Trucks to Syria. :P

*snorts*

I'll tell you one thing, there was never any used in the defense of Baghdad, you figure if he actually had em in the vast quantities that people are talking about...a decade later, they would have been used when we were on his doorstep.

And Solas always has plans.

Plan #1 Trust freaky Darkspawn in highheels to unlock the orb

Plan #2 Use orb to some nefarious purpose

Plan#3 Cackle manically

Plan#4 Something something darkside

Plan#5 Something something complete

Plan#6 Bring down the Veil

Plan#7 ???

Plan#8 Profit!

I can't really support Solas there. Calling someone stupid without offering a better alternative is just empty words.

Maybe he does have an alternative. Maybe he's seeing that alternative carried out, even.

But that alternative just happens to include the end of the Veil and the destruction of the world as we know it.

And Solas always has plans. (Though he never claims that they're good plans. ^_^)

Yet somehow they always end in an apocalypse. Solas really needs to stop trying.

Well... smaller apocalypse is better than total one (assuming that Evanuris were indeed close to destroying the whole world).

Chapter 4 of Vir Arla'nehn is up, if anyone's reading.

Lots of Solas in the latest chapter.  LOTS of Solas.  And his dialogue got lots of rewriting so he hopefully sounds more Solas-y, even if he's not matching the actual rhythm that he speaks with in game.

So I just finished and posted the 10th chapter of my ongoing monster of a fic, Slow Arrow, which is basically 50% my Lavellan's story, and 50% a character study of Solas, especially on his early perception of Thedas and its inhabitants, and all of the intersections inbetween, slowburn-romance, grievous wounds, yada yada. But I am stupidly proud of this most recent chapter, of how it has brought many previous themes and foreshadowing full circle, and I just wanted to share it. :D

I have a question: if you choose rift mage specialization is Solas supposed to have special dialogue about that? I remember he had something say when I chose necromancer but he has never said anything about rift mage...

Yes, he does. He has something to say about every mage spec.

As Lynroy said, Solas does comment however it is a little buggy.  I believe you have to talk to Solas after getting the specialisation (obviously) but before completing All New Faded for Her.  Otherwise he won't say anything about any spec.

I always liked Dorian's comments on assassin though hehe.

I know. I just think it's kind of funny that Solas is effectively 2/2 on world-ending apocalypse (as we see, without the Inquisitor, things go quite poorly) and is aiming to go 3/3. That said, I think many people (not direct at you) do not try enough to see the world from Solas's POV. It would take incredible strength of character to be OK with the world as he sees it now.

It's interesting that SOlas doesn't seem to care too much about Wisps, whereas Coles seems to dislike the idea of the Inquisitor pulling wisps from the fade to power their Necromancy.

To those who aren't familiar: Wisps are "would-be" Spirits, they're blank beings with the potential (with time) to become Spirits. By pulling them out of the fade to fuel magic like Necromancy, they're essentially being lobotomized. Their potential to become Spirits are gone (or so he says)

I sometimes kinda wonder if wisps are Fade's equivalents of nugs :D

Anyway, considering that Cole says things like "the plums were already dead, they don't mind" I think he sort of looks at things differently, even if compared to Solas.

True. Though Solas isn't just seeing the world in his own way - he basically created it. Or, as he'd say it - ruined it.

Whether he was forced to create the Veil in order to save the world, or did so for variety of different motives, he still can't leave things as they are. The mixture of guilt, responsibility and horror is just too potent and probably inescapable. In hindsight, even with limited information of what really happened in the past - or how past looked like - it's kind of not surprising that Solas wants to do something about current state of affairs.

He unintentionally created it, which matters. When I say that people don't see things from his perspective, though, I mean, people don't really consider what it would mean to wake up in a world where every single person is like the Tranquil in DA. Knowing you have a means of reserving that, even if it means killing all those people... I think people overestimate how difficult it is to accept that beings like the ones you know will and never can exist again, and the whole world may forever be like what you see now.

What really struck me about that entire exchange after Erimond was when I picked the option that basically said "Killing the old gods is cool, its just the demon summoning that's bad." You'd think Solas would be very concerned with the spirits/demons being summoned and bound and sent at the taint, but he comes back with "The demons don't matter." (paraphrasing). He was more concerned with the OG dragons being killed than he was with the idea of fade denizens being bound to the real world and used. That was a huge red flag for me about both what the Wardens were doing, that there must be some unintended consequence we aren't seeing, and Solas knew WAY more than he was letting on. Also felt like he knew what should be done instead, but he just wouldn't say. Really rang alarm bells on my first PT.

Darkspawn have to modes 1)Find old god so he could leads us and start blight. 2) Kill everything who is not like us. So imagine we kill all old gods no more blight after archdemon is awaken. What's left is only option 2 congratulations darkspawn come from deep roads and we have eternal blight.

That's one theory.

They could also, in theory, gain sentience with no song calling them to the old gods anymore. That's basically the scenario the Architect simulated, right? Then they might split into factions and some of them might decide to say "screw the surface, we're staying here" and inhabit an old titan corpse or something.

Could be either/or, imo. And neither scenario is ideal. But it doesn't necessarily mean there will be an endless Blight.

Considering that the Architect was the one who has (unwittingly) caused the 5th Blight the darkspawn gaining sentience may be as much reason to worry as darkspawn zerging the surface...

Either way Solas - who probably knows things about the Blight we don't, even if he doesn't know the best solution to it - appears to think that killing the remaining Old Gods is a terrible idea.
