Another Kanye the Wyvern by vyndines

It's not those ones! All I remember is I saw it on tumblr before Trespasser. I think it had the 'I suppose you have questions' picture, then a picture of Kanye the wyvern yelling 'hai Solas!'.

Aww, Nipuni. I love her art.

Anyway, butt in. Chapter 14 of The Bookkeeper is up.

--

Drawing tablet like Wacom Intuos versus drawing screen like Cintiq or Yiynova question. I draw on a mobile atm. I can't really imagine the disconnect between my hand on a tablet and a PC screen. Is it as weird as it sounds, or do you get into it pretty fast? But I am pondering a purchase of some of the small ones to try it out.

Re: tablets, I draw using a Bamboo pen & touch and yes, the disconnect between having your hand on a tablet and looking at a PC screen may seem weird at first, but like a lot of things, it takes practice and eventually drawing using a tablet becomes natural. :)

I would love to own a drawing screen like Cintiq but that's waaay too expensive for me. :P

(I hope I'm understanding you correctly, btw. If I'm not, I apologize. ^__^; )

It's not as bad as you might think, since that's basically what you do with a mouse. There's about a centimeter between the tablet and pen when it recognizes the touch and puts a cursor down, so you're not just hoping to aim in the general area. The barrier for me was the program: figuring out layers and brushes, which ones I liked and how they worked.

I don't think I would like my hand to be on a screened tablet, I'd feel like I couldn't see what I was doing or there would be some sort of lag.

Also I recommend rebinding tablet and pen buttons to undo/redo, zoom in/out, and right click. That way you don't have to touch your keyboard or mouse.

Yeah you do understand it correctly :)

I draw on a phone which is like a very miniature Cintiq, so there's no disconnect for me. I've tried to draw by mouse but that idea was tossed out of the virtual window pretty soon. I could afford Yiynova after about half a year of sparing money and not spending it on yarn, but I'd like to hear opinions if it's just an overshoot. I think so, since I don't make a living like that at all. I was eyeing the Intuos Art or Pro. Mmm. Ponder.

Thanks :)

Whenever I read "Nehn" nowadays, I just think of the adorable Dalish girl from Cee's fanfiction  ^_^

Oh someone wrote a fanfiction with a character named Nehn? I feel I ought to read it!

That would be me. My Lavellan, Nirwen, well Nehn is her first love and as adults, close friend. I wrote a one-off thing with them inside a Solavellan story and then became interested in writing about them more.  But back to your name question, nouns are known to be names. Solas, Abelas, and yes, Nehn. So, it's a good name choice. I may be biased. ;)

Someone else around here, I think Moirin, has a Solavellan parents headcanon with a son named Nehn too.

Mini art break.

“Oriana… Her name would have been Oriana.” - What happiness is like for Lavellan and Solas, in a world where they're not burdened by the weight of both worlds. :crying:

(Artist's answer also under the tag... I want that for my Lavellan too tbh...)

Spoiler

Solas and Lavellan cuddling in bed. <3 (NSFW-ish for a bit of nudity.)

WIP artwork of Solas and Emma from Keeping Secrets. (Wow! Look at the design of his underclothing!)

Sorry for the double post!

My 5 cents: (although I draw rarely and it takes me quite long).
I always used to draw and color on paper since I was in school.

Many years ago - and I mean many! - I bought a Wacom Bamboo tablet. So I would draw with pencil on a paper, ink, scan and color with Photoshop.
I know a lot of artists get used to this - and it's not like I couldn't.. but to me it takes the fun away. I love looking at what and where I am drawing, having a full sensation of my finger and looking down at my art.. So the "disconnection" between hand and eyes always annoyed me. Most of the times, once I was finished drawing, I became annoyed at coloring shortly, and it's not cause I don't like coloring.. It would take me forever to finish something cause I would do it for 30 min/ 1 hour and get tired or bored, like I'm chained to the desk.. I thought I was just lazy but thinking about it I always liked spending hours and hours coloring when I was 18-22 so it can't have been that. I realized that it's just coloring looking up while the hand is somewhere else that doesn't cut it for me.. It feels like work and not pleasure - plus it strains my neck! The thrill and joy of coloring for me is lost. So I need something to draw on screen..

Of course Cintiqs are too expensive. I pondered for a while about a Microsoft Surface Pro - but still I don't have a job at the moment so can't afford it..
So after a lot of research I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition - it comes with a stylus which apparently has Wacom digitizers but if you want you can replace it with a Wacom pen anyway if it's too thin.

I wondered whether it was any good and the video who made me decide for it was this:
If it's possible to do art like this, for me it's good enough as I only do it for hobby.

I haven't tried yet - (blame my new Lavellan PT which is taking all my time   ) But I'm going to London for 14 days for Xmas and I won't have my pc to play.. so I'll spend most of the time there bringing to life some drawings I have in mind.

We shall see what comes out :P

Hey, did anyone else see these tweets by Patrick Weekes and David Gaider:

Okay, Patrick, an important step in getting the idea approves is actually having the nerve to write it down and say you want to do it.

@PatrickWeekes The alternative is to sneak it in, and let your boss's boss like it enough that it doesn't end up getting cut. #pointedstare

Patrick Weekes ‏@PatrickWeekes

@davidgaider I don't see anyone ever doing that. #innocentlook

@PatrickWeekes On this topic, I will take the smug grandparent's view of "wait until YOUR kids do it to YOU."

@davidgaider You know, I RECALL running it by you.

@PatrickWeekes You ran *something* by me, that's true. :P

The question is; what did Patrick do, and was it related to Solas? Inquiring minds want to know!

Another mini art break.

Someone requested theresa-draws for a doodle of Solas with his new lizard friend.

But theresa misread "lizard" as "wizard" and here's the result.

The Magic Flute. (Solavellan) <3 Apparently it's still unfinished.
