The first of the magus cast themselves deep in the Fade in search of answers and power, always power. They found the forbidden ones – Xebenkeck, Imshael, Gaxkang the Unbound, and The Formless One. Many conversations were had and much of the fabric of the world revealed. And thus the magic of blood was born.
While being Cadash and talking to Cole about templars, I heard some things and one extra as a Dwarf:
The first three things are about templars being able to block magic with lyrium, because lyrium is titan blood and titans block magic.
What I want to know is what Cole means when he says "So do you, except your mark pulls you up". Is it some sort of reference for falling into the sky? Or the same sort of reference he made about rocks in the fade, "They still remember when they were higher, before it woke up and everything fell".
And what's the source of the "old whispers" that want the red lyrium song unlocked? Old Gods maybe.

I've seen all of those except the remark about Varric as a non-dwarf.
Fanfiction chapter? Fanfiction chapter! It...actually has very little to do with Solas or Lavellan, but hey, shameless self-promotion for Bull and his Chargers on a Dorian rescue mission

Is red lyrium related to the Forgotten Ones of the Void??
Why can't these two be together (I know why but urghh):
They're cute..
I desperately wanted to romance Varric with my Cadash and I think Solas would be fascinated by a dwarf who can dream. I don't remember was there a racial dialogue after the Fade chat?
Maybe dwarves and elves are like polarities of a magnet, elves attract the Fade and therefore can use magic while dwarves rebel it. A quirk of nature that becomes weaker over the generations because the Veil is blocking the Fade. So much so that something from the old world and as powerful as the Anchor can override even a dwarf's resistance.
Humans and qunari coming from wherever they come from operate under different rules.
Anyway I think more should have been made of the dreaming thing for dwarf Quizzy.

Seems to me - and obviously this is just a theory - that dwarves and elves are almost polar opposites. Dwarves are children of the stone and somehow related to the Titans, beings obviously of the physical world. We have evidence that elves are somehow related to spirits - a codex entry found in the Vir Dirthara has an elf referencing their brethren of the air - and elves seem very connected to the Fade. Dreams are related to the Fade and dwarves seem more connected to the physical realm and much less connected to the Fade than other people.
Ok, I'm tired and I just realised you said that elves and dwarves are like the polarity on a magnet. So we agree yay! This is what I get for staying up way too late and waking up way too early ><

It's been over a year and I'm still not over Solas. WHAT THE HECK. Every single time I see Solas I get that ache in my vhenan like Weekes is suddenly laugh-sobbing behind me and thinking of more ways to cause us pain BUT not because he can but because he HAS TO.
I mean look at Solas' face here, he's like "lololol imma break yer heart real gewd baby"

After a lot of thinking I think I may have an idea for a character for my character in the DA RPG, but I want to run it by you guys so you can help me improve upon it or tell me if something doesn't match up with the lore.
Background:
My character (no name as of yet) was born an elven Tevinter slave and sold very young to a female magister with progressive views. At the age of 8 my PC is discovered to have magical talent. The magister sees potential in her, frees her and takes her as her apprentice. My PC is an ambitious woman who is not satisfied simply belonging to the Laethan class, and she is frustrated because she feels her race is holding her back. She becomes involved in different schemes, more and more dangerous as times go by. After a scheme directed at a high ranking magister is exposed she is caught and jailed. Her former mistress manages to get her out by using her connections to the Archon, but the magister realizes that my PC needs to leave Tevinter for some time. The magister therefore sends away my PC to gather newly rediscovered Elven lore and spells.
Goals:
Short-term - Finding newly rediscovered Elven lore and spells for the magister
Short term - Learning current and ancient Elven
More long-term - Returning to Tevinter
Lifelong goal - Becoming a magister and reforming Tevinter in accordance with her former mistress's views
This is my first tabletop RPG, do you think this will work?

I'm thinking the reference to the Mark means that while most of the dwarves still have some connection to the Stone, that is, the Titans down below, the Mark is something of the Fade. Literally pulling Cadash 'up', closer to the Fade. As others have mentioned, the elves and the Fade have a lot of imagery association with the sky, so it'd make sense.
What really intrigues me is the door 'old whispers want open'. Probably the Black City, and whatever got the Magisters to break in.

I like the backstory It's detailed without being convoluted.
IMO, tabletop roleplaying is as much about the moment-to-moment characterization as the big-picture stuff like backstory and ideals. So it helps to also think of things like how your character immediately reacts to danger--because you'll be in a lot of it Does she start slinging fire? Hang back cautiously? Any physical or verbal tics? You wind up RPing details like these much more frequently, and they help make the character memorable.
For example, my 5th edition rogue has the phrase "impulsive, wiseass adrenaline junkie" written on her character sheet That informs her immediate reaction to a lot of events. So far she's stolen an obnoxious nobleman's doorknob, jumped into a gladiator pit with no backup, drunk from a well of pure arcane energy, and set a golem on a hapless garrison of guards.

That's a good idea, I will definitely consider that! I haven't got that much of a grasp on her personality yet, only that she is ambitious and often rather selfish (not the kind that will stab her friends in the back for her own gain, but she is certainly always looking out for her own interests). Hmm, being from Tevinter I think she is quite cunning, so I think she will be the kind to analyze the field of battle before doing anything hasty. She is going to be swearing a lot (thank you Fenris for teaching me Tevene swearwords!). I think she will also be condescending towards non-mages, so that will be everyone else in my party. Everyone is going to hate her! I need to name her, but can't decide if she should have an Elven name or a Tevene name. And what would her last name be, do freed slaves pick them themselves?
I was reading a part of the DA-RPG guidebook when I saw and was reminded of this passage:
The god of death and fortune, Falon’Din and his twin brother Dirthamen are the eldest sons of Elgar’nan and Mythal. From birth, these two were inseparable spirits, split from each other for the very first time in adulthood when the kindly Falon’Din carried a dying deer to rest beyond the Veil, to a place where Dirthamen could not easily follow. Falon’Din swore to guide all beyond the Veil when their times came, a duty that became more and more important as death became more and more common among the elves.
I just realized that this part of the lore is either completely fabricated or has changed a lot, because as we all know now the Evanuris was locked away at the same time the Veil came up (or that is at least my interpretation). So if this story is new, was he still known as a god of death during his lifetime? Was he given that title because of his wars rather than compassion? Interesting either way.
Oooh! Yours sounds interesting too! More drama in (your) Tala's life! I say write it out!
Just in case you're wondering what I'm working on (copy & pasting what I wrote at the smut thread):
Spoiler
My idea is to have this take place when she's in her teens and with her up to her little shenanigans with her friends trying to sneak into the clan's stockpile of *insert alcholic beverage here* and her providing a... distraction to the guard.
(Yes, it's almost basically a PWP situation but it's something I just want to indulge in. For fun.)
Take note that even though I headcanon Solas being Tala's first, I'd like to think she's had some kind of sexual experience before him because she's the type to have a little bit of fun. (She just wasn't ready to have her cherry popped yet at this point).
Feel free to join us! The more the merrier! (Cee could approve you for the group if ever you decide to join in!)
Ooh, I love OC backstories. :3 It sounds fun and super adorable (even the sexy elements, if that's possible. Wait, yes it is posible; Deedeelovescake proved the existence of adorabpornz). Indulge away!
Cee. Psst, hey Cee. May I please be approved to join the group?
My Shepard and Thane had a definite attraction-but-unrequited-love thing going on. I really liked his character, but it would have destroyed the narrative I had going in my head about their interactions and feelings. Also I am so over dead wives.
Meanwhile I refused to go near Jacob because I was fully convinced Shepard would step into the room buck-naked and adorned with whipped cream. "Heeeyyyy Jaacob. Wanna... talk a bit? About... things?" *winkwink*
I love your voice acting, Jennifer Hale, but WT ever loving F.
Yeah wow, did it ever become uncomfortable talking to Jacob as femShep. If the character is not engaging in a romance with him, why have her talk like that? Jennifer Hale is usually spot on, so I assume it was poor direction/writing/shoehorning, but still. Frustrating being forced into flirting with a character if that's really not your intent as the player. And I went into the game with full awareness of the fact that Jacob silently leaves a romanced Shep between ME2 and ME3 (and gets his new girlfriend preggers who confusingly wants to name the baby after Shep) and was so nooooope. Not interested.
And I second the dead wives thing. Lazy trope utilization in place of character development. Zzzzzzzzz.
Spoiler
Hahah! So accurate.
And just so this post isn't entirely off topic, here's the very first sketch I did of Solas way back in November 2014, before Fade Tongue™, before butt grabs, before lath and vhenaaanz and the deep, lasting pain. ಥ‿ಥ
