Ok another fandom romance thing I'm confused about, Abelas. Am I missing something? Is he in more scenes or in a book or something? He is in the game such a short time but has a pretty big following.

He wasn't in any of the books and what we see is what we get, so I think it's a case of people filling in the blanks with what they like or want. Which is cool I suppose. My Lavellan wasn't impressed by him, but I'd have liked to learn more. I would hate to think he's completely out even if he did get knifed.

Nope, nothing beyond the Temple of Mythal and related codex entries therein. I personally found him fairly intriguing b/c of that, though, so I understand. I also find Charter interesting, even though really the only characterization I have of her is her convo with scout Pellane in Haven and the epilogue slide saying Leliana is grooming her for successor. (I think she also ends up at Caer Bronach if you liberate that keep, but not sure.) Some minor characters just grab your attention sometimes.

Abelas was interesting, I mean an ancient elf who served Mythal directly.  His perspective on ancient elves would have been fascinating.  Unfortunately due to the possibility of him dying I don't really think BioWare will bring him back in another game.  I have a feeling (backed up by nothing but my own feelings, mind you) that the writers might try to stay away from characters that could be dead so as not to run into more screams of retcons a la Leliana.

It's just a thing Bioware fans like doing, taking characters that weren't given much attention lots of intrigue if they think they have potential, and hoping Bioware will make them full blown characters in the future. It's kinda cute, like rescuing lost puppies, lol.

 

Abelas didn't interest me much. What he said about the elves however, did.

Abelas is one of those side characters that BioWare does well, and fans sometimes latch onto. Some found him intriguing or hot, or both. I think he's interesting, and of course, gives us something once we have a fuller picture of Solas, but my hope is we meet more ancient elves or learn more.

Bioware makes us obsessed over characters who won't return or will only have small roles. Or die.

So I was going over some of my old save files and encountered these two beauties.

 

So I was wandering around in the Exalted Plains after Solas left in grief, not realizing I was wearing the Token of the Pack Master. Since I didn't know at the time it's supposed to make wolves non-hostile to the party (in fact, it rarely does), I was deeply surprised to find random packs we encountered not only friendly, but sometimes helpful. One pair of wolves in particular kind of followed our party from a distance, rushed to helped us fight every battle, then kind of followed from a distance again.

 

Naturally, I brought them to heel and took some pictures. (Sorry, they're a little blurry thanks to my lacklustre graphics card.)

Hopefully this will come in handy when we encounter Solas again next game.

Just going out later for a special lunch with my mom, that's it. I still owe her so much money since she bought this computer for me back in December. I probably won't get any presents for years. hehehehe. That's fine. I'm so happy I can play DA:I on this monster all modded up.
