'limited in scope'
But at least there's a romance.
Mike clarified it meant limited in terms of who, not the content

Hmm? Oh, that just means the gating attached to his romance arc, I believe. No worries! Here's the entire quote for reference!
Two “additional” romance options were added to the game as a result of the extra development time DA:I received. They are more limited in scope, largely for reasons directly related to their story arcs, but are otherwise the equal of the other options:
Yay, Thanks for clarifying *jumps on unicorn*
I'm so happy they had extra time for development to add Solas' romance
Turns out the two romances I'm most interested at the ones they added with the extra development time.
HA. I know how to pick 'em, I guess! I'm a lucky duck.
I suspect the forums are going to get a bit uh active...inflamed...sad and yet all I can feel is relief that no matter the outcome we finally know all the options, can grieve (where needed) and move on. I do understand all the reactions but may just keep in here or my head low for a bit. (I won't lie, as a straight woman, I never dreamed I would be the one benefiting from this list so greatly and keep having to add playthroughs. I feel kind of guilty but Solas was the one I wanted most followed by Cullen, neither of which would have happened without the delay.)

I didn't expect to benefit from the list this much even though i'm bi lol. So i'm guessing there are just more female only LI's this time around?

Holy crap. Women get Blackwall, Cullen, and Solas to themselves?? I'm afraid to look in the romance thread at all.

It's not bad, yet. But it will be. Give it time.
And, YES. Cullen and Solas were all I ever wanted. And I got them! ![]()

I'm feeling the guilt too
I never ever thought so many options would be available to straight female characters and, though it was the writers' choice and not mine, I'm still feeling bad. Definitely not used to feeling spoiled like this >.<

Don't go in there
I peeked, it's... it's something. Blackwall became more interesting to me after Gamescom because it seems they tweaked his appearance enough that he doesn't look like my dad anymore. That was pretty much the only thing holding me back from him before.
Oh dear, the romance thread is going to get scary.
I like to think of it this way:
Originally there were equal options, but the adding of romances due to extensions skewed it. We can only say it was that it didn't suit the characters. And YAY more romance options! But I am a sad panda for those who didn't get who/what they wanted.
*Hides under blankets*
solassians, unite!
All right... I'm going to ask this here since I can possibly get answers without everyone wanting to poleaxe me for asking it. I'm truly curious and want to try and understand something.
We were told everyone would have options, but they might not be fairly distributed, which is fine. Everyone has representation, which I am glad for and happy that BioWare provides. Many people are all over Dorian, Iron Bull, Sera, and so on and have stated they will be romancing them. Even with that, there is another option available, so there is choice.
Why is it then that people are upset that there are not strictly equal numbers in regards to the sexualities? If you have a choice, and already know which character you are romancing, what is upsetting about not having a third choice? Is it just that it doesn't exist at all? Is this really seen as a slight against a particular sexuality, even if people are otherwise happy with the options they have available? I'm happy enough to get to romance all the characters I want to, even if it means playing a straight male and a lesbian female as well as a female elf.
I really hope that made sense. I may not be asking the question I mean to ask in the right way. I just hope someone in this thread can offer insight without it turning into a meltdown. ![]()
*Sneaks into the thread*
I left a few days and what happens! A poet Solas, dollquisitors, and now, Mike's post!
Must go back to reading ![]()
Luckily, this thread will be a safe haven, away from the general romance thread.
Wait. Wait. WAIT.
Did something new happen? What did I miss?
The forums just exploded. *blinks* I'm...staying in here.

SAME! I laughed when I saw that. Guess we should be very thankful for all the extra development time! And I have to admit, though I'd never considered Blackwall because I simply assumed he wouldn't be a LI (which means no one should listen to my predictions, like, ever), I'm...curious.

I feel guilty too, and wonderfully spoiled, and kind of giddy...how on earth did this happen? I never dreamed I'd have so many options!
Also going to reiterate just how glad I am to have this thread to chill in, because some of the other threads are about to turn into Mordor.
Wow, the extra development time was an AWESOME idea! We get Solas and Cullen! WHHHOOOOOO!
And Blackwall! Color me surprised!
Turns out the two romances I'm most interested at the ones they added with the extra development time.

RIGHT?! Solas and Cullen are the ones I was very interested in, and YAY!
Dorian too, but hey, I'll just make a M!Inquisitor for him! XD

Solas and Vivienne were the only ones I wanted to romance with a female inquisitor. Pretty bummed out I can't romance her but super pleased I still have Solas
I had a feeling for a long time that Vivienne wasn't going to be an option, even when people kept telling me she must be.
I'm....scared to venture onto Tumblr now.

Not sure about you but I haven't been able to get on for the last few minutes. The announcements must've broken it ![]()

The site is down for me. Probably for the best tbh

I think they do see it as a slight against fair representation for their own demographic, and anything that isn't equal numbers across the board is a deliberate snubbing of them personally. I'm one of those players who doesn't like playing outside of my gender, and a lot of them are like that too, so they wouldn't just roll something else to see the romance they wanted. I wish knowing that two of the straight female options were not planned from the start and only added later would help them understand, but I doubt it. Emotions are too inflamed.
I am soooooo happy I'm not stuck with beardy and Iron Bull. I would have no romance I liked at all. *weeps*
Edit: And I'm happy for Aimo. She's made so much Blackwall art.
