How am I supposed to procrastinate and not study for my exam when the forums are so slow! Post pics and fanart, write crazy theories about this, share your character's most important /funniest/weirdest moment with Solas, anything! Please don't make me study, it's so mind-numbingly dull I might lose what little wits I have left!

I said I wanted to save the last of my wits, not kill them of completely and with no hope of them ever regenerating!  :P  ;)

I actually venture outside the Blanket Fort regularly (what can I say, I'm a brave bunny!) so I'm used to the madness displayed in other threads... I barely raise my eyebrow at even the weirdest topics anymore. Would never dream of participating in it though. *shudder*

Haha, a mere suggestion!

I sometimes type in a response, only to shake my head, laugh and delete it. Thinking how futile it would be for me to participate. They only end up reiterating the same discussions over and over again anyway.

In any case, as for an attempt to alleviate your current state of mind. I hereby shamelessly plug another kissy-face pic. Do enjoy. ;)

*Sigh* Seeing hair like the one your character has almost makes me wish I had played DA:I on PC instead of PS4...

Haha yes. It's my favourite hairstyle to date. I only wish Bioware will take note and give us more like that instead of 50 shades of buzzcut next time. So we can all enjoy nice hair.
For now though I happily enjoy the creations of others as modding hair still looks too daunting for me to attempt. Though I wish I could. I'm a hairdresser and have been dying to create some of the styles I've done for several weddings and also some braids I do from time to time.

I still don't understand their claim that long hair is too hard to do. Dragon's Dogma was a PS3 game that had long hair options AND IT MOVED WHILE YOU RAN.

Two words: different engine.

Plus: different graphics. If you tried to apply hair mechanics they used in a PSP exclusive (even in recent PC release you can see how very dated the graphics are) they're not going to look good at all. Many DD hair aren't really better than strands painted on pretty much flat sheet.

That's the point. Different engine. A more powerful system is expected to expand the boundaries of animation, not the opposite.

Honestly I'd prefer it if they solve the clipping issues ... THEN they can move on to making hair move.  The clipping drives me nuts which is why I tend to use the shorter (but not buzz cut) hair styles.

That's assuming that a different engine, no matter how powerful, has all the modules in it to actually run superior graphics. And as far as we know BW team had to create many things and modules for the engine from the scratch - like quadrupedal creatures. How them adapting and creating new things for an engine that has never ran an RPG (or nothing of this scale, really) *and* the necessity to scale many things down for PS3 and Xbox360 has affected the production of hair is unknown, but considering that great hair didn't materialize, it's not that hard to assume that there might have been obstacles on the way.

At this point I consider clipping a lesser evil - like... we will probably see clipping happen for quite some time, no matter of advancements in graphics :/ So long as clipping isn't egregious or they at least make an attempt to cleverly mask it somehow, I'd be happy.

Although I don't mind clipping I can understand why it would drive someone up the wall. The only thing I'm disappointed with is that they could have achieved a lot of beautiful braided hairstyles that gave the illusion of long hair without clipping. I love braided up dos and I really can't understand why they only thought to put one in.

Clipping can be fixed!  Don't you dare tell me it can't!  *throws temper tantrum*

Seriously though, I can accept it to an extent.  Honestly though it seems sometimes they just don't even try.  One day though .. one day clipping will be a thing of the past.  Probably when I'm long dead.

The braids would probably clip through helmets, hats and hoods though.  =p

And really?  You'd give up some of those awesome buzz cuts for silly braids?  (yes, sarcasm)

Whoa, now you have me wondering if the one braided style clipped through helmets. I never wear them though so I'm not sure; must test this and find out lol.

Yeah, the worst 'offense' I can think of is Briala's bun clipping right through her mask. Still, a lot depends on deisgn of a helmet - plus, the usual shtick with hairstyles and helmets is that they remove hairstyle entirely and replace it with helmet. There are helmets and hoods in Inquisition that do just that.

I think elven ears clip through the mage hood.  I may be remembering incorrectly though.

That's something I hate about the hoods in SWTOR.  The hoods that pull down far enough you can't really tell your char is bald under it unless you really try to look but some of the hoods it's so painfully obvious that they completely removed the hair.

I hate it when games do design shortcuts like that.

Here's to hoping for something better in DA4 ... because THERE WILL BE A DA4!!  Even if they haven't announced it yet  *pout*.

No, you are not mistaken. I am quite sure I remember seeing Solas' ears poking through his hood, at times.

Speaking of mages, hoods, and elf-ear-like projections, it struck me as odd that the Tevinters, including Gereon Alexius, Crassius Servis, and Lucanus seem to like hoods with elf-ear-like details sewn onto the sides. I wonder if there is any reason for that?  It seemed especially odd since the Tevinters really tend to look down on elves as slaves. Why would they want any of their fashions to mimic the people they hold in such low esteem?

I noticed that they began poking through hoods (in Solas case at least) after one of the patches.

Of course there's a reason for that - as much as Tevenes sneer at elves, they still base a lot of their culture on elvhen one. Weekes even goes as far as saying (in recent interview with Biofan) that when Vints arrived at the continent, they didn't build as much as they just spray-painted elvhen cities and monuments they found and pretty much left it at that.

It's basically Elvenhan 2.0. And I wouldn't be surprised if there were more intriguing connections with old Elvenhan we may find out about in DA4...

Plus... well... if people find something works or looks cool enough they will adapt it either way. We've seen it happen IRL as well.

I also wouldn't be surprised if 'elf ears' help with magic casting or something, since I have a sneaking suspicion that they're so pointy and stuff because they basically work like Fade antennas :D There's even some vague confirmation of that in Cole's comment to Sera:
