I feel like this would be some diluted shem version of the story, borrowed from the elves and turned into the whole snake story. Or it would turn into someone's Smut Saturday drabble.
Both true.
But imagine how it would sound!
"The Dalish have strange customs, children, mark my words! They eat leaves and talk to boulders, but among the strangest of their customs is worshipping the deity known as the Dread Snake. It came to snatch away their young, it slew their strongest men and seduced their women... but the statues honoring the Dread Snake still stand wherever they go. Sometimes you cannot find it, if you are - like I was - an outsider. I looked top to bottom in their aravels and around their camp - these were in days when 'shems' as they call us were, if not welcome, at least tolerated - but try as I would, I could not find the Dread Snake, because he only reveals himself to the People. But you can be sure he was there! They really like snakes, I understand. That is why they narrow their eyes when they talk to us - in their language, it is a sign of respect! Just as a snake has slitted eyes, so they adopt that look when they greet us. So fear not our Dalish friends when they look at you thus, just bid them greeting as I have: 'I give greeting in the name of your Dread Snake!' and make sure to keep a watch out for the ceremonial arrows they fire. Don't worry, they don't really aim for you, it's all part of their strange customs."
This will keep me preoccupied for a time yet. *Master Wade voice* Just think of the possibilities...!
