Solas is an ancient elf, so this is kinda personal for him. It takes a lot of restraint to listen to someone spouting several misconceptions about your people and say nothing.

Especially from someone like Morrigan, who has gotten very far (and become a darling of Celene's court) by convincing everyone she's privy to ancient secrets no one else understands. (Granted, that's also how Solas got into the Inquisition, but I think that would just aggrivate him more.)

As Solas says when asked about Corytheus, "a god need never prove anything to anyone." And that really MUST be true, and Solas must have the best poker face of all time, since Morrigan's entire case for being where she is and doing what she does is dependent on knowledge that, as we learn, is entirely false. And she confidently spouts it in his face, and he can't say or do a damn thing without opening himself up to questions he doesn't want to answer.

I love Morrigan, but she was so consistently wrong about EVERYTHING in DA:I it became tiresome. Oh, Morrigan thinks this is true? It must be a mistake. I hope she's able to get some of her own back in whatever DA:4 ends up being because that got old quick.

No one excited about Patrick Weekes thinking Solas is like Overwatch's Zenyatta ?

Zenyatta is a kind monk that wants to heal people... Does that sound anything like the guy who wants to blow up the fade ?

Zenyatta does have a Discord Orb.

Also, does this mean Solas can be easily taken out by a Rogue ? Zenyatta can be easily taken out by Widowmaker or Tracer. In Theodosian terms, Widowmaker would be a Rogue Archer and Tracer would be a Dual Weapon Rogue.

Solas doesn't *want* to destroy the world or the people currently in it.  He wants to restore his own people (whatever that may mean) and believes that the destruction of the current world is an inevitable result of the actions he's going to take to restore his people.  I'm not even sure he actually wanted to do it before joining the Inquisition, he just didn't feel guilty about it.

One won't be touched, while the other is invalidated. That's a rather stark difference.

Because one is an issue of how the Avvar view their gods in comparison to how the Dalish view the Creators, and the other is a matter of how the developers handle the story.

Considering that those answers invalidate their religion, it's not really joyous news, now, is it? And with Solas' actions potentially leading to the reset button for the Andrastian and Dalish elves, any potential progress that may have been made for them might get reset to explain why anyone would follow Solas. I see it being rather bleak.

I never said it would be joyous news, I said I would rather have actual answers even if those answers weren't ones I liked than to keep my head buried in the sand.  But anyway I'm done.  You seem to think that BioWare is treating the Chantry/Andrastianism as some special snowflake and putting it up on a pedestal.  I see BioWare as treating them like they're a human created, human run organisation full of flaws and doubt that makes mistakes and isn't perfect at all.  I also believe that *not* answering the question of whether the Maker is actually real or not is more cruel than stating definitively yes or no.

So let's just agree to disagree, shall we?

Solas probably does see taking down the Veil as a way to heal people, since he believes he harmed them by putting the Veil up. But do remember he also says "the healer has the bloodiest hands" and "accept the blood to make things better." So... I'm not sure how excited I ought to be, to be honest.

On the flip side, there's Cole's line in Trespasser "Solas doesn't want to hurt anybody! He's not that kind of wolf!"

And then I remember that Solas can apparently erase Cole's memory, and I wonder how else he might be able manipulate Cole's thoughts.  :P

So this is one of Cole's lines that I originally thought might be referring to dwarves, but now I am pretty sure I was mistaken, and I wonder if it refers to the spirits who took physical form to become elves:

"They made bodies from the earth. And the earth was afraid. It fought back. But they made it forget."

Could that be what led eventually to the Evanuris and the Titans fighting? "[The earth] fought back" might as well be "the Titans fought back."

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Why would we even need to stop Solas if his plan is all flowers and rainbows?

If Solas is a Dreamer why doesn't he kill people in their Dreams. We've seen Feyneriel do it from Tevinter.

Headcanon that Solas killed Cory in his dreams like a million times and the bastard just. kept. reviving.

Headcanon that once the rest of the party figures it out at ToM he's just like "What. No. Immortality. Who could've guessed that."

Solas did kill Felassan in his dreams.  Felassan wasn't asleep but he was awake in the Fade, which is the same thing.   He also keeps appearing in romanced Lavellan's dreams.   To be honest, if you take Solas' dreamer status to its logical conclusion, based on previous lore, then it would be virtually impossible to stop him.   However, it may be that he has limitations that have yet to be explained.   Possibly it is other spirits that prevent this.  The reason he could harm Felassan was that he was also a Dreamer and so the spirits could not stop them meeting.  He is only observing Lavellan, not trying to harm her, so there is no reason to intervene.    We have yet to encounter a hope spirit, which is said to be the most powerful spirit of all, so may be one of them is involved.     I certainly wonder if a hope spirit is going to be involved in the future plot.

I was stunned when I realized neither Solas or Alistair would not be in the top... only to see them both be relegated to the "mentions". I mean, I love Varric, and I would totally give him a good spot if I made a list... but he just isn't more interesting than Alistair or Solas (especially Solas). WatchMojo, we've had disagreements before, but now I think it's time we part ways...

Well, it's possibly all flowers and rainbows, but probably only after something drastic...

Is Solas a shapeshifter?

If he were, I can only wonder what animal the Dread Somethingorother might favor as his alternate form... :)

hmm. I was wondering if it was a case of religious iconography/an honorific being taken as literal truth.

but if the obvious answer is correct, then color me over-analytical :) thank you for your response!

It's possible, and I wouldn't rule any magic OUT for someone that skilled, but anything more would be a spoiler. :)

As for Solas not being able to kill Corypheus in his dreams.Corypheus Himself was also a dreamer who lived in a time where dreamers would kill each other, too. So I'm pretty sure Corypheus had ways to protect himself from such attacks. Either Way, Corypheus was also much more powerful than Solas at the time.

"They made bodies from the earth. And the earth was afraid. It fought back. But they made it forget."

Maybe this was the 1st Golems? The Primeval Thaig had Golems and it would not surprise me if these Primeval Golems were created by the Evanuris.

Afterall, "modern" Golems are a recreation from Caridin's vision

Then again, it could mean the Elves taking vast amounts of the earth (unchanging world) in order to shape the pocket dimenions like the Vir Dirthara?

Well, when I compare the writing for the Dalish to that of the Andrastians, I suppose that would be a fair assessment.

No Alistair? No Fenris? A DISHONORABLE MENTION FOR SOLAS???

I noticed 8/10 entries all appeared in DAI; either DAI alone or were part of DAI's main story (Leliana, Cullen, Morrigan).

The only two in the list that didn't show up in DAI were Shale and Isabela, and the only honorable mention who never turns up in DAI is Zevran.

Considering WatchMojo is extremely mainstream, and DAI is the latest (and arguably most mainstream) entry in the series, I wonder how many people voted who actually played previous games... =/

Also, Solas is a "dishonorable mention"? F U, WatchMojo!!

It just annoys me that Solas gets a dishonorable mention but not, I don't know, Anders? And Isabela (although I do like her) contributed to the sacking of Kirkwall for purely selfish reasons, and she gets a place in the top. So yeah, I also got the feeling they were either more familiar with DA:I or at least greatly preferred it to the previous games.

Wait - Cullen beat out Solas? Cullen beat out anyone besides, like, Blackwall?

Was the contest about which character best resembles white bread?

EDIT: Watching the video, I'd say it's more that whoever put it together has an obvious penchant for the light-hearted roguish type. (Isabela, Bull, Sera, Zevran, Dorian, and Varric all fall under that heading. You could make a case for Leliana, especially in Origins. Even Shale's more comedic than complex and emotional.) If you ask me, the only characters on that list that deserve to be there are Morrigan, Cassandra and Varric (And Varric at a much lower position.). Don't know what's up with the dishonorable mention though. Is it because Solas is an antagonist? Because he's more controversial? What's the criteria there?

...And seriously, Cullen?
