Tumblr but I guess I'd be up for this one as well. xD
Hmm... interesting - I've decided to go through some Trespasser sections with different companions just to check all the comments they make - and in the Deep Roads, near the lyrium well, Vivienne is asking Inquisitor about the problems with the Anchor. The Inquisitor can admit that when it flares she/he feels the pain from the arm to the jawbone.
Now, I know that having a mysterious, magical artifact lodged in one's hand is not exactly a common condition, be it IRL or in Thedas
... but isn't pain radiating from hand to jaw a relatively common symptom of a heart attack? Cole even makes an observation at one point that mentions a heartbeat ("Your hand hurts. A heartbeat. Not yours. Hammering the beat of a song in its final verse. I'm sorry."), but I thought it was a typical Cole'ish metaphor, but perhaps there's more to it?
I mean, I suppose in the end it doesn't really make a difference whether Inquisitor would die from exploding hand or a heart attack, but it's an interesting tidbit - like, it kinda makes me wonder why they were so specific about discomfort it causes to Inquisitor. Makes me wonder if there's indeed at least some residual magic lodged in Inky's body and maybe this is why Solas said that "the Mark will eventually kill you".
Oh Interesting! What part of history, or where?
Oh, I've dabbled a bit in many different periods. I've always had a great thirst for knowing stuff, so beside my master I have minor degrees in a couple of other subjects. I'm hoping to have my bachelor degree in psychology finished by next fall. ![]()
Actually, now that I think about it, I can't so much point to a specific time in history so much as a specific perspective - all my essays have been written within the field of gender history. So I've studied everything from the French Revolution to historical costume dramas within that field. My personal interest is much wider, so I also know a lot about English and Scandinavian history, and if you like history trivia I'm your Bunny!
For example: In most countries those executed for witchcraft were usually women, except in Finland where the majority was male. Also, the Catholic church did not support the hunt for witches as that was considered a superstition (most killing of witches took place in protestant countries). Blasphemy and heresy, however, was a different matter...

I know Solas says that the Anchor is killing the Inquisitor before he takes it off. And he says that ultimately none but he could have survived having it. And he says that he's saving you for now after he removes the Anchor. But I think once the Anchor is gone it poses no more threat to the Inquisitor regardless of whether or not there's still residual magic remaining. Solas saves you "for now" ... until he does whatever it is he's planning and you die in that. At least that's how I read it.
Just gonna leave these here.

From the trailer "the fires above" (veil?):
At the end Morrigan says, "Will you stand against it, or lead this world to its bitter end?" Either that was a lie for hype, or it's foreshadowing whether we decide to side with Solas or not.
Also reminds me of Leliana's vision, and the sun at the end I am suspicious of.
I know I shouldn't put my faith in an old trailer but seriously, this trailer doesn't feel like it's talking about DAI.
Again I am reminded of how David Gaider pretty much said DAI covered half of the the original story and I want to believe DA4 will be the second half.
This trailer gave me chills, so epic, very wow.
Yes, the iamb made it that much more chilling for me. I love hearing Solas speak in rhythm
Exactly!
Incidentally, I googled a little and discovered that this verse I've posted has the same rhythm and cadence as Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"... Now I can't stop humming Solas' lines to it, and my family thinks I'm crazy.
I read that as "the lamb is strong with this one!" and was very confused for a moment.
Haha, thank you, I needed a laugh! Anyone willing to doodle confused Solas followed by herds of sheep everywhere? ![]()
I'd be up for a secret santa. I can't draw, but I'm happy to write something (I don't write smut, though.)
About Solas and the veil: I was thinking about the Arcane Warrior you meet in Nature of the Beast and was wondering if the battle she fought in was Solas' rebellion, and the reason why she was trapped is because of the creation of the veil which prevent her from being spirit-y enough to leave the phylactery?
Shari'El: I had also thought that the "Fires Above" trailer seemed more appropriate to what Solas plans than what Corypheus did. Unfortunately, it may just be that it showed the game that never quite happened. The bit with Varric was meant to be Crestwood if you decided not to save it. That was originally a real choice in the game and in the half hour game play video that was showcased not long after this video. Then there was the other trailer when Varric makes a crack about it "raining demons out there". We never heard that in game either. This clip hinted at something a lot darker than we finally got. There was certainly no sense of being able to lead the world to its bitter end. Of course it could still happen and the Fires Above does seem to tie in with Solas saying about the world burning in the fires of chaos. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

Morrigan's voice is amazing. Those inflections, wow...
I don't know if this has been posted here before, but I really like this picture.
The style is breathtaking and the dominance Solas is showing while the shadowy shape of the wolf is surrounding him.. nicely done.
I know it sounds bad but as a player I really want to see the veil coming down. Maybe in DA4 we can get to see some of the remaining places we haven't seen yet like Antiva, Nevarra, Tevinter and Anderfels and if the veil comes down at the end of the game we could have a complete new world in DA5 to begin with.
The only thing I wish for DA4 (I think they said they are going to resolve Solas story there?) is that there is not a Solas = ultimate evil plot and the only solution is to kill or trap him for eternity. I don't know I feel so sad about him I really wish there would be some happiness for him, but I fear that is unlikely. Or if he has to be trapped, give the option to send lavellan with him so he isn't alone.
I am wondering about the new protagonist however. They have one in every game, I doubt we will get to play the inquisitor again. This time it would really make sense due to the connection with Solas. But there are always new gamers who have not played previous games before and will lack this connection to Solas.
And honestly, I doubt the Trespasser choice redemption or stopping by killing will make a difference in DA4. Maybe a dialog line. Mage/Templar choice in DA2 wasn't really different in DAI, at least for black ritual yes/no there were some greater differences but nothing major (yet). What is happening with Solas will depend on DA4 choices. I doubt previous DAO - DAI choices will really have an impact.

That's how I feel too. Like, I can't even be angry with him, let alone consider him an enemy. I feel so sorry for him. And I just want to help him ![]()

Oh, I don't know - Cassandra says that the Mark is killing Inky just at the beginning of the main game - and the initial closing of the Breach and whatever Solas has done to it then merely postponed the inevitable; for some reason I have a feeling that he's done the same thing now. I mean, yes, he removed the Anchor, but eventually the long-term exposure to its magic may yet claim Inquisitor's life.
I saw this on pinterest and I thought of Solas.
