I think someone posted that if you apologize right after, before he kills the mages, you still can, but I've never tried it. Then you have to be nice when he comes back or choose the flirt...I forget the steps.

I'm genuinely surprised that the Cullenmance is so high up there. I never understood the Cullen fascination. Maybe I should watch the cutscenes and see what awesomeness I'm missing. I'm most pleased to see that the Solasmance is popular enough to register in this data. I hope "someone" is paying attention, and takes the hint that the fans need more Eggmance in DA4. Yes, I'm holding out hope the Inky is coming back. I don't know why so many people on the forum insist it is impossible. BioWare can break with tradition if they want. Weekes certainly gave me hope that we'll get more Lavellan/Solas goodness. Meh. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

Also, I don't know what the Belle/Rumplestiltskin thing is from, but gosh am I tickled to see Rumplestiltskin show up on the top 10 fanfic ship list. That was my favorite fairytale as a kid. I never imagined that funny little man in a ship though.

Yes, I always thought the orb had finger prints on it. I want an orb. BioWare should manufacture orbs with LED lights in them and everything. Or at least chocolate orange orbs. Just whack and unwrap! Someone needs to make a comic of that. The Inky breaking a chocolate orange orb and Solas freaking out.

 

I'm posting in this thread because it's the one I've been the most active in... I would just like to say congratulations to me for having now played over 1200 hours, ie. 50 entire days of my precious finite little life, playing DA:I.  And probably 1/3 of that time was spent staring longingly at Solas.   To be fair some of that was time the game was running on my comp but I wasn't playing. Has anyone else played an embarrassingly huge number of hours? I was honestly surprised I managed to clock that much time, especially since there were a couple 1-2 month periods of no playing at all.

 

Yeah, I don't know how many hours I've played total, but I'm embarrassed by it. I collected all the shards twice, so I know it won't be pretty. I wish EA and BioWare didn't keep track of those figures. I don't want to know how much time I've spent playing a game. My hours in ME3 made me sick the last time I saw them. I won't check it again. Multiplayer definitely put me way over the top on these most recent BioWare games. Anyway, I just don't want to look at the total. I don't doubt your 1200 hours. It happens, especially when we are re-running through cut scenes with flycam on freeze frame . I can understand them collecting this data, but I don't get why they show it to the users. It makes me self conscious. I guess some people probably like to brag about it though.

I just noticed something when I was playing last night that made me vaguely amused.  After Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts when you go to talk to Solas about what happens he gets all wistful and his talk lets slip that he has probably been to events like that in the past.  This time I had my Quizzy call him out on it and ask if he had.  Got an immediate "Solas slightly disapproves".  The writers even had him stumbling to recover from it and come up with a believable response.  Friggin' love this game, I always discover something new.  Especially now that I know what Solas is.  All those little bits of dialogue that hint at it.  I tend to grumble at my computer, "Yeah I'm onto you wolf." whenever one of those moments pop up.

That fan fic is from the tv show Once Upon a Time, I highly recommend it if you enjoy fairy tale re-tellings.  Hook is a total hottie in it too but Rumplestiltskin has my heart and is a fangirl favorite.  He also doubles as the Beast, hints why he is Belle's lover.  It sounds weird but makes sense in the shows context.

What I love most about Dragon Age is that you can replay the games several times and still discover something new - in my current (4th) play-through I was doing Josephine's personal quest (the one with the House of Repose) and I decided to do it her way rather than Leliana's. I've previously done both, so I didn't think so much about it. However, I must have done something differently, because today when my character was walking towards the War Room she found Josephine and a guard standing over the body of an assassin from the House of Repose. I honestly can't remember this from the first time I played, as far as I recall everything went very smoothly that time without any bloodshed whatsoever. Am I remembering things wrong or is this a different path the quest can take? I admit, even though I know Josie can't be killed, I do feel the urgency a bit more now.

The last save file you can possibly have for Trespasser is right before you enter the eluvian to go talk to Solas. So you can play that part over and over and over if you'd like.

Well, Cullen has been there since game 1 (though after I played older games I'm surprised people latched on what I consider to be very little content for him. Harding has more appearance and dialogue in DAI than Cullen has in DAO and DA2, though admittedly there's less drama to her story) and not only they've made the handsome commander even more of an eye-candy, but his romance is pretty fluffy with a hint of tragedy and vulnerability in it (the whole lyrium thing and previous shenanigans with mages and templars). It might as well be his voice actor too - he does a really good job at conveying Cullen's emotion and personality, IMO.

 

Still, Solasmance is the only other DA romance the statistics have picked from whole DA fandom, despite the fandom overall being the most active during 2015 and despite it being pretty active even before DAI and introduction of Solas  - so that's good news, both when it comes to overall reception of a character, as well as possible sign for us and BW that they've made good decision going in that direction.

 

 

As for Inquisitor coming back... yeah, I'm not sure what's why some people stubbornly claim that it's impossible for them to come back - and that's despite the story claiming otherwise + some suggestive dev comments.

 

Some claim that it's against DA formula... but the truth is that DA has no substantial or fixed formula prior to that (aside from it all happening in Thedas and events being tied with one another). New protagonist was probably the only thing that people are used to at this point, but even that part isn't set in stone for the series and it wasn't for some time now, considering that we have evidence to suspect that it was Hawke that was supposed to be Inquisitor first.

 

Then there are people who say that DA "is a story about Thedas and multiple characters", but either retaining a protagonist, or making Inky a secondary one does little to negate it - it's suggested that we're going to places we weren't before and "finding people Solas doesn't know" (and I'm pretty sure we don't know as well). Whoever we'd have as a PC, we will have new environments and new companions, that's for sure. There's no point understanding "story about Thedas" as being 100% literal - I have suspicion some people don't really understand what that means. 

 

Another claim that each DA installment should be a self-contained story... which is just silly. DA story was never contained - it was always designed to be this sprawling thing that spilled far beyond games (there are books, comics, tabletop games, and so on). Even many arcs within the story were not necessarily contained within one chapter or chosen medium, much less an entire story. I have no idea why some people deny that there's an overarching plot that binds everything together and that we're closer to it now (with the things we've discovered so far, about ancient elves, blight, lyrium, Titans and so on), than we were before. It'd be bizarre from storytelling and logical perspective to slow the machine now and go back to some smaller stories, detached from a bigger picture - especially now, that we got to play a protagonist who was pretty much turned into a demigod and having a personal relationship with a future antagonist who himself is pretty god-like.

I really like the Cullenmance.  I watched my bestie play through the scenes, and it's teethrottingly sweet.  But mostly I'm just happy that Korrasami made the AO3 list.  I've shipped them since Season 1 of LoK

I could have dated Perfect Swan Princess!  There would have been strange concepts like...joy...and happiness in my Dragon Age!  Not sure if I could have handled that

I guess Nirwen may have toughed it out with "lower approval for elves" Sera or maybe Cullen, but we'll never know, because Solas.

 

I don't think the game would've had such a huge emotional impact without having stumbled into a Solas romance my first time through.
