Personally I really wouldn't mind if we had a route in which we managed to turn our old protagonist into a villain, or at least something akin of a villain, or perhaps someone misunderstood, no less than, say, Solas is. Switching POV from one character to another can either really mess with our own perspective - or perhaps widen it, depending on what is done. And I can certainly see it wreck havoc to Protagonist-Centered Morality (http://tvtropes.org/...enteredMorality)

I already sent my Hawke as far down the Villain Protagonist road as the game would let me.  I am so very down with setting my protagonists at odds.  Though if I turn one of my Inquisitors into a villain, it'll have to be Adaar and not Lavellan.  I need one semi-decent PC in Lavellan's worldstate :P

Yeah, as a player of generally moral and heroic protagonists, I would hate that. :P

Well, hopefully it would be an option, just like RPing each individual protagonist :)

After all, you have the choice with each PC to make them moral and heroic, or complete trainwrecks, or something in between.  If you have two protagonists with similar moral compasses, there's no reason for them to be at odds.  On the flip side, a DA4 protagonist who wants to kill Solas and a DA:I Inquisitor who wants to save him could make for some delicious drama, especially if they're both decent people.

After reading Asunder and playing DA:I both ways, I came to the conclusion that the Chantry was really the root of the problem.  Which makes me very, very tempted to chuck RP to the winds and inflict hardened Leliana on the Chantry  <_< Sure, it might not go well, but I really want to serve the institution a good, old-fashioned helping of fire and steel.

Yeah that's what I am striving for in my Darkest Timeline PT.  Taking it one step further -- it's a Leliana that was in love with the Warden who destroyed the Sacred Ashes, killed her, and then did the Ultimate Sacrifice.  All of that is just extras and won't really change anything in game.  Just enjoyable for me to RP unleashing that mess on the Chantry.  Heck she's a lyrium ghost for crying out loud!

I'm generally not a fan of conflict and drama. :P

I do hope if anything like that happens that it is completely optional, and we can just let people work together or have a similar approach.

My protagonists are all different people, but they're generally moral and heroic people.

I could handle a Revan style, 'this was your past' plot, if you can fully control your future. But as much as I found DA2 to be fittingly bleak and a trainwreck, I'd rather not have stories where these bleak things are inevitably forced upon us.

They could always go the dual protagonist route.

That would be the perfect outcome for me. Then I can make my Lavellan and my clueless cheese machine OC :D

A Revan style? You mean making the Inquistor a villain  No thank you very much.

Revan in KotOR began as a villain before you played them but you could turn your character into a hero .. or into a villain again, it was up to you.  I think that's what Cee meant.

Edit to add:  My Revan, of course, was totally light side by the end and a complete goody two shoes.

But now it doesnt matter! Revan turned full on villain.... And i also played one too, and she was a female. Gosh dang it, Bioware. You ruined Revan!

Yes and no.  After he was freed, Revan tried to help the Republic.  He had good intentions just a bad plan.  And then in the SoR expansion, Revan was both good and bad because after he was killed he basically split ... the light part of him accepted his death but the dark part refused to die.  The entire time you were fighting the dark side of Revan and in the end the light side of Revan helped you.  So he was both good guy and bad guy.  I don't really want to play a split personality antagonist though lol.

Edit to add:  People would only know this if they played SWTOR though .... through 7 flashpoints (aka group dungeons) and 2 expansions.  For many the story ended with KotOR 1 and or 2.

Playing devil's advocate; Revan is no longer a protagonist by the time of the events on Yavin-4 in SWTOR -- so how you played Revan is still relevant/still matters as a playable character (especially with the reasons why Cee mentioned it).  In the context of KOTOR, the reveal of who you're playing is in the final sections of the game.  You chose to be a hero or villain completely independent of the protagonist's actual identity.  It could be fun to play a protagonist that way again.  Not the mysterious past amnesia type of thing, but like how Cee mentioned it, "this was your past, you choose your future".  I like redemption arcs when they are done well.  Also dark side Revan was fun.  But MY Revan, she was super light side.

I loved KOTOR, but the less said about Revan's other appearances, the better. I have very uncharitable feelings toward that character's writing.

But then Revan was male. I played a Female Revan. But good point, anyhow.

I had no problem with him in the Maelstrom Prison flashpoint.  After that however  ...  =p

I like the story in Knights of the Fallen Empire better though.  Glad to leave the Revan thing behind.

Also, I know I Liked Lucinia's post but to repeat, there are very good points there.

He's like Vader in reverse for me. Just as whiny brat Anakin is something I try to forget, post-KOTOR Revan is something I try to forget.

Between that and the less than perfect implementation of Hawke, I say be careful what you (the general 'you', not you specifically) wish for when you want protags to come back.  At this point I am of the mind that if I can not control that character, I don't want to see them again.  It just never seems to work.  So please no don't ever bring the Warden back, BioWare please!  lol

Speaking of Revan and KOTOR, can I put on my Xmas list to have Bioware update the game and it's sequel to run on up to date computers?  I would LOVE to play it over and over again.

Yeah the nug king was such a highlight during Descent.  I was grinning.  I always avoid killing the nugs and fennec foxes.  Does anyone know if it plays out differently if you killed a lot of nugs?  Would be amazing if it did.

If the Nug King puts you on trial for killing nugs, then I would be in a lot of trouble. I harvest nugs early in game to make new armor before going to the Hinterlands, especially on hard and nightmare settings!

I bought this at the same time I bought Trespasser, and was going to play it before Trespasser, but couldn't resist the return of Solas.
