I've been seeing a lot of Solas x Sylaise lately, why is that?  Is there something that supports the fact they could be lovers or is it totally just people's head canon?

 

I don't see how it would have worked.  Based on things Solas had said he only seemed to like Mythal.  Besides if he had felt different about Sylaise why would she be locked away with the rest?  I can't see Solas loving someone who was all about keeping slavery and being cruel enough that he would have felt they deserved to be locked away to begin with so unless she was totally different... but if she was different, again, why lock her up?

 

I guess I'm just confused where that one popped up from given that I've seen so much of it.

 

Edit: I'd like to also note I'm not saying I take issue with it or don't like it or whatever, I'm just curious about the origins of it.

Headcanon as far as I can tell. Its' probable that it became popular, because someone wrote a fan fiction or something that became popular for a time, kinda like in case of shipping Cassandra and Abelas.

Can't believe I'm still here.  Usually I only obsess about a game or character for a few weeks, but Solas and DAI has captured my heart. It helps that everyone in this thread is awesome!!

Same. I'm still obsessed over Solas and DA:I even after almost 2 years since the game's been released. 

 

I think it helps that I'm replaying DA:I again on my PS4 and reliving the pain that is Solavellan hell (again). And I haven't even played Trespasser yet! Also, despite the headaches that Tumblr gives me sometimes, being around there still helps fuel my crazy obsession over him and that game.

You know the blond merchant guy in Haven? It's pretty amusing that if the Herald isn't an elf he will refer to the messenger you meet upon waking up as "that knife ear".

But if you're playing Lavellan, he says " that, uh... nice elven lady".

I was shocked when I first played a non-elf and heard that.  Made me not want to save him during the battle at Haven.

Especially when he said that to my Adaar. Like... a qunari is perfectly fine but an elf is all horrible? Am I supposed to trust your racial sensitivity now? You did just make a nasty crack against a non-human to a lady with big horns and a magic staff. Not the brightest lad.

At least he was smart enough to choose his words carefully when speaking to Lavellan. You will have no reason to leave him to die without metagaming.

That said, the Inquisitor still is gonna regret saving him as the ungrateful ass still blames you for losing his job.

As for the Sylaise x Solas things ... who knows?

 

Solas says something like "I know the face of betrayal to the point that I can carve her face" Many people think he was betrayed by a woman (potentially lover) or this  could have been a reference to how Mythal (her face) was betrayed. 

 

Based what little we know, Sylaise was "fine" compared to the other Elvhen gods.

Hard to tell. We don't really know what Old God is and what are Solas thoughts on them, other than he thinks kiling OG is  aterrile idea for some reason. I suppose a lot would also depend on Mythal's goals.

He'd certainly disapprove of leaving the child with Morrigan, but as to whether he'd prefer it over the alternative - the potential obliteration of the OG - it's hard to say, but would be consistent with his views to say that it would be worthwhile to preserve it. Remember what Morrigan says about preserving the Well of Mythal - yet another part of a mystical era that would otherwise be lost.

 

Remember, this is all Mythal's plan. Which, now that I think about it, is kind of interesting - Solas really doesn't like Mythal's presumptive heir. That's gonna be a fun one for him the next time the two meet. 

 

Clearly the "I'm sorry" in the post-credit scene is not foreshadowing over some long-term plot by Mythal, but rather just her saying "Man, you are going to hate the next version of me."

Based what little we know, Sylaise was "fine" compared to the other Elvhen gods. 

Sylaise had "heat" to rival Elgar'nan's light, and breath that rivaled Andruil's spear.   I don't know how that's "fine", since Song to Sylaise makes it pretty clear that she used her dragon form to uphold rivalries, and seems very much the Mean Girl-type villain that Vivienne is modeled after. In my opinion, at least.

 

Also, isn't Sylaise married to June, another god that there is little information about? She gave him a pocket dimension as a gift! I think if people are shipping her with Solas, it's a case of there being so little information about her, that the writer or artist, basically has a blank canvas to work with as far as history and personality, so they are more or less the same as an extra special sparkly OC.

 

If Solas was betrayed by anyone, I think it would have to have been Mythal, for the sheer reason that they were so close. It is the only outside relationship that the devs really built up for him in game, besides Wisdom. I think that Ghilan'nain might be a contender for a betrayal, as well, but again there is very little information of substance, and her closest ties are to Andruil and Dirthamen from the codexes.
