Wait, what?

Every year the Guardian gives a "Bad Sex Award" for published books.  They don't include erotica, probably because the people who write erotica for a living actually know how to describe sex :D

Well, there's always the potential for crossbow arm quizzy :)

Even more irony - the only character my quizzy never maxed out her relationship with was Sera, so she never got her crossbow arm.  :P

Nothing says passion and romance like having your gums jabbed!

... That this was my 2,401st post makes me really question things about myself.

I stopped questioning things about myself after post 10,000.  I'm sure I would benefit from a bit of self-reflection, but alas, that would take away from time spent snickering about silly things on the Internet :P

I... can't really be much of a pirate lady, even if I wanted to, or wasn't caring much about it as I did years later^^; Some family details aside, we've had too many "police enters and takes someone's computer and pirated stuff away" in vicinity recently. I'm not anywhere close to the worst offenders in that regards, especially in last few years during which I'm more careful what and how much I download, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Speaking of which: I just woke up from a dream of kissing Solas, among other things haha..

My brain was confused, but I'm fairly sure it was him.

Still no Cole or Dirthamen .

Well I caved and started my free month. I can now watch things on my xbox, it is waaaay easier than what I did before. It is not illegal to download here though, only to share, so I'm pretty safe.

It's the same here - downloading files isn't illegal, but uploading/distributing pirated content is. But... that's the problem with torrents - they simultaneously download AND distribute the file in small chunks.

Me too. It was the first romance I played through and I really like it. Cullen really is one of the good guys, he is a well written character imo.

I played Cassandras romance lately, up to a point at least, but I did not like it very much. I hate that she goes from "I want to be courted properly" to "you read me a poem - f*** me!" in like 2 seconds. This really bugs me and turned me off. I lost interest in continuing to play pretty quickly then.

Bioware you can announce DA4 now, please, I'm ready! :D

I watched my husband play through the Cassandra romance. Really, she gave it up too quickly in my opinion. You can buy Cassandra's love for a few gold in the Val Royeaux marketplace. BP Either you're interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with someone or you're not. Either you love someone or you don't. Her conditions/expectations seem too juvenile for a woman her age. After playing through the Solas romance it seemed so shallow--cute but shallow.

I still haven't watched the Cullenmance. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard for me. Greg Ellis did a good Anders in Awakening, but his Cullen sounds just like Disciple from Obsidian's Knights of the Old Republic II (also voiced by Ellis). I hated Disciple. This is also why I could never get into Kaidan in Mass Effect. All I hear is Carth Onassi. Now, if BioWare wanted to reuse GDL in another game I wouldn't complain. A wandering Welshman in space maybe? ;)

Imagine if they never made Solas a romance option, as originally planned.

Gah, no thanks. It hurts, but it hurts so good. :crying: I actually was really disappointed in the LI options before release, so I didn't expect any of them to tickle my character's fancy. Subsequently, I wondered if Inquisition was going to be a big let down. It might be terribly girly of me, but the romances do make a big difference. I enjoyed ME2 a lot more than Mass Effect largely because the romances (Tali, Thane, Garrus) were more appealing. I got lucky going with Solas my first PT. Solas was a complete surprise. Thank the Maker Weekes hammered out our Eggmance over that fateful weekend.

Also, I've been listening to a lot of Holly Golightly music lately. Many of her songs have been giving me the Solavellan feels, especially these two:

Uh, but... Cassandra's love isn't "bought on Val Royeaux marketplace for a few gold" - it's not the trinkets that matter, but what is told through them. She explains it pretty well in a scene she has prior to quest to obtain all the necessary 'ingredients' to court her: she has a softer side to herself, that of a closeted romantic; one that her position and life didn't really let shine through much, and she wonders whether any man could truly like her if they knew or think her silly.

She doesn't really ask much from someone other than offering a few small comforts and acceptance of how she is, beyond her taciturn shell of devout and pragmatic Seeker and a warrior. That's hardly shallow or juvenile - IMO I think it's rather endearing.

Meh. Liking to receive trinkets and insisting upon receiving trinkets are two separate things. That's what makes her seem shallow and juvenile to me. There are much more valuable gifts that are much harder to come by, things that can't be bought. Those are the things mature adults would demand from their love. Things like respect, devotion, loyalty, honesty...I'm also biased as my husband has never been one for giving cliché  trinkets, and I've never demanded them. Being a softy romantic isn't shallow or juvenile. It is only the rigid definition of romance as trite gifts and reading poetry that seems shallow and juvenile to little old me. I did find her excitement about Varric's book endearing. The romance just disappointed me...again that is compared with Solas' romance.

At first, I liked the romance quite a bit, and even the part where she says she wants all that romantic stuff. Personally I'm not into that, but that did not bother me. I would have probably liked the following scene if it hadn't ended in sex. I thought it was cute and romantic when he brought her to this place, read her the poem and when they read the other one together. But why - WHY - did it have to end in sex? This left a really bad feeling, a bitter taste in my mouth. What does that say about the men (probably?) who wrote this? What does it tell to men who play this? "Give the woman what she wants and you will be rewarded with sex".  No thanks, I find that disgusting.

I don't wanna be the party pooper but that's how it often works. I know personally several women which would do pretty much the same. I have nothing against Cassie, it's a game and they can hardly dedicate the instalment to slow cooked romance. Also, Cassandra is in her 40's by the Inquisition, no? Maybe she just wanted to know the guy's capable of doing what she asked him in the relationship (need a hug, need a romantic dinner, need a quiet evening, need rough...ehm, anyway), and then simply moved to the more pleasurable parts of the relationship - which at that point might've ended abruptly by the death of either one of them or both.

War time and stuff? I don't assume Cory looming on the horizon makes one want to drag a lover on a platonic string for too long.

It's my opinion, ofc.
