Goddess of the hunt.  She's one of the bigger names of the elven pantheon, so it's probably just a cute ref.

Hmm. I'm waiting on my dinner so I wandered into some other threads that I usually lurk in... only to find posts lamenting this thread as if we're all dead and buried and this is some kind of barren wasteland now... and it was depressing.

So, in the spirit of recovery... flowers anyone?

Also, an update from the twitters... Patrick then went on to call Solas a "guy who speaks half in verse." Not sure if he's being serious at all, but I really can't wait to hear Solas' dialogue (even more so than before). Here's hoping we get those PAX demos and panels on Youtube soon, at least!

Yeah I hope people aren't scared away for good. I wish everyone could get what they wanted. I so wish they would have made Solas BI. I guess we won't know why until we play the game.

To be fair, iambic pentameter isn't that obvious or strange sounding (depending on how much the actor wants to emphasize it, I suppose). It just... has a rhythm to it. To be honest, I have a hard time picking it out unless I say it aloud, and even then...

 

Here, I'll let Mr. Kenneth Branagh (one of the most accomplished Shakespearean speakers I know of) explain it better:

EDIT: To explain, if you don't know anything about iambic pentameter: he's emphasizing the rhythm super heavily at the beginning, then starts speaking it more normally, but that rhythm is still there.

...the Grand Oak Tree came to mind, but I wasn't sure if I should make a comparison.  Cuz I'm pretty sure demon!Solas theory was even less popular than ancient elf!Solas theory.

Yay for Solas!    Cari is really cute, I'm glad freckles will be a thing in the DA:I CC (if I'm remembering right).

 

I wish we could actually have earrings, I have a feeling those won't make it.  Elf ears are perfect for earrings...

And that's one playthrough done, start to finish, full game, no cheats. About 80 hours and by NO MEANS completionist.

Status update: I am a HUGE NERD and cannot read about combat in this book because I'm too busy pulling up weapons stats and poison effects and tactics in the back of my brain. I'm supposed to be paying attention to a fight, but I'm too busy judging their equipment and how they want about it, bahahah. S***. 

 

And yeah, I tried to tell people this thread is doing just fine now in one of those other threads. Hope those who got scared away will check back later.

 

I hope so! I don't want anyone to be afraid to come in here, gosh. Hopefully now that there's a new romance thread, all the scary and derailing can take place in there, instead... [shifty eyes]

I'm with you. I'm still unhappy with it, and I still question the writers. I'm holding out hope that they'll show us the fabled chart so we can see why it is what it is. But regardless, there's nothing that can be done about his gating now... and I'm sure he'll still be a fantastic character, LI or not! The best we can do is try to do highlight to the content that's available to everyone.

OhHhHh... I hear that very clearly, actually! I like it... It's subtle yet almost... melodic? It hits my ear a little like a spoken song... How wonderful.

Man, I am going to be so rapt when he speaks. Talk about hanging on someone's every word. I mean, SONGS ABOUT LORE? Oh, yes. I am there. Talk nerdy to me, Solas. Talk nerdy to me all day long.

It seems that way, though, and it bums me out... Just because our thread got barged into and taken over for a day or two doesn't mean we want anything to do with being angry or fighting... I mean, nobody even really celebrated because we were all too busy being sad for those who were left out... But oh well. What's done is done. And I for one am anxious to return to our regularly scheduled sunshine and unicorns programming and leave all the gross things that were said behind. So, love!
