I... actually find that cosplay a little creepy.

I think it's because it's too close.  He looks like a live action video game character and it's just a tad on the uncanny valley side for me.

Actually, I think it's because he looks too young and his eyes aren't quite the right shape. Which, I mean, that's not something to be ashamed of, it'd probably be a little over the top if he went and got plastic surgery or something. But to me it's the little details that just aren't quite right that throw it off.

But yeah, absolutely great work.

I'm sort of in this "oh no" moment, which basically means being squished between hype and trying to not get my hopes too high  :pinched: Like... even if we get something, what are the chances it'd be anything that wouldn't drive me mad for some reason!? (to short, too vague, not showing what I want, etc)

I've got enough stuff I'm looking forward to (Dishonored, Horizon:Zero Dawn, Deus Ex probably.) that I won't be too bummed if they don't announce DA4. I also heard rumors that they might announce the next Elder Scrolls, but I think that was debunked as just a Skyrim remastering. (Why they're remastering Skyrim of all things and not Morrowind or something, I don't know. I'd be THRILLED if they announced a remastering of Morrowind.)

If you're on PC there's Skywind.  It's unofficial and not complete yet, but it aims to put the entire of Morrowind into Skyrim's engine.

E3, I believe.

No, it's this:  http://news.ea.com/p...ress-conference

But I don't know that because I refuse to admit that I know it.  Because I don't know.  And stuff.

Oh it's not that I'm not looking toward other things (I'm also exceedingly curious about BW's new IP, which we get hints at being announced at E3), it's just that I know that no matter if we get something or no, I may get annoyed in case of DA.

I'm also very interested with Horizon: Zero Dawn, but sadly I don't own a PS4... Strictly a PC player.

Still, I'd say that it's possible they'd be announcing new Elder Scrolls. I mean... it's about time  It's actually possible that they're releasing remastered Skyrim version just to remind everyone that TES exisis and is still an ongoing franchise (I mean, I know it, since I'm back to playing ESO... but ESO is not technically made by Bethesda and it's an MMO)

I think I'd settle for a less buggy version.

I'd be more excited about a remastered Oblivion, but anything TES is much better than nothing.

Isn't it EA Play they're announcing stuff at this year, instead of E3?  EA was doing their own fan-oriented thing rather than E3's industry-centered event.  Which is nice, because previously, E3 was open to fans but now it's more for the actual industry.  It's good to see there being more events for fans than just PAX.

The EA Play thing is still listed on E3 site as a conference. Starts at the same time, so I suppose it'd be a merged thing.

From what I understand, it's becoming a bit trendy for companies to have a major public conference around the same time as E3 without actually being at E3. Something about how it's more cost-effective and efficient to make their own space rather than be subject to E3's whims. The conference, while technically being it's own thing, gets livestreamed in a dedicated time slot at E3 as though that's the developer's alloted show. Nintendo's doing the same thing, did it last year too.

Nonetheless, referring to the general video game announcement season as E3 (Regardless of whether the announcement was made at E3 or not) is just easier.

E3 does start tomorrow, actually - kind of. It's a little weird, because there's the "public" E3 and then the actual E3. "Public" E3 is the series of shows and conferences that actually take place in the days leading up to E3 proper. And E3 proper is the floor show and exposition (E3 being an acronym for Electronic Entertainment Expo.) Naturally most people don't get into the actual E3, because tickets are limited and expensive and it's really more for industry insiders over random fans. So usually when people say E3 they mean the series of conferences that lead up to it, since that's what more people have access to.

Proper E3, from what I understand (Obviously I've never been) is usually filled up with playable demos and stuff - and that's what's taking place Tuesday-Thursday. But most of the announcements are made where people can see them, at the public conferences prior.

Yeah, I was a bit unnerved by it. Impressive work though, I must say.

Awwww, don't take it like that. It really was a very well done cosplay no matter my initial reaction to it, and I'm glad you shared it. A lot of time went into creating it and it shows. :) I enjoy seeing cosplay and I wouldn't see any if they weren't posted here--that or art. Work like that should be shared so that others may enjoy it and I'm glad that you take the time put those posts together.

....Sure.

Still, I don't even know what counts as a "good" Solas cosplay if this thread's reaction to it is "it's creepy', which is just mind-boggling to me because in my opinion it looks absolutely amazing. So yeah, not gonna share anymore awesome (or should I say "creepy" and "unnerving") Solas cosplay anymore.  -_-

Aw, please don't stop sharing Sunnie! :o  :(

People see things differently! Personally, I'm always amazed at the craftsmanship and dedication of cosplayers, and I think it is fun to see the different interpretations people can have of the same character. The one you linked had obviously done a lot of hard work, and it looked really nice. :)

Some cosplays are so good I'm inclined to think magic is involved...  :P

Awww, don't stop sharing.  Other people liked it!  And it is a fantastic cosplay, and clearly a lot of work went into it and the photographs.

If everyone liked the same things then the world would be a very dull place.

For anyone who is uncomfortable with using Project Elvhen as a reference there's now an alternative source:

http://archiveofouro...chapters/582281

That's actually older than Project Elvhen - it's from 2012. But thank you for sharing it, Illyria. I am most intrigued by her translation of the song Suledin, which, having been posted in 2012, predates any information we received from Inquisition.  Here it is, emphasis mine:

Endure
Once we dwelt in our homeland
still on our long journey, now more difficult
my one regret is that you’re alone
the spirit inside, the way we’ve done for an eon of time
inside still, but the places of the tenuous dreaming
no longer mine, no longer yours.

stay true to the path of love
the long path of love before us
we may still find a way home tomorrow
that joyful time
when I return once more, my family

It seems like some evidence in support of the hypothesis that elves were once spirits . Don't the lyrics suggest to you that all the elves still have a spirit, they just aren't aware of it? They don't have a conscious connection to it (unless they are mages, probably - but even elven mages don't seem to recognize a spirit inside themselves). But there may yet be a way to return home, to the 'places of tenuous dreaming' - whether that is by Solas tearing down the Veil or by an individual path to enlightenment/recognition of the spirit that does not require violent, world-changing actions remains to be seen.

I won't lie: since November when I finished DAI including Trespasser, I have been hoping that an individual path to enlightenment might be possible, giving Solas an alternative to tearing down the Veil, and thus enabling him to change his plans. I actually do wonder whether the conversation on the balcony where he asks if your spirit has changed since you bore the mark might actually have a lot more meaning to it.
