Heyyyyy I know this has been discussed before but I wanted to point out something I noticed today and haven't seen anyone mentioning.

5cDYMtOa.jpg

So we all agree this is a flaming wolf head above a rook (chess)/tower, we also know Solas' default end-game card is The Tower

tumblr_ngecir99nx1rfbiiuo1_500.jpg

What you may not know is The Tower in the original drawing of tarot cards is not just a tower, it's a tower on FLAMES

Spoiler

That's an imagery you see in 90% of The Tower renditions, it's usually the tower with flames (on top) and two people falling.

The Tower shows a tall tower pitched atop a craggy mountain. Lightning strikes and flames burst from the building’s windows. People are seen to be leaping from the tower in desperation, wanting to flee such destruction and turmoil. The Tower signifies darkness and destruction on a physical scale, as opposed to a spiritual scale.

Tower Tarot Card Meanings

A Tower experience is any experience that shakes the foundation of your current sense of security and/or forces you to question your strongly-held beliefs, perceptions, attitudes and behaviours. It may be a divorce, death of a loved one, financial failure, health problems or job loss, or any event that penetrates to the core of your inner being, affecting you spiritually, mentally and physically. It is often descriptive of a major upheaval, disruption, emergency or crisis, and is likely to bring chaos in the aftermath of such an event.

...

The most important aspect of the Tower is that with any destruction there comes creation. Thus, the Tower card represents an awakening and is about inspiration, freedom, reality and the release from bondage. It is a truth and honesty card that comes as a bolt of lightning to you through a shocking and impactful life event. It represents a necessary experience that forces you to get out of your comfort zone and to grow beyond your present level. The sudden destruction of the Tower represents the immediacy of change, and the often disorienting effects of that change

Keywords

going through sudden change

experiencing upheaval
having plans disrupted
being surprised
undergoing a crisis
having routines shaken up

being in chaos

The fact the tower in the sketch isn't broken and that the wolf head is floating there, on FIRE, makes me feel that the wolf is a threat, a threat to the structure of the tower, and like the lightning bolt he shall strike and make everything fall apart, for the better or worse...

The Tower is as close to "burn in chaos" as you can get imagery-wise XD

Anyhow, I don't want to get too hopeful but since E3 is next month I'm kind of hoping for an announcement

Even if we don't get one, I think it's safe to assume this book is about DA4 or at least Dragon Age in general in regards of Solas/Fen'Harel.

Sorry for the wall of text  ;)

All I will say is that both Patrick Weekes and Lukas Kristjanson neither confimed nor denied my "it's a birthday candle" theory. xD

But yes, that's some pretty good logic right thar. it's interesting that you pointed out the two people falling -- makes me wonder if we are going to have a choice to save one or the other? Perhaps it's like... Solas or _____? Kind of like in the Fade... but more impactful.

A birthday candle! Of course! XD

That thought of "save one or the other" gives me chills because my mind defaults to "save Solas or the Inquisitor"

I think they should have been on Bull as well, could have had some banter like this;

Inky: Can I ask about?

Bull: Oh, these... why you thinking of getting them done?

Inky: Hadn't thought about it, was just curious?

Bull: Well if you ever do, I know a guy in the barracks who does them. Free bit of advice though, don't get them if you're shirtless and an Archer / close to Archers a lot. I had this friend in Par Vollen, he was drawing an arrow one day, it caught... and well, you can figure out the rest.

Inky: Ouch! Was he badly hurt?

Bull: Nah, he was fine after a week or two. But the world... the world lost some great pecs that day.

Edit: Ah, I don't know if I want to find a top Solas that includes piercings if people are worried about NSFW strikes. Here, have a mental picture instead, such as Solas with a piercing he refers to as "The Dread Wolf". Where it's located I'll leave in your hands... you're welcome.

Hmmmmm, pierced Solas. AHEM! Yes, ahh...what were we talking about? Piercings. Right, you know...I'd love it if some day in the future, we get the option of having piercings ourselves.

I used to like it. But my country usually sucks. They seem to be intent on sending boring ballads at best or at worst, weird songs no one but certain Dutch people get. For years the winning songs have been up-tempo and I don't understand why they fail to see that. So I stopped watching years ago. Also, I'd like it better if every country sang in their own language again. I love hearing different languages. I often look up multi-language disney songs on youtube. :P

I have fallen into the void of reading fanfics all night long, send help..

I'm pretty sure I saw someone's pic from the forums on Archive, maybe it was Kadan? The Lavellan with black lipstick and blonde hair I think..

I want more lore.. I heard World of Thedas sort of sets up stuff that will be relevant in the future, and there is a section about Tevinter in WoT2 that I sorta skimmed. I wonder if that'd be worth reading..

If we're going to Tevinter I wonder if that will mean we're gonna miss out on the Tirashan. It's between Orlais and Tevinter/Nevarra but to the west more. I wanna know more about the Forgotten Ones, and Dirthamen of course (hail Dirthamen, drosophila - wherever you are ;)). I'm curious about the name 'Anaris' still, and I'm rather sure it means 'years' or something to do with time since 'bellanaris' means eternity ('bel' meaning many). Then we've got the password to Fen'Harel's sanctuary: 'Revas vir-anaris', which is basically 'freedom through the way of Anaris', or literally 'freedom way of years'. Anaris isn't capitalized though so it could just be basically 'freedom forever' (>_>)..

I'm starving for lore, as you can see.

We do know, from Weekes himself that they've introduced eluvian-hopping as a set-up for the future of the franchise.

You know... removing the vallaslin isn't a simple matter of fixing a mistake. Lavellan has to be ready for the fact that she isn't Dalish anymore.

Any clan, any Dalish elf that hears about what she did will consider it the same as abandoning her identity and no longer acknowledge her as one of their own.

As if that would be the case over something so simple.

One of the themes the game ran with is how you become something other than who you are to the world, even if you ultimately remain the same person you have always been. Lavellan would be considered forever changed even if they did keep the vallaslin. Same as any other Inquisitor. And when things are about to get very real? Your biggest issue is some tattoos? Then you have fun burning in the chaos, the rest of us are gonna go figure **** out.

:o horay! That's good news! But it could also be a pain not knowing where we are. I remember Blackwall said we should return to the Elven ruins (of Fen'Harel) at night to see if we could tell where we were by looking at the stars. Was a good idea but it didn't get to night :S. I tried matching the stars at the Qunari fortress and they did match up to those in the Hissing Wastes but I still couldn't make sense of it..

The Qunari (previously Elven) fortress was backed against a sea. I'd have to look at my post history to see if I figured out which direction it was.

The sort of change you speak of is completely vague and has nothing to do with what I'm actually talking about.

Regardless, it is something Lavellan will have to deal with sooner or later.

Considering that we know description of Tirashan elves (Sentinel-like and wearing red vallaslin) I think we'd be able to tell from their presence that we *could* be in Tirashan.

Plus, you know, I think Inquisitor will likely do their homework and won't ignore Leliana's reports on strange elves (that she mentions them in Trespasser is a pretty clear sign for me that we're going to meet at least some of them in future titles) and will likely try and research where eluvians can go, or where they have landed, be it by star position, geography, magic, architecture or whatever....

Well. As I said. Have fun wringing your wrists about some ink, I got a world to go save. Again.

Which, if everyone survives that and things turn out passably okay, it's quite entirely just a little maybe likely the rest of the Dalish will become intimately aware that they were Really Very Wrong about history, and they'll possibly be inclined to have good reason to change their own tune. So, essentially? Shrug.

She has to deal that she's with "human" Inquisition long before she can remove the vallaslin. Don't forget that she has to prove her intentions to Hawen, be it to gain clan's trust or recruit a single clan member. Even when we chat with Loranil he's like "the Dalish are talking a lot about you!" and Lavellan's response is quite concerned, since she/he's skeptical about it being a good thing. What's more, when we chat with Josephine in Haven we can point out that elves may not be happy that one of them has become a figurehead for different religion and people.

While the Valasllin removal might be making them even more controversial, it's obvious that whether they remove their vallaslin or not, they'd never be able to just return to the Dalish - they have changed, and perception of them has changed, even more so after Trespasser.

Isn't Anaris the name of one of the Forgotton Ones? The one who fought Andruil and was tricked by Fen'Harel in the lore?

I find that interesting, and could be a hint about who Anaris was, or what he was god of (time?).

It's a little weird, because vir means "way or path" right? So freedom by way of Anaris?

Edit: it probably doesn't mean "time" since the elven word for time is "melana" but could come from "annar" for years. So Anaris could have been god of the year? Or passage of time, or something like that. Immortals would want to forget such a god I'm sure!

I'm clinging to the 'Inquisitor' part.  No matter what you do at the end of Trespasser the Inquisitor's story is over.  That doesn't mean the character wont return.
