He's the Creative Director for Dragon Age, and if I remember correctly from some of his tweets in which he explained his role, that basically permanently ties him to the franchise - though I'd have to dig for that to actually confirm it, which may take some time.

I've been 29 for years. Been celebrating the anniversary of my 29th year for 13 years now. 
So it occurs to me that redeeming Solas might have him seeing the error of his ways and voluntarily heading off into the depths of the Fade, with his lady love being given the option of following him.
My Lavellan would take that option in a heartbeat.

My thread catch up update:
I gotta say, I am happy I started playing DAI the month that Trespasser came out. I scrolled through pages of DLC speculations. I feel for those who had to wait so long to get the DLC, especially Trespasser. I am now in August, post JoH DLC, very close to Descent release. I can understand the frustrations of those waiting. Some people got bored and left but new people replaced them so even thought the thread was not as active anymore, there were still lots of amazing discussions. And art. And screengrabs. Shout out to captaincaranis (sp?). Too bad the tumblr's gone.
I am bracing myself for the discussions and drama caused by Trespasser.
