I'm clinging to the 'Inquisitor' part.  No matter what you do at the end of Trespasser the Inquisitor's story is over.  That doesn't mean the character wont return.

I didn't have issues with "Inquisitor" I have issues with the second line :(

I mean, yeah Inqi could return.. as an NPC that you have no control over whatsoever and does everything wrong just like Hawke did.

I really want a dual protag or at least something like in Witcher 3, I don't want to "conclusively tie off" Inqi as a protag :<

Well. As I said. Have fun wringing your wrists about some ink, I got a world to go save. Again.

Which, if everyone survives that and things turn out passably okay, it's quite entirely just a little maybe likely the rest of the Dalish will become intimately aware that they were Really Very Wrong about history, and they'll possibly be inclined to have good reason to change their own tune. So, essentially? Shrug.

My apologies. It seems I was interrupting the conversation between you and whomever said the Inquisitor should save the world and face the Dalish at the same time.

Do tell him/her I said hello. <3

She has to deal that she's with "human" Inquisition long before she can remove the vallaslin. Don't forget that she has to prove her intentions to Hawen, be it to gain clan's trust or recruit a single clan member. Even when we chat with Loranil he's like "the Dalish are talking a lot about you!" and Lavellan's response is quite concerned, since she/he's skeptical about it being a good thing. What's more, when we chat with Josephine in Haven we can point out that elves may not be happy that one of them has become a figurehead for different religion and people.

While the Valasllin removal might be making them even more controversial, it's obvious that whether they remove their vallaslin or not, they'd never be able to just return to the Dalish - they have changed, and perception of them has changed, even more so after Trespasser.

I don't see how you're disagreeing with me. All you're telling me is that the situation was already bad, which doesn't mean it can't get worse.

And worse doesn't mean it is the same. It means... well, worse. As for being unable to return or not wanting to return, I see no reason why.

The initial issues you mentioned aren't enough to make it impossible to approach them and Lavellan certainly has family and friends she misses from the clan.

I have fallen into the void of reading fanfics all night long, send help..

I'm pretty sure I saw someone's pic from the forums on Archive, maybe it was Kadan? The Lavellan with black lipstick and blonde hair I think..

I want more lore.. I heard World of Thedas sort of sets up stuff that will be relevant in the future, and there is a section about Tevinter in WoT2 that I sorta skimmed. I wonder if that'd be worth reading..

If we're going to Tevinter I wonder if that will mean we're gonna miss out on the Tirashan. It's between Orlais and Tevinter/Nevarra but to the west more. I wanna know more about the Forgotten Ones, and Dirthamen of course (hail Dirthamen, drosophila - wherever you are ;)). I'm curious about the name 'Anaris' still, and I'm rather sure it means 'years' or something to do with time since 'bellanaris' means eternity ('bel' meaning many). Then we've got the password to Fen'Harel's sanctuary: 'Revas vir-anaris', which is basically 'freedom through the way of Anaris', or literally 'freedom way of years'. Anaris isn't capitalized though so it could just be basically 'freedom forever' (>_>)..

I'm starving for lore, as you can see.

HAIL DIRTHAMEN!

(thanks so much for thinking of me)!

Using cheek to avoid the rest of the comment isn't particularly helpful. But you do you, I guess. Still doesn't diminish how things are about to change, and change big, and whatever Lavellan or Dalish clans might think about tattoos and having them removed now, that will be going out the window before long. Fen'Harel, the Evanuris, Mythal, whatever other great evil is lurking out there are about to laugh in the face of everything the whole of Thedas has ever believed. Your Maker put up the Veil? Nah. Fen'Harel played a cruel prank on benevolent gods? Nah. Mythal is a loving protector and a mother figure? Bahahaha. Have fun, folks.

I can only see the vallaslin being an issue if the game uses that in deciding whether clans will help Lavellan in the fight. But, as Midnight pointed out, the Dalish were already wary of Lavellan just for being part of a human religious organization, and are often portrayed of being wary of anyone outside of their own clan. Tattoos are just window dressing at that point. You are, or were, the Inquistor. Whatever you were before, you are irrevocably changed now.

Er, I'm not saying to "disagree" with you - what I do is point out that the vallaslin is a minuscule matter on top of everything else. I've also never said that after all this it's impossible for her to return to the clan (though we were not really talking about returning, but interacting with the Dalish overall...), only that they'd be changed either way. But if everything else that happened to Lavellan wouldn't deter her family and friends (wait till she admits that the Dread Wolf took her!) neither would the vallaslin removal.

Honestly I don't think the vallaslin removal will have much of anything to do with the games going forward.  Why?  It's not in the Keep.  Unless they add that choice at a later date then as it stands right now it really doesn't matter at all.  To anyone.  Except headcannon.

Edit to add:  Regardless, it's only those female Lavellans who romanced Solas AND chose to have the vallaslin removed that would face any issues.  That's probably such a small subset of playthroughs I doubt BioWare would even bother with it.  It may be a thing *IF* the Inquisitor comes back as either a playable character or NPC.

Revas vir-anaris.. unintentional kek kek there Solas, the way to freedom from Evanuris domination is through time and years.. create the Veil and sunder elves from their magicawesomespecialness and make them - mortal

That or him and his rebel cabal comprehended the probable consequences of making such a barrier.. aging and mortality. they solemnly acknowledge this fact with their secret treehouse club handshake.

I want to practice art. I am inspired (by Solas' face hhhnnngggg). I didn't sketch anything since like 2nd grade because there was a boy named Christopher who drew a batman with complicated shading, and I gave up.

But it's really hard and there are all these teenagers on the internet who are leagues ahead and know all the photoshop buttons. I guess a digital tablet is what most people use now? I just have mechanical pencils and printer paper. Well I suppose I should stick to learning basic shapes with just pencil and paper

It will take so long though :( :(

I'm pretty sure they will be sticking with Frostbite for the next few games, including the hypothetical DA4. So it will likely look similar to DAI.

Good because it would be sad for Solas to be visually re-invented like Alistair was in successive games 0_-

I know this who Dalish are Jews/Gypsies thing is popular but I don't get it.  Personally when I think Dalish I get a much stronger comparison to the Native American tribes.  Strong connection to the Earth, people start arriving to North America, Europeans specifically come and f*ck everything up, who doesn't get killed off by disease is killed off in mass genocide, then they get pushed into "reservations" which if you've ever been to one they are essentially slums, where they still live today and everyone just accepts it, they also are still mistreated in many ways

The elves are an allegory of PoC who are constantly being oppressed by humans in power. Ain't that a *****?

Unfortunately, many peoples can relate to the elves. The city elves were inspired by the Jews living in European ghettos.

For the most part, at least in my part of the world. Their medieval experience was quite different, which Dragon Age draws from.

The writers drew a lot of inspiration from a number of sources, which I think is why DA is so good.

True about the mortality: there's that phrase in Where the Willows Wail, 'Tel’enara bellana' (we lost eternity). Ana must be like the root word for eternity/years. Even malana means time.

When the password starts off 'Ar-melana dirthavaren', I think it's saying 'my mortality is a promise' - because the ar (I) is connected to melana, which would make it like 'my own time'.

Then Solas says while removing the vallaslin 'Ar lasa mala revas' which is really interesting because malana is time. So mala (which means 'your' on it's own) may be derived from malana so that's to say that 'oneself' and 'time' (mortality) were used similarly. It's like he was saying then 'I give you mortal freedom', and I wonder if that's what he said when removing the Elvhen vallaslin of his followers.

Another thing the sentinel says is 'Nuvenas mana helanin, dirth bellasa ma' which could mean 'want long past revolution/war, speak how many given to you' (assuming lasa = give/grant). That could imply, 'if you want the revolution, tell me if you're mortal'. Granted, I'm thinking in Spanish (and Latin maybe?) because if saying your age it's literally translated as 'I have (this many) years'. Or the 'dirth bellasa ma' could basically be 'tell me the (secret) things'..

And to finish it, the Elven under the pillar in Skyhold that Solas 'assisted' to translate - Melanada him sa'miras fena'taldin (All time is transformed into the final/first death) which I think would be 'time led to our mortal deaths'.

Technically the elves are PoC cause think about it: Why do they made elves the only non-humans hated by humans just because they're elves? It's way beyond coincidence.
