Sure, here it is: http://dragonage.wik...es_of_Segrummar

Specifically this part: "Terrible, to sacrifice one's own child with a lie. I preyed on perfectly trusting faith, but how could I explain my desperation? The Deep Roads wind in deceitful spirals, concealing the sigil from casual observance. I could not discern its true pattern until I stood in the Fade and gazed down upon the vast malevolent engraving. Its artist remains unknown, but its horrifying intent was all too clear - as was my necessity. I only wish it had not cost you, my only child. I could not build the locked barriers that would carve the marks and break the sigil. You alone could save us all, but only by destroying yourself. And I let you do it. Forgive me."

What is interesting is that someone indeed managed to break the sigil. I mean, the last note on the gates certainly implies that. Valta tells us that the Titan has stirred because of the Breach opening, but perhaps that particular Titan stirring (we don't hear of any other earthquakes anywhere else) was possible only because someone has either broke or weakened the sigil?

Whops I edited but now I see you've found it for me .

I'll just post it here:

Interestingly, I don't think I noticed before but the person claimed it was able to be seen from the fade - they must not have been a Dwarf. Either it's very old (potentially pre-veil old where there could be a chance that Dwarves were different and could see or be a part of the Fade) or it was an Elf/Human/Qunari or something that had access to the Fade. And were in the Deep Roads of all places.

Oh and about the earthquakes, there have been some in Vol Dorma where it unearthed an Eluvian in an Elven ruin.

Map (it's rather close to Weisshaupt..) -

We know the elves were in the Deep Roads before the Veil.  Also, I know in game lore - or more specifically dwarven lore - says the dwarves built the Deep Roads.  What if they didn't?  Or what if they didn't build all of them?  The elves *were* down there building things as seen by the statues in Trespasser.  It's entirely possible that elves built at least this section and created this sigil for some unknown, yet apparently malicious, purpose.

Just like the caverns the Elves were trying to collapse in a hurry. Maybe they made the sigils to keep the titans in check (or 'make it forget'). The Dwarves could've forgotten that part of their history easily enough, considering there's no official mention of Titans in the memories (of Orzammar at least).

Having a read of the wiki, it seems the last time the titan from Descent woke up was before Arlathan fell.. did Arlathan fall before or after the veil? Also, it would've been really interesting to know what part of the Deep Roads we were in during Trespasser.

If I had to make a guess I would say that Arlathan fell after the Veil.  I imagine it went something like:  Veil -> elven empire disintegrates -> humans make contact with elves -> Tevinter empire forms and takes over the remnants of the elven empire (aka destruction of Arlathan).  As much of a mess as elven history is, there seems to be a strong correlation in the elven mind of "meeting humans = elves growing old" so it's likely that it was some years after the Veil was formed that elves met humans and then realised they were aging and that connection stuck in their minds.

Well we do know that Heidrun Thaig wasn't featured or mentioned only in Descent. Apparently there was one of Archdemon's prison somewhere nearby.

According to the World of Thedas, Vol. 1, elves first started noticing the quickening in -2850 Ancient. Arlathan fell to Tevinter in -975 Ancient. So... according to human history, Arlathan fell after the Veil came into being.

But Abelas mentions that Arlathan's fall was just really the Tevinters scavenging the carcass of the elven empire. I suspect that Abelas and any other surviving ancient elves would pin the beginning of the fall of Arlathan/ the empire to the point when the Veil was raised, or perhaps even before that, to the time when the Evanuris started doing whatever they did that provoked Solas to put up the Veil in the first place.

I sometimes wonder if there might have been a significant delay between Solas' creation of the Veil and the elvhen noticing the quickening. Since they're so long-lived, it could have been centuries before any elvhen noticed that they were aging. I'm not sure that we'll ever know for sure.   :)

Alright that's good to know. I found some more info:

The titan woke up at -1170 according to Paragon / King Orseck, which was the same year he moved the capital from Kal-Sharok to Orzammar because of 'internal turmoil caused in the Imperium following the Archon's death'.

Heidrun was a lyrium mining location, and I wonder if Tevinter requested the Dwarves to pull up lyrium by the bucket load from the titan since they'd just (25 years prior) learnt how to become dreamers from the Elves (and learnt how to use lyrium to enter the Fade). That could be an answer to why all those Old God statues are down there.

I have a drawing that I want to share but my cat won't let me finish it. He keeps pressing keys and messing me up. I was drawing with "darken mode" on all night and wondering why it wasn't cooperating. >_<

Edit: Here it is!

This started out as a blob and I got carried away with it. So...shading practice!  :wizard:

I was also naughty and didn't use a reference so the shading and proportions are probably really bad. @_@;

It could have been.  I suppose it would all depend on how "old" the elves were physically when they stopped aging and how severe the disconnect from the Fade was.  As in, was it a slow fading (no pun intended) of the connection which could presumably slow the aging process or was it a sudden severing which would probably mean they started aging right away.  One could also assume that adult elves would be in their physical prime (early to mid 20s, early to mid 30s? to put it in human terms) at the time.  So I guess it would depend on how abrupt of a disconnect to the Fade they experienced.  Elves of current Thedas age at the same rate as humans.  Do dwarves also age at the same rate?  And qunari?

Just had a silly/funny thought. You know how some people are horrified when they notice their first grey hair? What if the Elvhen took it as badly? Maybe Solas is going grey and shaves his head because he's quickening and he doesn't want the reminder of his mortality every time he looks at a reflective surface. ;)

I imagine if Solas or Abelas haven't drastically aged then the rest of them wouldn't have.

I can't really find anything but contradictions on lifespans:

If I remember David Gaider answered in a post that the life expectancy for humans in Thedas was approximately the same as medieval Europe. Elves, even Dalish elves live the same length as humans (There is no evidence dalish elves live any longer than city elves, I think it was outright denied in said post) and Qunari have slightly longer average lifespans due to having better medical care. I'm not sure about the Dwarves.

Edit: In retrospect I think said post was by Mary Kirby

But elves DID start aging so obviously the rest of them did.  Abelas and the other guardians "sleep" (whether in uthenera or some other type of suspended animation) unless they're needed to defend the temple.  Solas most likely retained a very strong connection to the Fade but again, he was "sleeping" as well until recently.

Edit to add:  Maybe the elves already alive did not age but the ones born afterwards didn't stop aging after they matured.  That's a possibility too.

Yeah sorry I didn't explain what I meant properly :P. I mean they didn't age drastically like: veil is down - everyone over 120 dies instantly. I wouldn't be surprised if Abelas and Solas are aging when they are out of uthenera.

Oh!  Yeah I don't think elves who had been around awhile all of a sudden went "oops I drank from the wrong cup" a la Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  That would be a bit drastic lol.

My first PT was a mage Trevelyan Cullenmance. I'm now doing the egg on Nightmare. NO REGRETS.

I was all about the meh romance and was a shameless flirt until this scene. He looked ultra-manly next to my PC and I couldn't shake it off.

Definite swag. I was somewhat weirded and fascinated by it. I've always thought him creepy on my Trevelyan. Totally changes perspective when you have a Lavellan, the camera angles make her look so petite compared to him.

Plus the flirting in Haven. I chuckled about his observation of her side benefits.
