Oh... MY GOSH YES.

If he's not a villain that tries to bribe us into being his evil queen, then I want him to go home with Lavellan and be her Dalish prince. EEP.

Also imagine the intricate patterns that could be done with all that space.

I really hated the whole run away with bad boy Bishop in NWN2 thing, but if it came down to that with Solas I would probably not hesitate.

Yeah... I'm getting more and more sold on the ancient elf theory.

Wouldn't it just beat all if the theory we discussed for so long and eventually dismissed turned out to be true all along?

For clarification and/or speculation purposes:

Dragon Age Keep ‏@DragonAgeKeep

Just to clarify - the Keep will upload your Warden’s & Hawke’s appearance from DAO/DA2. Sorry for the previous vague tweet!

I think I'm the only person here who isn't into the ancient elf theory.  Based on The Masked Empire, I'm probably going to have to deal with it but immortality isn't something I'm fond of seeing in fiction.  Especially if it's portrayed as part of a Utopian society.  Immortality actually kind of horrifies me.

Uh, I think I might not be talking about the same thing you guys are. I didn't think the ancient elf theory involved him actually being alive since ancient times... /confused

It's made pretty clear in TME that the ancient elves were far from a utopia, if that helps.

From how it sounded in TME, it wasn't any sort of Utopia. I'm really curious if/how any information or truth about that will be presented.

If he's an ancient elf, I don't think he's immortal (especially since he's in his 40s). I think he's just been in stasis for a long time. I'm pulling this out of the air because I haven't read supplemental materials.

Stasis is an idea - I was thinking ancient elf reborn as Solas.

Solassians, please help me out. What exactly was the original ancient elf theory? It seems I was wrong about it.

Don't worry you are not the only one. I'm not on the "ancient elf" bandwagon either. But I know it's just people guessing and having their own theories in here I'm just not into it and don't believe it. :)

I'm not exactly convinced he is either... Its definitely a cool theory, and it would be really neat if it turned out to be true... I'm more leaning toward the fact that he found out how its done... Or, in his travels through the Fade or elven ruins he came across one, or the 'soul' of one... (not sure what you'd call it in the DA universe - but like whatever we find in that vial in Origins that teaches the Arcane Warrior spec) and was able to absorb his/her knowledge, or even their memories. Hmmm...

We've gotten indications that it wasn't a utopian society, it was just...different.  And the elves weren't immortals in a sense that they could never die, they simply had the potential to live indefinitely if they chose.  They could be killed and elves who chose not to leave uthenera would eventually have their bodies wither and die.

The Masked Empire added the concept that while most elves in uthenera needed to be cared for to continue living in stasis, there were some elves that learned to sustain themselves from the energies of the Fade.  So they could potentially sleep undisturbed for as long as they liked and never die.

I think the idea's been around for a while, so I don't know about there being an "original" ancient elf theory.  I wrote my own ideas about it over at the Felassan thread shortly after The Masked Empire came out.

I need to read TME again. Not that I mind, I enjoyed the first time, but now I wonder just how much of the lore revealed there will wind up coming into play. Missed the part where some elves could keep themselves alive through a connection with the Fade... That does sound like something a certain elf we know could figure out how to use... or has already used...

That's what I've been thinking too that he gets his knowledge from these ancient ruins that he visits and goes into the fade. Nothing wrong with having different theories I just don't agree to this ancient elf theory at all. XD
