... Incidentally I think this is what I think some people might think this thread looks like, when a random Solasmancer has "a moment of clarity" and briefly sees that the character they fawn over obsessively is in fact a moustache twirling cartoon villain - so the rest re-educates her

So... they submit to the re-educators?

Solas greatly approves.

Why of course, we're like a Qunari horde here after all - we discipline ourselves and strengthen our faith in One And True Way, stripping ourselves from individuality in the result, and wait for our moment to invade entire BSN and re-educate the rest as well!

He specifically has a spell to rise Inky from the ground with full health bar, so I'm not sure what he's complaining about xD Plus, he really seemed to use this almost exclusively, even though in my last PT I didn't even die that much xD

"Oh, not this again... crap, I do look ridiculous with those tiny wings on my back from firing revive spell nearby. Very funny, spirits.  <_<  "

Also, I think I know how Solas would look like if he reincarnated as a human (minus the chin)

Spoiler

That... is not that far away.

edit: why there isn't an AU of Solas working as a cotoure model? :D Considering that the high-end fashion designers and magazines usually prefer good-looking, but usually distinct or unique faces or beauty types I can totally see him on a cover of Vogue, muahaha ;)

LMAO! You got me imagining current Solas striking that pose. No! Just...no. I can't...!

Well, it could always be worse!

Spoiler

Also, I think I've found a couture piece that has inspired the Winter Palace face shrapnel.

I was looking at couture men to find my own Solas, but all I could find is this hobo-apostate chic look. (Maybe NSFW-ish?)

Which made me think of LSP wearing garbage.

Face shrapnel---Lol! That explains everything.

And yes, I can see that it could be much worse. Solas during his wilder days, though... thousands of years is a long time to live and not experiment with a bunch of weird sh*t. Drunken, nudist, cocktail party with a bunch of desire demons doesn't sound completely out of the realm of possibility.

I thought of that too. I had to look up "Hobo Solas" to make sure that wasn't what he was actually wearing. :P  It's close enough!

Hi Solas thread. I pop in from time to time with some Solas questions, and here I am again.

I would like to know more about his ability to manipulate dreams. I know (some of) the romance take place in dreams or the Fade, but is he controlling all of that? Does he talk about it in any specific way? If so, is it referenced in a different way with a mage vs non-mage Inquisitor?

The only thing I have to go on from the game are his remarks during that one dream sequence after you arrive at Skyhold, and also his later surprise that the Anchor has allowed the Inquisitor to dream with extreme focus. Of course, if the whole thing is too ambiguous, I would be happy to know that as well.

Thanks in advance. <3

Solas doesn't talk much about manipulating other people's dreams.  Mostly, he discusses using the Fade to discover old memories and hidden wisdom.  I would assume that Solas's mastery over the Fade is at least on par with a dreamer like Feynriel, who can manipulate dreams all the way from Tevinter and force a bunch of bandits to kill one another  Solas did, at the very least, kill Felassan in the Fade.

My guess is that he's controlling the Haven dream to look like Haven.  And if he wanted to, he has the capability to do much, much scarier things in dreams.

Hah I was actually coming back in here to ask about this. Is this just an educated guess on the part of many players? I did read TME when it was released, but not since then. Are there clues that strongly suggest it was Solas, or did Patrick Weekes come out and say so?

Cole says this in Trespasser: "His friend had to die. Because he thought they were people. A slow arrow breaks in the sad wolf's jaws." Felassan, of course, means slow arrow. Seems pretty final to me.

Someone asked him on Twitter, and he replied with "SPOILERS" :P

IMO it's pretty obvious where the clues point, though.  We don't need Word of God to confirm everything for us

To be honest, the internet has made me wary of assumption. Too often people take one line, or remark, and twist it to suit their purpose and use it as a bludgeon for whatever argument they're trying to make. I very rarely ever say that "a dev" said something without offering an actual linked quote to support it. Most of the time, nobody even bothers, and then misinformation spreads.

But lynroy's response was enough for me. I just wanted it spelled out somewhere, because all I ever saw was fans claiming it. I've only played through Trespasser once and there was a lot going on. It will be a while before I play through it again.

It's odd to me that the Inquisitor has never sat Cole down and grill him about what he knows. He's known who Solas was all along. And knows lot of little bits and pieces about his past.

Maybe he would have disappeared.

Why did one of the writers say 'spoilers' about Felassan's vallaslin. I mean what.

Why did he kill this Felassan?

Felassan was a "Dalish" elf that befriended and mentored Briala during the Orlesian Civil War. I say "Dalish" because it's all but confirmed that he was an ancient elf working for Solas (He had vague origins, knowledge about elfy stuff, made a lot of comments about Elvhenan, had a lot of stories about Fen'Harel, worked for a mysterious entity that he met with while dreaming in the Fade.) His leader had sent him to get the eluvian password from Briala so that his agents could use the Crossroads, but after getting close to Briala, Felassan changed his mind about getting her password and knowingly turned it down before she could give it to him. So he meets with his unnamed leader in a dream, confesses to his failure, and is promptly killed by the leader.

Speculation varies on Solas' exact motivations. You'll hear everything from "He didn't want to kill Felassan but he had to because Felassan had willing betrayed Solas and could compromise the entire plan" to "Solas is a dictatorial maniac who'll straight up murder you for simply disagreeing with him."

Opinions really run the whole gamut on this guy.

Don't see Solas as a cold-blooded murderer... but then my baby is trying to destroy the world with me and everyone I love still in it, sooo... maybe? Lol.

What was it he said to us in trespasser... for a time Briala controlled a section of the eluvians... but something something... and then he had to override the magic personally. Now he controls all of it. Could be be referring to that whole business with Felassan?
