So, does anyone else here have Mahariel as the canon Warden?

This made my day, and that's coming from someone who is gonna watch Deadpool later! :D

*raises hand*

My canon Warden is a Mahariel.

My canon for DAO so far is - who else, of course - a mage elf: Faye Surana. I'm not sure if it'd stay that way though.

Also, it just hit me today... Trespasser was released 5 months ago already!? WHAT...

DAI was my first DA elf protagonist. And it just dawned on me that all I've made so far are three Lavellans. My canon, Nirwen is a rogue and the others are mages. Two female, one male. I scrapped mage female though, for reasons. Male Lavellan is also a mage, and destined for Cassandra.

I do have a Trevelyan playthrough planned though. I've talked about Claire before. Protege of Vivienne, future wifey of adorable blonde elf rogue.

Yup! My first Dragon Age child, Aoife Mahariel. Her and Solas would hate each other. Here she is.

Aah, I'm going to see Deadpool tomorrow. So excited.

I just asked because sometimes I wonder if Lavellan looked up to Mahariel when growing up, maybe listening to the tales about his/her feats.

It's a question of whether stories of Warden's achievements actually circulated around Thedas - which I'm not sure they did. Oh sure, the Hero Of Ferelden was most definitely known; Cassandra and Leliana wouldn't even consider chasing after them to propose them the role of Inquisitor prior to Hawke (in a worldstate that they're alive), but I keep wondering how many of Warden's actual accomplishments were known, other than they've managed to unite people living on territory of Ferelden to stand against the Blight and slayed an Archdemon.

All the time I've played DAO, I kind of got the feeling that a lot of what they did flew under a radar - naturally, because Fereldan was a backwater country and most of people were in state of panic or fleeing from hordes of darkspawn rampaging through the countryside; that sort of "slipping through the cracks" kind of allowed create a character that can just shiv people they meet, or make decisions or do stuff that would never fly for the Inquisitor (can you imagine mostly Andrastian South and a large deal of nobles ever tolerating a blood mage Inquisitor? Cassandra would probably rather disband the Inquisition, or leave its ranks, same way she did with Chantry and Seekers. It's enough of a controversy when they're anything other than a rogue/warrior human noble...) - but this also means that their smaller, but no less heroic deeds might never be registered as well. Though that certainly has not stopped people from speculating or adding their own tales to the mix - heck, Inquisitor certainly knows something about that...

Another is a question of how much clan Lavellan is in touch with the stories and their individual take on achievements of HoF - which I assume is mostly a matter of headcanon. Canon-wise I'd say that they probably know something, but it's hard to say what, given just how much depends on individual playthrough, nevermind the hc.

Well, there certainly was some way these news reached Merril as she does mention it when you meet her in DA2.

And if you ask Cammen "How do you know who I am?", he responds with " Everyone knows who you are!".

The Dalish pay little attention to human affairs, but they certainly would be interested in a fellow elf that has made a name for him/herself. Not to mention that the Blight hardly is a human exclusive issue.

Oh, almost forgot. The Dalish woman you meet in Witch Hunt also says she's heard about you.

I'm pretty sure that many elves have heard at least something, but that doesn't necessarily has to amount to much - after all, the Keeper of the clan we meet at Exalted Plains knows about Inquisitor, but they certainly don't trust them at sight, going as far as saying that "their Inquisition is human", and aside from Loranil, most clan members either doen't seem to trust Inquisition, or don't treat them as a big deal...and that's despite the fact that unlike DAO, now it's not jst Ferelden that is at the risk of the Blight, but entire world is threatened by Corypheus and the Breach...

Granted, it's not like the Wardens are overly-Andrastian - despite the Chantry initially deeming Inquisition as heretical, as Dorian explain it, it's hard to NOT read the whole Inquisition and its "Herald Of Andraste" as being an arm of Southern Chantry. Grey Wardens oftentimes invoke the Maker and the Chants, but their focus isn't religion-oriented, and they've already had elven heroes among them (Garahel). By all means the Wardens might have it easier when it comes to either inspiring other elves, or at the very least have a good reputation, though I suppose that also depends on a clan.

I'm not sure what she is giving Solas in that fanart.

It is either the orb, which would be the best gift ever, or a rock. You know, so that he can pretend it is a seed and overcome his challenges (must be a Dalish thing).

There's actually an example of this in-universe.

If you did the Crime Wave quests in Origins, you are given the option to call out the "Dark Wolf" in Awakening as having appropriated both your nickname and reputation for themselves. Kind of fun to learn that despite how famous the Warden is for their actions in the Blight, nobody ever though to associate the legendary Hero of Ferelden with the infamous thief who terrorised the nobles of Denerim during that same period of time.

Although I suppose it makes sense, it'd be like someone suggesting that Batman and Superman are the same person?

Although my Warden was generally pretty good, as a rogue player, and a curious one, I couldn't resist doing those. (And she was a noble herself, of course). Then again, she also drank Avenus' research. Amaya, perhaps a bit too curious.

But that bit in Awakening was highly amusing.

Batman is the Joker on a really good day, whereas the Joker is Batman on a really, really, really bad day.

That's actually my personal headcanon for my Lavellan towards my Mahariel. :) My Lavellan was 10 years old during the events of DA:O so I imagine she grew up hearing stories about the Dalish Warden who became the Hero of Ferelden during the Fifth Blight and it's also what partly sparked her thirst for adventure. :P

It's funny, because given how old I made Nirwen, she would've been around 21 or so when the Blight was happening. So, in going back and writing stories about her being 16/17 and around there, I really did wind up going back to such an innocent time. Which works fine to me, because of everything she'd eventually go through. :P I'm glad to have one timeline writing about her being younger and being able to have some happiness in her life with her family and her girlfriend before life changes in multiple ways and eventually she gets her fateful assignment.

My headcanon for Lavellan is that she was about 12 or 13 and had just come into her magic at the time of the Blight. Although she didn't believe half of the tales about Mahariel, she adored hearing them nonetheless and they cemented her belief that the Dalish could accomplish great things among the other races, if they were more willing to interact with them instead of remaining in their self-imposed exile.

I also like to picture her as a bit of a night owl and spending her time reading until the early hours of the night, often leaving her the only one awake in camp besides the sentries. This made her one of the few to witness the flight of an enormous dragon (actually Flemeth) flying north, one night in 9:31.

and found someone he didn't expect to find.

Solavellan Valentine's Day art. :D

Solas has a present for Lavellan for Valentine's Day.

Lovely Solavellan WIP sketch.

Adorable Solavellan Valentine doodle.  ^_^

Awesome art gif of Trespasser Solas holding the orb.

Who is the hottest guy in the Inquisition? :P

And lastly, not art but a WIP of someone's sculpture of Solas' head. (It looks awesome so far! <3 )

Oh wow, that sculpture.

Also, please tell me I'm not the only one who looked at this as some sort of very odd anatomy on first glance. It took me a second to realize those were panels with buttons and not Solas' chest, and the Lavellan looked like she was either leaning back bent, or had tentacles.
