I think puffer fish are adorable.

Hufflepuff's mascot is a badger though. Also pretty adorable. ![]()
How is puffer fish not a cute animal!?
But in general, Hufflepuf is the nice house. Really, i'm not nice enough to be a Huffle so I'm going to sit with the other scholars ![]()
I thought Gryffindor was the nice house. I've only seen the first three movies, I'm not versed in the Hogwarts universe.

Gryffindor is nice but more heroic. The do gooders, warriors for justice, protectors. Stuff like that.

Hufflepuff is basically house underrated and underappreciated. ![]()
The wiki has some basics:
Students belonging to this house are known to be hard-working, friendly, loyal, honest and rather impartial. It may be that due to their values, Hufflepuffs are not as competitive as the other houses, or are more modest about their accomplishments. Hufflepuff is the most inclusive among the four houses; valuing hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members
I did the Pottermore test and got Gryffindor, but if so I'm definitely the Neville of the bunch - I'm not at all prone to do anything daring or risky. I think deep down I'm just a simple, nice and lovable Hufflepuff with an inclination for the more intellectual and occasionally eccentric tendencies of a Ravenclaw.
Pottermore test told me I am Ravenclaw ![]()
I just took that and it said Gryffindor but yeah I'd be another Neville. After that it said Ravenclaw.
Poor Solas, now that would be offensive.
I dunno. Rabbits have pretty long ears and I can't believe I just said that what are you people doing to me I don't even
EDIT:
I'd put myself in Hufflepuff. no idea what the pottermore test would say.
I'm a Ravenclaw in, like, every Harry Potter test I've ever taken. But give me ultimate power in a video game, and I do exhibit Slytherin qualities ![]()
Look what I saw at the Winter Palace:

*relates to talk from weeks ago about the moon*.
Hmmm, what do you think Solas would do if Lavellan gave him something sexy to wear? I'm torn between him blushing out of embarrassment or for very... different reasons.
Maybe it's just me (I'm not so much into blushy schoolboy Solas) but I feel like not only would Solas wear it, own it, and make Lavellan drool over him in it, he'd also have an equally skimpy outfit on hand to "gift" to Lavellan. And she'd wear it and own it and make him drool over her in it as she plots her revenge, which probably involves "gifting" him an even skimpier outfit. And then Solas has to get revenge for her revenge, and so on and so forth until Lavellan's running around in her underwear and everyone's going "Inquisitor you're being ridiculous." and Lavellan's just like "NO this is is war goddammit, sexy war, you just don't understand, this is how me and my boyfriend do things."
Basically I headcanon Solas and Lavellan's relationship as two clever but prideful idiots locked in an endless (but friendly!) battle to outwit and one-up each other.
Nah, I think Solas would more likely be Ravenclaw.
I think he would be too, but given how Dorian doesn't really fit any other House either, I can understand them putting Solas in Slytherin (Which he at least kinda fits in a superficial way, more than the others at least.)
I don't really think or see Solas as fitting in Slytherin at all. That would be Vivienne, IMO. Vivienne is pretty much the embodiment of Slytherin traits and values. Ambitious, social-climbing, all about self-preservation, willing to step on pretty much anyone, using her cunning and wits and power to get ahead.
That isn't to say she doesn't ever care, or that any Slytherin doesn't, or won't, but she's an ambitious, self-motivated snob.
Solas isn't self-serving, he seems more self-sacrificing. He's doing whatever he's doing because he thinks "The People" need him, and that this course is inevitable, and that he has to do something, no matter the cost, to himself or the world.
I think Dorian and Solas would both fit nicely into Ravenclaw.
If you're interested, there's a fanfiction writer's group for the Blanketfort. Link is in Cee's signature
I've got it bookmarked already! :-) But -- goofy question -- how do I contribute or put stuff up for consideration for inclusion? I read the Blanket Fort FAQs (which were predictably witty and wonderful) but don't understand how to actually join. I'm a writer but new to fan-fiction -- I did open an account at Archive of Our Own (as 'Eluvianness').
Do it!
And don't forget to share.
Also join us in the writing group
Many thanks for the welcome -- I'll definitely be posting some fiction as soon as I figure out how to do it. I'm such a dork.
It can definitely be a good way to work through the feelings...or create more.
But if you'd like to join the group, beware we may enable more writing, more feels, and such.
Looking forward to it! Also, you guys post and share some truly beautiful stuff. I've really enjoyed so much already simply as a reader.
Did Solas shut Cole out of his mind at the end of this?
Snape would be proud.
This was a great catch! I was so caught up in it for my poor Lavellan when it occurred in my game that I missed the end of the scene -- it does seem apparent to me that Solas shuts everything down.
So, it's almost Christmas... what kind of (semi-realistic) presents would your Lavellan have given Solas? Before the end-game mine would probably have given him some fine new brushes and paint, and also a pajamas that either read "Keep calm and Fade step" or simply "Fade-Nerd".
After the end-game? I think a part of her would have liked to give him a slap, but I'm guessing he is more in need of a hug... so perhaps that pillow I've seen with the full-body Lavellan?
Spoiler
(I'm still laughing at Keep Calm and Fade Step) My Lavellan would give Solas an assortment of teasing and serious presents, so: an assortment of frilly cakes, fine Tevinter teas, a book of obscure Dalish poetry, a singing telegram from Maryden, and a dream-visit of his choice.
I'd list gift options for post-Trespasser but I'm still fragile so they'd all involve my poor Lavellan weeping, drinking, and throwing fireballs at random mages and bald elves.
Post-Trespasser... hmm. I think I would try to dream something for him, not reach for him but make the forest bloom or snow to fall or something similar when I catch him looking. If it is possible at all for me to do. I would try anyway.
This is such a beautiful idea. I loved it.
My cat Tigger (he died in 2012
) would always sit on my keyboard tray using my arm as a neck pillow. It made using my mouse difficult. And he was a huuuuuuuge cat. A lot of people thought he was a Maine C-oon (lol censored) because he shared so many similarities to them. I have all but inherited my sister's cat Sadie (she's been stuck living in no pets allowed places the last few years) and last year she started doing the same thing! She's a tiny cat though. Total opposite of Tigger. She's tall for a cat her size, but she's so small her head is not much bigger than a kitten's. I think she weighs only 7lbs. Very muscular and lean cat, she is heavier than she looks. But she always picks the worst times to cuddle! Sometimes she likes to sit in the tiny space between my mouse and KB and watch me play. It's pretty cute. She also thinks the mic on my headset is her personal chin scratcher!
I love hearing about everyone's pet-people (and Tigger sounds like he was adorable -- sympathies, I lost my little Hermione this Fall at only 8, sniffle). My cat Frodo (a very big cat) likes to flop on top of my hands/wrists on top of the keyboard. So I can kind of keep working (or even playing, if it's a dialogue scene) but -- yeah. They definitely like to make sure our attention is on them!
Pottermore test told me I am Ravenclaw
I would have been very tough for the Sorting Hat to figure out, thanks to my being a total idiot with occasional brains. So I'd probably be in RavenPuff or HuffleClaw.
For Solas, I definitely think he'd be Ravenclaw. Despite his complexities, I don't think he has many Slytherin qualities at all. I could see Dorian doing quite well in Gryffindor, actually, along with Bull. Cole I think would be Hufflepuff.
Pottermore put me in Slytherin.
That is where I belong. One of these days I need to finish reading the books on that website.

I'd say Solas is pretty ambitious, ruthless and cunning. He's not all about self-preservation, and definitely not about getting ahead just to serve himself, but he's got the anti-heroic tendencies that people equate with Slytherin.
That being said, I don't think he fits well, just that he fits better than Bull, Dorian, or Cullen do. And since there are only four houses, people tend to break a character's personality to make them fit into the box the Hogwarts Houses set, regardless of whether or not they actually belong there.
Like, I agree with whoever said Bull doesn't really fit Hufflepuff, but unless one of the Houses develops a reputation for late-night ragers and BDSM, I can understand them forcing Bull into that box, too.
Really, the Hogwarts Houses are just a terrible metric for quantifying a character. It's like the DnD alignment system - it doesn't really allow for nuance and deviance, only strict adherence to a certain set of stereotypes.
As for the writing groups. Someone can add you to the AO3 group. I think drosophila? And if you want to join the group we have on here, just use the link in my signature and I can just approve the request.
Pottermore put me in Ravenclaw. Not surprising given the fact that I actually like to study and learn.
Solas would be Slytherin or Ravenclaw but I am inclined to put him in Slytherin because of his nefarious plans to mess with the fabric of reality.

As much as I love D&D, the alignment system annoys me greatly.

Except he's not doing it for his own personal power or ambition.

Same same! ![]()
I agree, Solas would either be a Ravenclaw or a Slytheirn.

For anyone new to fanfic who doesn't know how to share it, here's what to do.
Have fun ![]()
I just took that Pottermore test and it told me I'm a Slytherin. I haven't read the books and I've only watched the first movie, but Snape was a Slytherin, and he's my favorite character, so I'll take it ![]()
*sighs* I just can not defeat the Guardian in Descent. I brought Solas, Varric and Cassandra. Of course when I try to change party members the game freezes on me because of the mods and right now mod manager isn't working for me. Grrrr!
IS this the one in the Hissing Waste (the one at night?) Somehow I managed to come in from the back right above the last Dwarven ruin and enter there before fighting the dragon. Being in that spot seemed to help shield my group. I did it with Dorian Solas and I think Iron Bull. Lavellan was a KE I know I had Dorian and Solas, and maybe I had Cole because of it being after the break up. I switched between Cole and Bull to get banters to trigger, was hoping for the chess match, and the Dorian Bull romance, but didn't get either no matter where we traveled.
I basically held to the right side of the map until I found a way in. I always have trouble finding that one. If it's a different dragon I haven't got any special tricks.
