P.S. Forgot to add I'm also a completionist.  My current Lavellan playthrough has gone on forever because I am making sure to do everything.  That said I think I won't be as obsessive with other playthroughs mainly because the golden nug is my friend.  Dunno if you've played all the way through Trespasser yet but when you get there be sure to click on that golden nug.  It will save all the collectibles and transport them into your future games.  So all those banners, beds, schematics, and so on will all be ready and waiting for future Inquisitors.
 

I think self-inserts happen in some form or another in pretty much everything.  As writers we write what we know and tend to sprinkle in little bits of ourselves in what we write.  My biggest thing is most of my females are some flavor of red hair with freckles.  2 guesses what color hair I have .  In my defense redheads in books and movies didn't start getting popular till after Brave (loved that movie till the 100th person asked, "Hey anyone ever told you you look like that girl..." yes, yes they have.  Anyways, I digress)

I mean, I play the default world-state an I left Stroud because he kinda had no attachments and I at least knew something about Hawke. Plus I couldn't hurt Varric like that.

Sadly no and shards aren't included either but luckily I found most of the mosaics and stuff are at locations I have to go to anyways.  I'm planning on being a cheater cheat when I'm doing quick playthroughs after the big one and using collection maps people have made to be sure I get all the mosaics and bottles .  It is still work but at least then I won't be obsessively using the search button in every little corner like I am now to find all the banners and what have you.  Also nice because I believe you have to buy some of the decor/banners so with the nug that means you only need one character to buy them and your others don't need to bother with it.

 

I know what you mean about the red hair.  I was actually pretty disappointed at that I mean red hair is rare in real life but from what I can tell it is a pretty popular choice in games and character creations.

About Gaider & Weekes... TBH I freaking love Weekes' characters (Solas, Cole, IB). I found them amazingly written. High hopes for Weekes being lead writers. I knows this might rub off the nose of some people but from what I see, Weekes loves elves stories, magic etc. So well...

Edit to add -- ooh, NeverlandHunter, you've just given me a good RP reason to kick Sera out of the Inquisition. Because that's exactly what my Lavellan would have done had she found out Sera desecrated the graves. A bit late for that now, and I liked having Sera around... but that's one way to kill two birds with one stone, I suppose.

It's 7 a.m and I should be asleep but I'm super embarrassed. I posted the picture on reddit but I accidentally worded the description like pron. It's edited now but I had 60 views and no upvotes so the damage is done.. I think I disappointed a lot of people haha, Oh mercy. The fail, it burns.

My first playthrough, which I never finished because of computer issues and accidentally wiping out saved games and basically having to start over, was with a Trevelyan. I couldn't do The Spoils of Desecration with her, either, because I already liked Solas for being so cerebral (I'm a sucker for intelligence). When I first found Var Bellanaris and he made a comment along the lines of "This place is sacred to my people. Tread lightly here," I couldn't desecrate the graves as Trevelyan, either.

I had my first session playing the DA table-top RPG today! It was loads of fun, although being an elven mage from Tevinter does tend to make the other characters distrust you...  It was very exciting, I nearly bled out in the last fight!

Alright so I'm trying to write up a plausible plan that Solas might have to tear the veil down for my next fic.  I wanted to run a theory through here to see if it was plausible or too crazy.

 

Is it possible Solas could be having the artifacts activated because they will somehow allow him to tear the veil down in some places but leave it up in others?  The reason he might want to do this is so that the areas were the Evanuris are sealed will stay separated while the rest is torn down.  I just can't see Solas going through all that work to seal them only to tear it all down knowing that they will probably continue to be generally awful beings.  Also why would he go through all the trouble with the artifacts?  I mean yeah it could just be some random errand quest BioWare threw in but from a story stand point he must have a reason yes?

I can't quite remember the wording, it was something involving the words 'looking behind her at naked Hawke'. It was implicit but argh, I still feel dumb. That'll teach me for writing it at 6 a.m without having slept .

Lol, the glove metal part in actuality has practical purposes - Cassandra has similar one in her default outfit, albeit much smaller: the armed glove protects the hand, but its build is remarkably simple - instead of multiple layers of material constructed in a way that would not restrain wrist and finger movement (just look how complicated gauntlets can be in that area):

... there's just a plate that is bent upwards to allow the full bend of the wrist while keeping fingers straight.
