But what about the Thaig in DA2? I guess it was never confirmed as a Titan, but it seems likely.

I thought about that, and have a couple ideas.

We technically have no indication that blight hurts a Titan, do we? We know blight hurts everything else, but nothing about Titans b/c, as I said before, darkspawn seem to avoid Titans and we've not actually come across a living one that's tainted. And yet we get red lyrium on the surface, which is taint in a Titan's blood. If the darkspawn aren't giving it to them, since they avoid them, then it must come from another source. Since we know of no other carrier for the taint in the Deep Roads, I think it is reasonable to say the taint is coming from the Titan itself.

So, if the primeival thaig is in fact formerly a Titan, then perhaps the taint that made that lyrium red is the Titan's doing.

Alternatively, the red lyrium in the idol could also just not originally be from that thaig.

I do have to say, I love the fact I can keep my modded ending and apparently not have to headcanon anything. lol Really not sure why "why are you showing a female protagonist in the marketing?" is even a thing that's being addressed, though. And its apparently not the media bringing it up, but Bioware. The media doesn't seem to care. They're just like "MEA Trailer!" and that's it. Isn't that the ultimate goal? To not have the fact its a female protagonist instead of a male be questioned or treated as odd for these kind of games? Why poke at the point when that's actually what's happened?

The media? Probably not. But after some vocal fringe groups began shouting and pointing at new Star Wars movie or Mad Max and calling it "feminist propaganda" and some other nonsense I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware's mailbox wasn't flooded with a bunch of hateful e-mails....

Or it could not have been and Bioware is just acting preemptively against an uproar that hasn't happened (yet, at least). Then again, I am sure there's been a troll thread in the ME section about this. Probably.

I would have thought part of the reasoning behind showing a female this time around instead of a male would have had to do with Ryder being named for a female astronaut instead of a man like last time, but apparently that wasn't part of the logic at all. *shrug*

There's always an uproar if you define "uproar" as two or three people complaining on Twitter.

It's the internet. People complain about everything. And then people complain about people complaining. And then they complain about people complaining about the wrong things. And then they complain about their right to complain.

That's what we call "The Outrage Machine."

Hey, I'd like to complain too!

That long hair option (Not the half-shaved one)? Just horrible.

Playing an elf whose right ear is hidden at all times becomes increasingly annoying as time goes. You start feeling like an one-eared freak...

I don't think that having a female protagonist indicates the presence of feminist beliefs. It just means the main character the writers had in mind happens to be a woman.

Now... Mad Max? Yup, definitely. There was "We aren't things" painted on the wall. And Bioware games usually have some hints here and there, too.

But neither of those bother me because I never felt like they actually tried to convert me. It isn't the same experience as watching a movie entirely dedicated to feminism like Suffragette starring Helena Bonham Carter.

A beautiful sketch of Solas and Lavellan kissing. <3

"Please, Fen'Harel". The Lady pleads with the Wolf to save the humans.

A beautiful mural of Lavellan and Solas from the Solavellan fic, When The World Fell.

Solas and Lavellan.  Yes, she doesn't look it due to lack of vallaslin and no visible pointed ears,

but the artist tagged it as 'Solavellan' and 'Lavellan' *shrugs* Apparently this was an early version of her Inquisitor.

'Stay.' Solavellan. (Slightly NSFW because they're nude but nothing explicit.)

hoping the following will be in the next DA...disappointed that no trailer/teaser at the recent E3...:(

1. Major quests in the Fade detailing the Fall of Arlathan (War between Forgotten vs. Evunians, Fen'Harel's early life/origins and rise to the dread wolf general, Mythal's murder, ban of Evunians, Tevinter Imperium's role in the fall)

2. Drawing parallels to modern day's corruption and evils to the once great Elvan Empire. (E.g. Tevinter, Qun, Fredas, Remnants of the Inquisition, Sola's new rebel army)

3. Greater development of Cole's character (compassion) and his spiritual/Fade with Solas

4. Exploration of different aspects of love (controlling/possessive love, self love, lustful love, passionate love, rational love, unconditional love)through decisions of the player and how it impacts the world state - this includes relationships with Fen'Harel/Solas

About that Thaig in DA2, it always seemed to me that the idol might be of Flemeth, even before we learned about the connection of Mythal with the dwarves.   So it could well have been the corpse of the Titan that Mythal conquered and the idol was made by the dwarves she freed to honour her.   There is a weird picture on p38-39 of World of Thedas 1 that shows a group of warriors in the Deep Roads confronted by a giant female figure or statue of one and I do wonder if that is the original appearance of Mythal.    The only thing that is missing is the accompanying wolf but may be this is a depiction before they became allies.

I wonder what anyone thinks to the fact that when Solas confronts an Inquisitor he does not respect, even if they do not reject his offer to talk, he is much less apologetic about what he intends to do and doesn't try to paint himself in a better light.    When the person asks why he stopped the Qunari if he is going to destroy the world anyway, instead of declaring "Because I am not a monster" and "if they must die, let them die in peace", he says there is "no benefit in allowing harm to come to innocents before it's necessary" and "the Qunari offended me."    So he is happy to appear more cold and calculating to someone he doesn't respect or love.     I'd not seen this negative conversation until today, only the one where the person rejects the opportunity to talk.    I'm not sure what to make of it but it does seem that it does bother him that a former friend/lover might think badly of him.   It is still annoying that he won't explain himself more than he does to a friend but I'll concede that his hope they are successful in proving him wrong is more than just empty words.

I'm not sure if he's 'happy to appear more cold and calculating' - I think he just doesn't give a fig what a non-friend thinks of him. He doesn't tell a non-friend Inquisitor that they taught him that the modern people are actually people, does he?  So... the non-friend Inquisitor and everyone in the non-friend Inquisitor's world state are still those non-people Solas thought they were when he woke up, killed Felassan for seeing them as people, etc. Solas' job is much easier in those world-states because he doesn't have to feel guilty about the prospect of killing them all.

I've heard low-approval Solas described as an "assh*le sleepwalker." It's pretty fitting, in my opinion. He basically sees the modern world as a terrible dream, and destroying it isn't genocide anymore than waking up from a nightmare is. Naturally it's a pretty cold outlook that displays a stunning lack of empathy... but that just goes to show how much of an impact a friendly Inquisitor has on him. And how hard Solas was dissociating from modern people.

And I'm sorry, but I just gotta love that "The Qunari offended me" line. Like damn son, if you don't want people to think of you as a god, maybe you should stop talking like one.

But yes, what Lady said. I don't think high approval Solas is really disguising thoughts or feelings that low-approval Solas freely expresses. He truly does feel guiltier. He seems to believe that a friendly Inquisitor's going to think badly of him no matter what. I mean, the guy thanks you if you tell him you thought he was a better person than that.
