Lied about what?
After downloading DA: Origins to my PS3 I got inspired, so I started a play-through with the Dalish origin (which I have never done before). At the very beginning you come by an Elven artifact, and when examined it says:
A small stone statue of a woman with antlers like a halla, with the moon under her right foot, and two hares beside her. The base of the statue is covered in strange writing.
We know that the halla is connected to Ghilan'nain, and the hares are also connected to her as well as Andruil. But what do you think about the moon? Wasn't the moon connected to either Andruil or Mythal? And why is she standing on it? The sphere is a symbol that was seen frequently in DA:I, so it feels like it is of importance to the lore.

So, just a heads up on an upcoming fic (yeah I know shameless promo and all that):
I was inspired by the fic Lies Upon Lies (by TheHidden1 on AO3) to start thinking about my own modern OC in Thedas story. So that'll be coming, eventually. She's not me (far from it!), it will be told in third person, and stuff and things. It will probably be OCxSolas, with an Adaar Inquisitor, although I've been considering making the Inquisitor a Lavellan.
In the meantime, Endless Journey is about two chapters away from being finished, if anyone's interested. Though the rest of it will probably not contain any Solas (I'm sorry).
Also...
Random theory stuff:
Has anyone thought that Mythal could have created the Blight? I'm sure someone has. But with those whispers about Mythal and "the Calling" and her "reckoning that will shake the very foundations of the world..." She said that she was betrayed, and the whole world was betrayed. You could argue that Solas is the betrayer of the world, but what if that's not quite true? What if Mythal created the blight in response to what she perceived as a betrayal of the world? Likewise, although she may have not had the best of intentions when she went to the Deep Roads and was messing with the Titans, perhaps someone else did something even worse.
Since we now have a strong suspicion, if not outright knowledge, that Mythal was Vengeance, not Justice, the Blight may have been created in vengeance for... something. It's not clear what.
I can't shake the notion that Mythal's goals align with Solas's, thus drinking the Well of Sorrows may have serious consequences later on. I hope it does. We were heavily warned--so it either needs to have something turn out amazingly good for us in the end, or horrifically bad, in the next DA game. Otherwise it's just kind of dropping the ball.
Likewise, what's with the underground lizard-men? Those are mentioned in two DLCs now. We hear about them from the Avvar conspiracy theorist in Jaws of Hakkon, and then we read about them from presumably a dwarf's journal in The Descent. If the world was betrayed, could they be the betrayers?
I think, as others have said elsewhere, that if Solas is ultimately the Big Bad of DA4, it's going to be kind of a letdown. Thedas is bursting with events and history; the ancient elven gods could be escaping, the lizard-men could be a very real threat that does not solely exist in the head of an Avvar conspiracy theorist, and we still don't know the whole story behind the Old Gods and the Blight.
Dunno about you people but I'm eager for DA4 already. Wish they'd announce it - I want to see what becomes of my Inquisitor and her relationship with Solas. I also maintain my position that his plan will go forward even if we change his mind and stop him individually. Again, Mythal's goals likely align with his to some degree. Even if he stops working to remove the Veil and reunite the Fade and the waking world, she will find a way to ensure that it happens, solely because she can't get her earth-shaking vengeance until she does. Let's not forget that when the Inquisitor wants to know why she hasn't helped the elves, she tells you "You know not what you ask." She isn't saying she hasn't done it out of kindness. She's saying you're not really an elf by her standards, that you are effectively hurting yourself.
(Ahem. I haven't been around in a while so I'm sure I've missed oodles of things. Interesting and bizarre alike.)
I'm glad I dropped in again because usually people join first and then I'd approve the request.

Ooft. It would look AMAZING. But would probably be quite disorienting during the fight scenes--particularly as a rogue, haha. Though not quite the oculus proper, my man bought the Samsung Gear VR for his Note 4, and it is frgging wondrous. And as a bonus, it leaves a hilarious, lasting goggle mark around your eyes.

Well, 'Mythal gives you dreams' (to the Dwarves). I don't think it signifies the blight: that sounds like it came from the void. Though the Calling is a song, and lyrium has a song.
I'm suspicious the underground lizard men are some beings affected by either dragon's blood (which makes you grow scales if consumed) or red lyrium (In the quest 'stone dreams' someone is mining red lyrium and says about it, "My flesh twists, claws and fangs ripping forth").
I think when Mythal says "You know not what you ask", it's more of a warning. A codex says: Some petitioning Mythal for justice hid jealousy, accusing those who had done them no wrong. She saw their lies, and struck them down. Others petitioning Mythal for justice burned with wrath for imagined slights. She saw their weak hearts, and struck them down.
Someone on Twitter asked PW how Felassan looked like:

It makes me want to redraw Felassan again only this time, with Mythal's valllaslin. (In my artwork, I gave him Falon'Din's.

If he looked like Ameridan it's a wonder he didn't have a little trail of drooling elves following him everywhere. Ameridan was ridiculously good looking for an older guy...

He did say spoilers for a while. I think Trespasser being out kind of set them a bit free on a few things. Probably to avoid confirming fan theories like connecting Felassan to Fen'Harel via a connection that we knew existed in some form between Mythal & Fen'Harel, even before then but more blatant in Trespasser.
If he said Mythal's before then, I think more people than those like us who were discussing this stuff might have made a greater connection, especially since the book's ending was left a mystery.

Where did I hear that someone said he responded 'spoilers' about Felassan's vallaslin? That was months ago.
Yeah I remember that. I don't know who asked or when, but he did say it was spoilers. Now he's saying "probably Mythal."
It's looking more and more like Solas and Mythal had some serious ties. Why else would he be okay with one of his top followers seemingly remaining loyal to Mythal? I think the theory that he was Mythal's wolf (as in, like the Emerald Knights kept wolves as protectors) is more and more likely. And, given that he actually did have at least one portrayal of himself as a Pride-Wolf, he probably really did take form as a wolf at least occasionally (or perhaps only in the Fade?).
We know Solas rebelled against the evanuris. We don't know if this was before or after Mythal's murder, but one can guess that even if he rebelled beforehand, he felt it was a personal failure when Mythal was killed. It was his job to protect her, presumably.
As much as Solas-as-wolf and Mythal-as-dragon are portrayed side-by-side in elven artwork and statuary, I'd say that the lovers theory is lent some credence. However, it also seems that Solas may have begun his existence as a spirit (or demon) of Pride, and that Mythal had something to do with his coming into physical being--which he did not want to do. Or else, she made him remain physical when he had wanted to return to being a spirit. It's not entirely clear. Either way, Solas was presumably under a geas to serve her, and that would mean any romantic relationship he may have had with her was... not under the best of circumstances. Hard to say if he really wanted such a connection or if he thought he did because of the geas. It may be why he has complicated feelings regarding Mythal--he may still not be sure how much of his entanglement was truly himself, and how much was the will of Mythal.
Equally interesting is the lack of Elgar'nan iconography where Mythal iconography is found. If she and Elgar'nan were truly married, you'd think it would be Elgar'nan whose statues were everywhere Mythal's were. You would not think that the son's statues would be by the mother's, unless he were widely viewed as a child. But no, he's either the equal or the protector. And that means we may need to revise our Dalish-crafted notions that Mythal and Elgar'nan were a unit, and instead view Mythal and Solas as a couple. Elgar'nan may still have been the top leader, but it's likely that, if Solas had become a hated figure, the Dalish may have rewritten history to better suit their needs. Elgar'nan had a temper, but he also didn't destroy the world.
Unless, of course, he did, and that's why we hear so little about Elgar'nan... Because Mythal did something to him.
It already seems that Falon'din's warring ways (and possibly necromancy on top of blood magic, as "friend of the dead" might suggest--he needed an army after all and if everyone had to die to power his magic, well.. necromancy is certainly one way to get an army) caused him to be permanently sealed into the Fade. And that likely led to Dirthamen plotting with the others to overthrow Mythal, due to his displeasure with how Falon'din was treated. Falon'din was most likely not just his twin, but literally the two were either the same kind of spirit, or the same spirit. Remember Knowledge from Trespasser? It claims it's one spirit, but it exists in many places at once. Dirthamen and Falon'din could be the same. Once Falon'din was trapped in the Fade, Dirthamen was no longer truly whole, and yes, I am guessing he would be pretty angry about that. We also have a few hints, via the in-game statues etc., that Dirthamen might very well have been the one who orchestrated the betrayal. It's his statue in Flemeth/Mythal's Fade scene, after all. So it's likely he with whom she's angriest. And remember that "the sinner belongs to Dirthamen." Dirthamen may well have already been trying something with this "sinner" and failed. So then he had to try another tactic...
Anyone else wishing Solas had told us a little bit more? Or a lot more? I want to know just what happened back then! Of course his is only one perspective...
However, it also seems that Solas may have begun his existence as a spirit (or demon) of Pride, and that Mythal had something to do with his coming into physical being--which he did not want to do. Or else, she made him remain physical when he had wanted to return to being a spirit.
In the fade, he does say "I never thought I wold find myself here physically". So he might well have been there as a spirit. But then he also says when asked if he's like Mythal that "This is all I have ever been".
Elgar'nan had a temper, but he also didn't destroy the world.
Unless, of course, he did, and that's why we hear so little about Elgar'nan... Because Mythal did something to him.
I'd say it's possible according to this codex:
Elgar'nan had defeated his father, the sun, and all was covered in darkness. Pleased with himself, Elgar'nan sought to console his mother, the earth, by replacing all that the sun had destroyed. But the earth knew that without the sun, nothing could grow. She whispered to Elgar'nan this truth, and pleaded with him to release his father, but Elgar'nan's pride was great, and his vengeance was terrible, and he refused. It was at this moment that Mythal walked out of the sea of the Earth's tears and onto the land. She placed her hand on Elgar'nan's brow, and at her touch he grew calm and knew that his anger had led him astray. Humbled, Elgar'nan went to the place where the sun was buried and spoke to him. Elgar'nan said he would release the sun if the sun promised to be gentle and to return to the earth each night. The sun, feeling remorse at what he had done, agreed.
And so the sun rose again in the sky, and shone his golden light upon the earth. Elgar'nan and Mythal, with the help of the earth and the sun, brought back to life all the wondrous things that the sun had destroyed, and they grew and thrived. And that night, when the sun had gone to sleep, Mythal gathered the glowing earth around his bed, and formed it into a sphere to be placed in the sky, a pale reflection of the sun's true glory.
A lot of his symbolism is tied up in the 'sun', which I think relates to the Fade. You see it in Solas' mural, you hear about the Dwarves fearing it as a representation of Elgar'nan, and it's a symbol of the Maker.
Falon'din was most likely not just his twin, but literally the two were either the same kind of spirit, or the same spirit. Remember Knowledge from Trespasser? It claims it's one spirit, but it exists in many places at once. Dirthamen and Falon'din could be the same. So then he had to try another tactic...
Oh I like this, I hadn't thought about the 'more than brothers' connection since Trespasser. You could be quite right that they are of the same spirit. They could have been separated in a similar way as the archivist: (from the wiki) The spirit itself was sundered and is no longer whole, which it laments. It is unable to "think with itself" and the knowledge of each instance is incomplete.
Anyone else wishing Solas had told us a little bit more? Or a lot more? I want to know just what happened back then! Of course his is only one perspective...
I'm glad for what we did get, but of course I want to know all the things

Nice find! The moon was made by Mythal, and the hares are usually associated by Andruil who I suspect had some sort of relationship with Ghilan'nain. Why Ghilan'nain has the (Mythal's) moon under her foot: perhaps because she was made an evanuris because her creations were taking over the world and so Mythal had no choice but to promote her.
The hares are also connected to Ghilan'nain because Andruil sent them to free her from her bonds when she was left for dead in the woods. You can read about it in her codex here. If the moon symbolizes Mythal, is it possible that the artifact literally shows Ghilan'nain "stomping down on" Mythal, i.e. being responsible for her murder? There definitely is something weird going on with that elf, what with all her strange experimenting and giving "the sinner" wings. Perhaps Ghilan'nain and Andruil were friends/lovers/sisters and she didn't take kindly to what Mythal did to Andruil?
On another note (and this gives me a lot of headache) if most of the Dalish stories are falsehoods and/or exaggerations, why do the gods in the murals at the Temple of Mythal still use symbols that are connected to these stories? For example, Falon'Din in his mural has what looks very much like a shepherds staff despite the story of him guiding the dead through the veil being something obviously created after the Evanuris disappeared. Yet the temple can't be from a time far after the gods disappearance, as we have Abelas there and also codex entries that indicate that the temple was used for some time before their disappearance.
