Hey guys, I was wondering what you guys think about Velanna's possible reaction to Solas?

Would she rush to his aid to restore elf glory?
Be stubborn and be convinced he is lying because Fen'Harel is evil?
Believe what he says, but can't support him because of her sister or had developed to be more compassionate?

Thoughts?
I think we could see her in DA4 in some way like codex entry or even more involved. Or perhaps in a novel?

I don't think she would think Solas is lying, no one would. Because he is almost at his full power in Trespasser and he will even get stronger with time. But thinking he is evil is another matter entirely.

I think it depends. If Solas' plan is to basically deify all the elves, then I imagine she'd be on board. If the Dalish are going to burn with everyone else then I don't think she would.

 

Ultimately I think she would find him being Fen'Harel to be irrelevant if he can produce results. I haven't played Awakening in years, but I got the impression that Velanna cared about the Dalish people, their culture and history, but wasn't especially devout or god-fearing.

Lol you should have posted another angle to freak people out ever further; his middle section has a chunk missing, but you can't really tell from this shot. I know because a modder I follow on Tumblr was trying to get rid of the extra cloth pieces on various armors (and was successful!) and tried it with Solas. It was successful in removing that cloth piece that is separated there, but leaves a hole in his middle.

How any elf reacts to Solas depends on how he introduces himself.   When he adopted the humble traveller guise, the Dalish just weren't interested in listening to him, which is amusing because it is almost as if they already had the warning from the Evanuris about Fen'Harel and his "humble guises".  

 

Still, I think if Solas turned up, announced himself as Fen'Harel and then demonstrated just how powerful he is, then Velanna would give him a hearing at least.   You'd be stupid not to really; even if she ultimately decided not to follow him, she certainly wouldn't insult him to his face.  

 

The thing is we don't know what he has said to these elves who are flocking to follow him.    Did he admit he was responsible for their fate?    Did he tell them why?    Did he say he was going to destroy the world in order to restore them to what they once were or did he just say he was going to free them from their current state?      Did he explicitly tell them they were going to die in their current form but possibly (based on certain assumptions) that they would live on to be reborn?     Solas can be very convincing, particularly if he is saying the things you want to hear, so until we attend a recruitment rally by him or one of his agents, we don't know on what basis he has recruited his army.

 

However, I'd refer to the song that Maryden sings:  "When the slightest unite, then a giant will rise."    This could be metaphorical or literal but whatever the case, Solas has made himself a figurehead for the elves (City if not Dalish) to unite behind.    He has given them their "pride" back and even without the threat of lowering the Veil, that is something that should make those who have abused and oppressed the elves very afraid indeed.

Ahh .. sorry.  I know you were just clarifying and not offended in any way but it occurred to me that I was doing some unnecessary picking of nits, so apologies.  I'm also not familiar with the story of Fullmetal Alchemist (don't hate me!). 

 

It's excellent.  The manga is fantastic and the second anime is pretty great.

 

Plus, Solas gives me major Hohenhiem vibes.  Except, I can't see them getting on well.

Well I guess I should clarify and say that by her thinking he was lying would be something like this: Fen'Harel is a lying and deceiving god, and although he promises good things he can't be trusted. Like believing in him and following him would only bring down ruin and ash. So in a way kind of predicting his plan would go awry, but thinking that because you believe he is deceiving you.

I admit, I'm not sure I remember that song in it's entirety, but I assumed the bolded part referred to the dwarves and Titans. *shrug*

It was a song about the elves.  Each stanza was about the elves so I don't think that part would be about the dwarves.  Also, most humans in Thedas don't look down on dwarves the way they do elves.  Basically the song was saying, "Hey we should be nice to the elves or they'll actually get their crap together and revolt."

I... actually find that cosplay a little creepy.

 

I think it's because it's too close.  He looks like a live action video game character and it's just a tad on the uncanny valley side for me.
