Do any of you wonder whether the dev note about Flemeth and Solas was actually planted as a red herring because BioWare knows their fans will dig through EVERYTHING to find out what they can about what might happen in future games?
I've wondered this ever since I learned about it. Do you think they are that devious? ^-^
Nah, they're put there for the people making the game, as a reference, and 99% of players are never going to know about, or see any of those kinds of notes. A good chunk of players don't even exhaust dialogue options, use certain characters or even finish the game. It takes a certain type of fan to dig that deep and search so obsessively for clues (which is not a dig, because I am one of those fans!).
I do think that the producers and lead writer are careful about who does and doesn't get access to the "Deep Lore", but anything within those unrevealed parts of the story are also subject to change and alteration, depending on the vagaries of the production process. Like how the whole "Temple of Mythal" segment got cut from the cancelled DA2 Exalted March expansion and pasted onto to the end of DA: I. So when David Gaider says to take whatever you datamine from the dev notes with a grain of salt, it's because he's been part of the behind the scenes process. It's messy. Things get changed around, projects cancelled, storylines and characters taken out, rewritten, reconfigured, expanded on, cut and saved for other projects or DLC.
The only things that the datamined bits really tell you is that Solas is committed to his goals, and that Flemeth/Mythal is not gotten rid of so easily, both things which I think can be extrapolated from the stinger, and were expanded upon, especially on Solas' part in Trespasser.
