To be honest, even though I'd like my characters to have long hair from time to time, I'd be even more interested in having hair that morphs from loose into bun/updo/ponytail/braid when called for. As I do think it'd be more believable if my characters tied up their hair when going to battle. (Like in Tera online when the characters have high collared armor on, I've mentioned it a few times somewhere else)
But that's all wishful thinking, I'd rather they first practice with getting their hair to look good in the first place. The only acceptable vanilla hairstyles are the bun, the bob and the ponytail. And they're really dull. The rest of the hair options that're not a buzzcut, are ghastly. Massive foreheads, sideburns and receding hairlines is -not- something I want to use. And then there's the disgusting looking textures of some of the hairstyles. I am still baffled at how some hobbyist could churn out a better texture with the limited possibilities of modding this game than an actual developer.
And don't get me started on Qunari hair. Preposterous.
So yeah, let them create some nice looking updo's such as the hair I'm using now. So we can at least have the illusion of long hair, before we start to worry about actual long hair. Babysteps.
Edit: Some other benefit of modding, I can actually assign different hairstyles for the different races. Which is something I would be up for as well in the next game. More race and gender specific hair. So that not everyone and their mother wear the same hairstyle as your character.
