"Dorian: Locking people into cages isn't the answer.

Vivienne: Naturally. First we execute those who will not submit, then we deal with the rest."

Yeah.

How very Qunari of her. Wynne has a similar attitude in Origins when she talks about finding fulfillment in duty.

Sad Lavellan comic by remington-zero.

I love that comic, but yeah it hits the feels pretty damn well. :(

A bit off topic, but I'm going to be part of a group of people playing the Game of Thrones RPG and I totally need to have a heraldry. I have absolutely no idea what it should look like, but then I remembered that there are a lot of creative people here in the Blanket Fort that might be able to help me. So, anyone have any suggestions? As much as I would like to have the wolf I do think that symbol already belongs to the Starks, but if there is some other way to incorporate DA symbols more or less obviously then I am totally game!  :D

I think you need to think about your character and their background first. What part of Westeros are they from? Location has a lot to do with house icons. The houses in the north typically have fiercer banners, houses from the south usually have a more symbolic banner.

That's the thing, the GM is not sure in what part he wants to place us... last I heard he seemed inclined to place us somewhere in or around the Riverlands. I have to admit, I know very little about that region so if he does pick it I will feel a bit lost! Hmmm, I guess my house name should reflect my heraldry or vice versa. I would so love to sneak in something that is DA related, but griffons are way to obvious and doesn't really seem to fit the style of the Riverlands. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, I wonder if I can sneak an egg in there somewhere...  ;)

It shouldn't matter where the campaign is set as long as you have good reasoning for your character to be there. Like you could be from Dorne where you serve a family which made its fortune on the spice trade, and you were originally sent to the river lands as a trade emissary/distributor.

But if you really want to be from the river lands I would suggest the dalish heraldry with the bow and arrow (a house which was founded on its excellent hunting and archery skills ). Another option could be the circle symbol which you can give new meaning.

Oh and I would steer clear of mabari because of house clegane.

Isn't house Clegane also in the Riverlands, though? Or is my GoT geography way off?

If the RP is the concern you are talking about, you can be associated with House Clegane and not be forced to RP a total jerk. I mean, almost no one in Westeros has managed it to this point (with Sandor coming the closest), I think, but I'm sure its possible. There's a first time for everything?

What about reflecting on something like Starkhaven. It is one of the largest city states in the Free Marches, and sits along the main waterway, the Minantar River.

Here is the heraldry: http://dragonage.wik...eraldry_DA2.png

Of course, you can easily look into other major cities/regions along major rivers. Check out this page for a list of Thedas rivers, and their relations to such areas/places. http://dragonage.wik.../Minanter_River (btw, this is a redirect link, as it will take you to the Rivers page on the wiki.)

Just a thought. ;)

House clegane should be located near Casterly rock because they serve the Lannisters and were promoted to noble status by the Lannisters.
And I think that it really was just the mountain who was a jerk. Based on the story about their dad he seemed like a respectable guy. And sandor was a regular kid until his brother burned his face off for playing with a toy.

I think Gregor also drowned their sister or something? I did not mean to malign Sandor's father (or apparently the other decent members of the family), though. My mistake.

I'm not so certain she was being facetious.  Nice things don't happen when she becomes Divine and people object.  She can and will kill people who get in her way.

And yeah, Wynne never advocated executing people - that I recall at any rate.

I just occurred to me... do you guys remember that Trespasser epilogue slide where Lavellan searches for Solas in the Fade?

I wonder how that could make sense when Lavellan is a rogue/warrior. Only mages can retain their consciousness when they dream.

Wynne still is a little better. She doesn't dismiss those who want freedom as mere "malcontents".

No, I meant Wynne is also spouting like a qunari when she says her "duty" line. "You're free to choose to obey" and all that. You can be happy where you are and do you duty (like a good qunari) or you can protest and have your mind destroyed (like anyone who's not a good qunari).

I also don't think Vivienne was anything but serious with her line. She's that type of person.

The Anchor gave even non-mages a very strong connection to the Fade and allowed them to retain their awareness in dreams.  It's possible that connection persisted even after the Anchor was gone as we don't know what lasting effects (if any) could remain.

I don't recall which line of Wynne's you're referencing or the context so I can't speak about that.

Unfortunately, the wiki page only shows the Warden's lines for her dialogues so I can't copy/paste. Essentially, it's one of the conversations about being a Warden, when she tells you how she hated Circle life as a teenager but eventually came to accept it. Her point is you can rage against the choices life hands you and always be unhappy, or you can suck it up and "find fulfillment in duty." That's where the qunari part comes in.

Speaking of raging...am I the only one appalled by the amount of ads now on the wiki?  I can hardly get pages to load there's so much crap there.
