Makes sense, though.  Conscription destroyed their hierarchy and replaced it with the Inquisition's.  You could promote Barris within the Inquisition, but IMO Cullen already fills that role.

Oh, of course it makes perfect sense. I just like Barris. :P

And at complete random during my trek through tumblrspace, I find this, which... kind of sums up a lot about this whole Solas end of the world thing and how understanding why Solas feels as he does isn't wholesale approval of what he plans to do. It's amazing how many people seem unable to grasp that separation.

Same could be said for the rebel mages, or the templars, or the Grey Wardens.  Really, any faction in DA.

Better than Blackwall/Josie. I just...can't quite....with that one.

Though Trespasser Thom is better.

Neither can I.  Maybe it's because Josie acts relatively young out of the Inquisition cast, but it always gives me a weird vibe.

As a person who has lost count how many tea varieties she has....this. There's something out there to like, you dork. :P

Milk and sugar did it for me, I was 7 or 8 and took it with milk and a very generous helping of sugar, and I've loved tea since then. Some types of fruity teas are also very fragrant.

Quite true. Which makes me wonder about those who just distill it all down to things like "templars are evil" or "you just love your church bomber." Everyone grows up on the knight saves the princess hero tales, but at some point you kind of just age into the ability to understand more complex archetypes and plots. It feels like such a disservice to keep cramming it back into black-and-white good vs. evil stories. Probably leaves people disappointed too, and with no fault to the actual story.

I assume that she's pretty worldly since she's been playing the Game practically all her life... yet she does seem so innocent and idealistic at the same time.

Well, I do love Anders.  I also hate him.  it's very complicated on Facebook :P

That said, I understand why the knee-jerk good vs. evil reaction exists.  Some people are very passionate about certain values.  And as one example, the mage/templar conflict does play strongly into Western ideals about freedom and individual choice.  If you only look at it through that lens, of course you'll see the templars as evil.  Same with the Qun.  The perspective through which you view a faction might blind you from being able to understand them at all.

And while more complex archetypes and plots are more interesting, the good vs. evil stories endure across cultures and history.  Their emotional appeal is certainly undeniable, even if they can be simplistic.

Yeah, it's weird.  She has moments of real ruthlessness in the war table missions; she advocates blackmailing House Amladaris over their connection to Corypheus, since it's what the Tevinters would do if the tables were turned.  And she and Leliana are the best advisors for the missions that are about the Game.  But in all of her dialogue and interactions with the rest of the Inner Circle, she's disarmingly sweet and idealistic.

Definitely skip season 4. I've only gotten through half of that travesty. It's missing everything that made Torchwood awesome. However, I don't see what's wrong with season 3. The production values are much better than the prior 2 seasons, and Ianto gets a lot more screen time. To each his or her own...

I've ranted about Torchwood in this thread in the past so I'll just do a summery of what I hate rather than the full rant:

Okay, last batch of art before I go to bed. :P

Evanuris by nipuni. A gorgeous artwork of young Solas.   Apparently part of a bigger picture.

The Unending Wake, Part 43. (A light, fluff chapter suprisingly <3)

paranoidfactors drew a surprise artwork of Tala and Solas for me! Both wrapped under a quilt!

Lavellan is not the romantic type. Solas Slightly Disapproves. :P

It's almost as though she separates her own reality from the politics she plays, or perhaps she still is fairly innocent, and everything is still done by the book for her, for example, her reaction at the Haven attack where she's nonplussed at the lack of banner. I always smile at that reaction, it's so Josephine.

I'm really glad DA:I had the extra year of development time.  But if it hadn't, I would have a human Inquisitor with Disney princess wife.

She still plays the Game and knows it well, but she doesn't seem to immerse herself in it the way Leliana does.  So yes, she seems comparatively innocent, especially next to Cullen and Leliana.

I think she's just smart enough to know that politics is no place for much naivete... still, she doesn't let go of her idealistic self, and I think we have Leliana to thank a lot for it. Aside from supportive Inquisitor, Josephine seems to be Leliana's unofficial 'moral center' through most of the game, especially after she began drifting towards her ruthless side. So Josie is someone sweet and innocent, to be coddled and protected a little from the cruel world that managed to taint Leliana - unlike Leli, Josephine is still "pure" enough. It's a relationship similar to Iron Bull and Krem I think, and in some respects, Solas and Lavellan.

While I love most of the companions, I'm not sure what would've happened. I chose to play an elf since I was tired of noble humans/humans with noble connections. So it may have been Sera or Cullen since Cass is still straight and Josie is a bit too much like me. Sera would've been difficult and that was one reason I decided to save her romance for a non-elf. So I guess Cullen and a dog would've probably been my fate. It would've been comfy.

But the pain of Solavellan is another level.

Heh. I remember my sister used to have a pretty similar viewpoint on coffee - that everyone loved coffee, they just had to find the blend that was right for them. She even dragged me to a coffee tasting event to try and get me into the stuff, and every time I told her I hated the bitter taste, she just said I should add cream and sugar.

By the end of the night I was refilling my cup with pure creamer, and she had amended her stance on there being a blend for everyone.  :D

My grandma gave me sweet coffee as a small child. This is a traditional thing among Puerto Ricans, giving your tiny children coffee with breakfast. But I grew up hating coffee, except for the smell. My gateway was sweet coffee drinks, one very occasionally, until the point where I found a lovely dark roast that I..actually liked? Still need milk and sugar, but not always so much. And I'm at the point where the overly sugary, syrup-laden coffee drinks are almost undrinkable sometimes.

i usually have two cups a day of regular brewed coffee these days. It only took until I was well into adulthood.

For me, the better comparison is dark chocolate. I couldn't stand it growing up and now I can eat, and enjoy, 85%+ cocoa dark.
